Quail Forest Cabin is a comfortable, quiet, private semi-detached guest unit with fully equipped kitchen, on a sunny, redwood forested six acre hilltop in West Sonoma County near the headwaters of Salmon Creek. There is a private, separate unit attached to the main residence of proprietor with 2 bedrooms, full bath, sitting area, and fireplace. Both units have fine furnishings and linens. Indoor and outdoor towels are provided.
Unit 1: 1BR) Cabin with kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom (with shower), outdoor dining area, wireless internet, sleeps 2. $150./night. Weekly rates. Complimentary coffee, tea, cream, juices, water, condiments. One night, add $50. Mon-Thurs $120./night with 3-night minimum.
Unit 2: 1 or 2BR) Master suite $150. with fireplace, sitting area, outdoor dining area, bathroom (shower over tub) with adjoining bedroom (+$50.), wireless internet, sleeps 2-4. No kitchen but fridge and coffee maker. Complimentary coffee, cream, juices, water. One night, add $50. Mon-Thurs $120./night with 3-night minimum.
The 18' x 38' pool is 3.5' to 8' deep, framed by towering redwoods. The pool is heated from approximately April 15 through October 15. Pool is for exclusive use of guests.
Public tennis courts are just a 3 min drive in downtown Occidental.
There are walking trails on the property, including meandering paths through the woods and a 50-stair workout. Maps to local hiking trails are in the units.

Just three minutes from the historic, charming village of Occidental, famous for its Italian restaurants at the Union Hotel (and its coffee bar and award-winning bakery, sticky buns, blackberry tarts, apricot turnovers, brownies, foccacia, raspberry croissants), Negri's restaurant and bar, Bistro des Copains (make reservations early), El Mariachi Mexican restaurant, and the new Barley and Hops Tavern. 12 min to Graton for Willow Wood Cafe & Underwood Bar & Bistro. 15-20 min to Cafe Saint Rose, K&L Bistro, Rocker Oysterfellers. 20-30 min to Zazu, John Ash & Co., Farmhouse Inn Restaurant in Forestville, or Cyrus in Healdsburg.
This is the perfect vacation base from which to visit Russian River Valley or Coastal wineries, hike or bicycle the scenic countryside, take a fishing charter from Bodega Bay or a day trip to Mendocino, canoe or kayak in the Russian River, golf several nearby courses, horseback ride at Armstrong Redwoods, or just relax by the pool in the quiet countryside.
Wild Flour Brick Oven French Bread Bakery (open only Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon) and Osmosis (day spa famous for the Japanese Cedar Enzyme Bath) are just 8 minutes away.
Wineries nearby are the Russian River Valley (10min), Green Valley (10min), Dry Creek Valley (35min), and Alexander Valley appellations (40min). Napa, Sonoma, and Kenwood wineries are a 40min-60min drive. More classic California Champagne is produced here than anywhere else in the State. The region is also famous for its Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, and Syrah wines.
Occidental Farmer's Market is every Friday from 4pm to dusk during the months of approx May through October. Dungeness Crab season starts the 2nd week in November and ends June 30. Many crab boats are based in Bodega Bay, a 20 min drive from here. See CA Dept of Fish & Game link below.
The climate in Occidental is generally warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer than in eastern Sonoma County. As the crow flies, we are about 7 miles from the Pacific Ocean. Summer temps are typically 75-85F day and 55-65F night. Winter temps range from 40-60F.
PLEASE NOTE: Cellular phone service here in West Sonoma County is sporadic. ATT works here; Verizon generally does not. However, some guests have reported that any cell phone works if you stand in front of the bulletin board at El Mariachi Restaurant in downtown Occidental!
