This traditional stone Quercynoise barn has been renovated and modernised for a perfect family holiday. The ensemble consists of 4 self contained, comfortably furnished and fully equipped cottages in beautiful private grounds with stunning views across the surrounding countryside. The cottages share a lovely pool (fenced and alarmed) with decking, sun terrace and loungers and there is table tennis, boules, volleyball/ badminton, football and a play area for small children. The covered communal barbeque area overlooks the pool for relaxed evenings in the setting sun. Each gite has its own small terrace furnished for outside dining. The kitchens are fully equipped with oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge. The individual gites offer different accommodation ranging from 2-7* persons. For larger groups, book more than one gite, we can discuss your requirements. You may book in advance if you require a meal on arrival, and breakfast and evening meals may be available, please enquire. Short stays of less than a week are available in low and mid season, and we accept long lets during the low and closed season by arrangement

Arranged on two levels, the ground floor has a spacious open plan Living room/dining room/kitchen and a shower room with WC. The kitchen is well equipped and has a full electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave and fridge. The gite is comfortably furnished and has a wood burner, just perfect for cosy evenings in the spring and autumn. Wood must be purchased on site. Upstairs the gite has one double bedroom and one spacious triple bedroom, with an additional pull out bed. To the front of the property is a shaded terrace area, with dining furniture and a lovely view of the pool and the valley.
This accommodation is not suitable for elderly or inform or for families with very small children as, although a safety gate is fitted, access to the bedrooms is via a steep open plan staircase. No additional mandatory fees
A security deposit of euro 200 will be required upon arrival. This will be returned in full within fourteen days of departure providing there has been no damage or loss and the accommodation has been left in a clean condition. There is no extra charge for cleaning but in the event that the property requires exceptional cleaning before the next tenant, 50 euro will be deducted from the deposit.
Deposit payment of 25% is payable to secure the booking. The balance is due 6 weeks before arrival. Cheque payments must be cleared before the property may be occupied.

The gites are set in a very picturesque area on the borders of the departments Lot and Dordogne. The Dordogne river and all its attractions is just 12 kilometres to the north with canoes, swimming and fishing. Domme, Le Roc Gageac, Beynac, Le Bugue and Rocamadour are all within a short drive. Sarlat with its lively saturday market is 25 kilometres to the north and the medieval walled town of Gourdon with its own weekly market is 13 kilometres to the east. The area is famous for its gastronomic delights, foie gras, goats cheese and the world famous Cahors wine and the cosmopolitan town of Cahors is 30 minutes by car. The pretty village of Salviac is just 3 kilometres, and has everything for your daily requirements, baker, butcher, bank, post office, mini supermarket bars and restaurants. Tennis, golf and horse riding are available nearby. The property has direct access onto many miles of marked paths and routes for off road cycling and walking.

About the owner: Teresa and Steve Magill 'retired' to France in 2005.
We Bought the property from a Dutch couple who had already converted the barn into 4 holiday gites. We live here full time with our two sons, a pony and our two lovely dogs, Frank and Betty (!) who are free to roam around our un-fenced 14 acre property. We are both Londoners, real townies, and after 9 years, we still have to stop and listen to the silence. Of course, we miss 'civilisation' but after two or three days in London, we long to get away from the traffic, the noise, the hustle and bustle and the grime and back to our clean air, our traffic free roads and our peace and quiet. Running the gites was an eye-opener , neither of us had any experience in this sort of enterprise and this business came ready made, we really hit the ground running. It took us a year or two to get into the swing of dealing with all that running holiday gites involves, but I think we have got the hang of it now and we have several clients who come back time and time again so we must be doing something right. We have met (and made friends with) a great many people from all over the world and this has been a hugely enriching experience.
Why the Owner Chose Le Pech Gaillard: We had holidayed in Rural France on several occasions, and were really taken with this area. Its green and undulating and peaceful and clean.. I could go on and on.
When we made the decision to move to France, we probably looked at 30 properties. This old stone farmhouse seemed to fit the bill perfectly, although we did a lot of work to the house and the gites to get them to work for us and the family, it was worth it. We are close to a village with an all year community and the locals have made us very welcome. The area is not densely populated but at the same time, we are not completely cut off. The shops still close for lunch for two hours, which takes some getting used to but, hey, we now embrace the very french lunch break and do you know what? We think they have got it about right!
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage: Even in the winter, when the trees are covered in frost, we can wrap ourselves in fleeces and sit outside with our coffee and crosissants and take in the breathtaking view from our terrace. We may not be earning city salaries, but this is priceless.
