Bolongo Bay condo description
Newly on the short term rental market two bedroom, two bath condo at Watergate Villas East available in May. Our two bedroom condo has always been in long terms rentals. We decided it was time to try something different. You may already know us from our studio rental. Come to Paradise.
Looking for a lush tropical setting? Come to our island paradise. Enjoy year round fun in the sun or just relax and get away from it all at our oceanfront condo. Tropical breezes gently blow the palms at our condos on the beach. One of the things that everyone who has stayed in our studio raves about is the view from the deck. The magnificent sunrises and sunsets are the same for this two bedroom but you have a full 30 foot of deck to enjoy it on. There are sliding glass and screen doors in the living area as well as the master bedroom to give you access to the deck. The deck is a natural extension of your living space; enjoy breakfast and your morning paper, lunch, a happy hour cocktail, dinner or a nightcap on the deck. We enjoy all these options and hope you will too.
We are located on the south shore of St. Thomas approximately 20 minutes from the airport. Parking is readily available at the building. Our 2 bedroom is the top corner unit in bldg. 16 overlooking the Watergate pool. We are located next door to Bolongo Bay Beach Resort. There are three restaurants; Mim's Seaside Bistro, Iggie's Beach Bar and Lobster Grille within easy walking distance. You also have access to the pools and tennis court at our neighboring complexes, Sea Cliff and Regatta Point. Last summer the decking here at the Watergate pool was resurfaced and looks amazing. There also was the addition of a sea wall back filled with nice white sand. Security cameras monitor the property for your safety and security. Other association upgrades will be happening soon.
Our unit is fully furnished with everything you will need to start enjoying the tropical breezes and the turquoise water. There is AC in the unit with the availability to adjust living areas and the bedrooms separately. Though the breeze is so nice, you will probably just want to enjoy having the doors open with the ceiling fans on. We live on site except when we are visiting are grandchildren and quite honestly we never turn our AC on, we enjoy the breeze and letting the sound of the waves lull us to sleep each night.
Our units are fully equipped for you to come and enjoy the island. We try to look at what we would like and outfit our units accordingly. The master bedroom in our 2 bedroom has a king size bed, dresser, closet with adjoining bath with a tub/shower combination. The second bedroom has twin beds that can be used as twins or joined to form a king. There is a washer/dryer located next to the vanity located outside the second bath. The kitchen has a side by side refrigerator/freezer and full stove with oven. The open living room arrangement has a sofa-bed, loveseat and chairs as well as dining room table with seating for six. The condo is stocked with an ample supply of linens, towels, cooking and eating utensils ,items for the pool and beach as well as other extras. The deck has a table and chairs for outdoor dining as well as some taller chairs for sitting and studying the sunrise or just watching the hummingbirds and banana quits (sugar birds).
We are a United States territory so you do not need your passport to travel to our island but you might want to bring it along so that you can visit our island neighbors in the British Virgin Islands. With your passport you can take a ferry to Tortola, Virgin Gorda (The Baths) or Jost Van Dyke (Soggy Dollar, Foxy's). If not you can take a car or passenger ferry to St. John without your passport and visit one of the other U.S. Virgin Islands. There are lots of beautiful beaches to visit, water sports to explore, historical sites to see, shopping to do ( we are a duty free port) or you might prefer just relaxing and soaking up the sun and breezes, just Limmin' island style.
Rental Information: minimum age for primary renter is 25, we are a non-smoking unit (allowable on deck), and pets are not allowed. We have a five night minimum stay but may be available to accommodate a shorter stay with an additional cleaning fee. Don't miss Skinny Legs or Woody's while you are there. Back on St. Thomas, Coral World on Coki beach is an aquatic center with lots of opportunities to learn more about our local sea life. Feed the fish on Coki beach with dog biscuits and have them eat right out of your hands. Newer adventures include a zip-line, water-propelled jet pack, stand-up paddle-boarding, and ice carvings at Magic Ice. There are numerous opportunities to go sailing, power boating, exploring other cultures through music, art, dance and food. There area art galleries, fine dining, shopping, souvenir and serious. Some of the best bargains in electronics, watches and fine jewelry are available in our duty free shops. Liquor prices are lower than you will find them stateside or in Canada. So much to see and do and so little time. One of the most often heard comments from tenets who are leaving, 'I'm not ready to go home.' You are always welcome to come back as many times as you want. A Little Piece Of Paradise
A Little Piece Of Paradise
The condo was just as described. Our family loved the quiet "homey" atmosphere. It was nice to have the owners nearby to offer advice about what to see and do in St. Thomas and on our day trip to St. John. We had an airplane delay and the owners were very accommodating and allowed us to extended our vacation an extra day. The owners even offered our son their remedy for swimmers ear. We loved having nice places to eat within walking distance. Loved Iggies and the Wednesday night Carnival night. We snorkel right in Bolongo Bay and saw turtles and sting rays. We went scuba diving with St. Thomas Dive Club right next door and had an AWESOME experience scuba diving with turtles! Thanks for a vaca we will never forget.

About the owner: We live on island, on site full time. We go back to the states to take care of some on-going issues and to visit our grandchildren. We are both retired officially now but working still. With rental units there is always something to do. My husband was a landlord back in the states for over 30 years so he is well versed in maintenance issues. I am a retired teacher and find myself volunteering or doing some contract work with projects on island. I also manage the listings and work with our potential and current tenets.
Why the Owner Chose Bolongo Bay:
When we started looking for a retirement home, we knew we wanted to be on the water preferably sand and surf and in a warm year round climate. Continuing to be part of the United States postal system and a U.S. citizen sealed the deal. We came to St. Thomas and found all that. When we found Watergate Villas East , we found the perfect spot for us. It was as close as you can get to the water in a condo setting on island, it had Bolongo Bay Beach Resort next door with amenities , Mim's on site. So if we wanted, we could just walk to dinner or to get a drink without any fuss or hassle. There is an almost constant breeze so we could keep doors open and enjoy the sights, the sounds and the smells of living on the sea. On the south side of the island, we have the Caribbean Sea bringing a constant array of gentle waves. In fact, as I sit at my computer now, I can glance up and see the sea through my door and hear the waves. We love watching the hummingbirds, the banana quits (locally known as sugar birds or yellow breasts) and other birds and wildlife mostly iguanas, lizards, skinks and sea creatures. My husband is PADI certified and I love snorkeling. St. Thomas Dive shop is at the resort next door and I have the bay to snorkel in with sightings of rays and sea turtles as well as colorful local fish. It is home.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
I hate being redundant but probably as far as I am concerned and what I have heard from guests our most unique benefit would be our location. We are right on the water, south side, warmer Caribbean versus north, colder Atlantic. Our buildings 16 and 17 are very convenient to the pool, sand and water, as well as Mim's on one side and Iggie's on the other. I wake up every morning with the sky colors announcing the approach of dawn. (I have an extensive collection of sunrise, sunsets photos, my husband and children tease me about the volume of photos but every day is different and gorgeous.) I walk every morning in the sand with the waves by my side , the breeze blowing my hair and the sun on my shoulders to the Bolongo resort office to pick up my morning paper. I come home and have my coffee and paper on the deck right above the pool with the palms and Caribbean just feet from that. Life is good.
