  Given that we were looking for a little hideaway for exploring the island at a good price, Aura Marina was a great choice. These villas are very well constructed, and the finishes, furniture, and linens are of the best quality. Each villa has a small dipping pool that's great for cooling off under the sun, but they're not suitable for swimming. The property is very private and has a nice position on the hillside of Akrotiri, providing almost unobstructed views of the caldera. Akrotiri is the quieter side of Santorini. There isn't a beach or many restaurants/services within walking distance of the villas, which would be my only caution to travelers. That said, there are several fantastic beaches that are reachable by scooter or 4wd within about 15-20 minutes. The manager was surprised that we hadn't rented a car for the 10 days that we spent there - her skepticism was understandable in retrospect. But we enjoyed the walks down to Perissa beach and Akrotiri's main square, and rented transportation for the days that we visited Oia, Thira, etc.

  We cannot say enough good things about Aura Marina and their staff. We made this ground zero for our destination wedding. We rented the Eolo and the Zephiros for my myself, my wife, her 3 grown children, parents and cousins. The villas are architecturally superb, well thought out, and appealing to the eye. The accommodations were impeccable. We had plenty of room in our main villa - and with 5 of us no one was tripping over each other. My parents and cousin were quite comfortable in the Zephiros as well. There were plenty of towels and cooking utensils, televisions with DVD players (although we never turned the TV on), they were very clean and comfortable, and there was a dip pool outside each villa. Most rooms in the villas also had their own patios . The views of the caldera were amazing. We also had a bbq grill at our disposal. The staff made it even more special. Nike is the onsite manager and is simply incredible . There is nothing Nike could not procure within minutes. Without exaggeration – she procured a rental car and had it delivered to our door in 10 minutes (twice!!). Nike basically put together our entire wedding (without prior notice). Within 24 hours she found a photographer – guests (the locals were fantastic) – flowers – lanterns for the pool – hair and make-up – and as an added bonus Captain George broadcasted our wedding live on the internet (he also captained our sail boat charter two days later). You can also have your laundry done here for 6 Euros a load which was well worth it. Needless to say – Santorini is now in our top 5 destinations. The experience was incredible and we made lifelong friends at Aura Marina. Here are a couple extra tid bits. Aura Marina is located in the village of Akrotiri which is on the less populated Southern end of the Island. If you want to avoid being part of the spectacle in Fira or Oia – you can definitely avoid the gawking tourists in Akrotiri. There is plenty of tavernas, sites, hiking, and other activities on this part of the island which is a bit rural. It is quiet but only 10 minutes from the bars in Fira. Obviously we had a great time in Santorini. Nike and her entourage made it absolutely amazing. We cannot wait to go back.

  My Fiancee and I booked this Villa with very few reviews since it's pretty new but we decided to take a chance and we're so happy that we did!! We came here at the end of our 2 week Greece vacation and stayed for 5 nights. This turned out perfect because we needed some time to rest a little. Its outside of the busy cities but close to some of the beaches (by car). We loved our stay there. Everyone was very helpful with whatever we needed. We even decided to make dinners a couple of nights because we were tired of eating out and we loved our little home away from home. The private pools are also a great touch! we even got up early one morning to watch the sunrise from our private balcony! We were a little scared that the pictures weren't going to look like the actual place but they're exactly the same!

  Stayed here for a week. Nicki runs the place and is extremely helpful (like when Easyjet cancelled our flight and we needed to get back from the airport for an extra emergency night), as well as being a font of knowledge. The houses are beautiful, traditionally designed but very well constructed and furnished to a good standard. The way they are built and ventilated meant (optional) air-con was really not needed in September, even though it was scorching outside. The location means a car is necessary, but then you really need a car to get the most out of Santorini anyway. Driving to Fira or Oia is easy, roads are good. But the secluded location means no-one overlooks you, even when in the plunge pools, and there is pin-drop silence most of the time, except for the distant sea and birdsong (and the pool motor, which we often would just switch off to enjoy the silence). It sounds idyllic, and I think it really probably is. I don't mean to sound gushing about this place but it really made our stay in Santorini so much better than we'd imagined.

  We stayed at Aura Marina in September 2011. There were 6 of us staying in Eolo for 4 nights/5 days. Nike was a wonderful host and truly went out of her way to ensure a great stay. I would highly recommend splurging and doing the sailing trip with Captain George, it is well worth the extra money. Definitively get a car rental, the island isn't big but it was nice to be able to explore. We loved being in Akrotiri away from all the crowds in Fira and Oia!

  Just a short review to say how much we enjoed our stay at Aura Marina Aprtments. We were in the Mistral which is a two bedroomed apartment, it was very comfortable and well laid out, all the comforts of home, the views were to die for and the plunge pool very welcome. Nike the manager was very welcoming and friendly plus extremly helpful giving us lots of information. We miss the two cats who adopted us whist we were there we hope they will find other cat lovers. The only negative and its a small one was the lack of english TV programmes. We would througthly recommend Aura Marina to those who want an up market and peaceful holiday on the beautiful island of Santorini.

  My wife and I found Aura Marina through TripAdvisor. The apartment manager, Nike, is a consummate host and showered us with ace recommendations, hints to enjoy our time the most, and in-depth conversation. After an excellent introduction, on check in, about Greece, politics, island life, volcanic history, and her experiences having relocated to Santorini, we were supplied with every possible convenience in this spectacular place. There are excellent views from each apartment, a spartan but well appointed kitchenette, and the private plunge pools on each balcony are so peaceful you might find yourself approaching nirvana. There is ample room for families in the 4 + 1 apartments. Akrotiri is away from the crowds and protected from the bustle of rental quadbikes and scooters zooming everywhere on the island. You are best to have a car, but if that's over your budget, with planning the bus is cheap (< 2€ for most trips) and modern. All services are in tour bus-style coaches - look for the "local bus" signs on the front or you might think you're joining a tour. Unless you crave crushes of other travellers and the noise and stink of big city life, make Aura Marina your base and explore Santorini from this oasis. The crisis of Greece in the EU is overblown by the North American media. Until this morning when we were chatting with Nike again, we forgot that there was anything untoward happening in the Greek economy. The island, insulated from the mainland, is happy, getting on with life, and eager to please visitors. Don't stay home if you thought that Santorini shouldn't be on your travel list this year because of the turmoils shown in the news. Enjoy the peace, geology, food, and wine from the best little island in the Cyclades.

  We stayed at Aura Marina at the end of June and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay for our 7 nights on Santorini...The pools are perfect for cooling down in and a quick splash around, but not big enough for a swim (we headed to the beach a couple of times but found ourselves coming back to the comfort and privacy of our private pool). The apartments are simple but lovely in their design; light airy and in June we could sleep fine with just the windows open and no air-con (which is an extra). On a tight budget we cooked almost every day in the apartment (except two) eating on our table by the pool looking out over the Caldera and Oia in the distance. The kitchen amenities are limited but we found we could create some fantastic simple meals with fresh produce in only one pan and one grill. I advise planning ahead to bring spices and cans/non perishables you might need to avoid the high prices in the supermarkets. Renting a car is an absolute essential. The roads leading up to the apartments are quite steep and not fun to walk up with no pavements! The apartment manager Nike gave us some absolute gem recommendations, so definitely trust her advice! Avoid the crowds, eat local and watch the best sunsets from Santo Winery! (Only a 5 min drive away). For a couple or small family looking for a relaxing value for money break with stunning views and guaranteed sun, this place couldn't be better.

  We have just stayed in the Meltemi Apartment at Aura Marina for six nights. We could not have asked for anything else. Nike the apartment manager was so helpful with information on places to visit and restaurants to eat at. The apartments are extremely comfortable with the most amazing views. Having visited Oia and Fira we were so pleased that we decided on Aura Marina in Akrotiri. The apartments have all the comforts of home which made our stay here very pleasant.

  Nous étions deux couples d'amis à séjourner dans un appartement Aura Marina pendant 1 semaine et nous avons passé une semaine magnifique ! L'appartement est très charmant.. Impressionnante terrasse (vue magnifique sur la Caldeira.. on peut y passer des heures !) avec une petite piscine, mais suffisante pour se rafrâichir ! Quand le vent ne soufflait pas trop, nous passions de nombreuses soirées sur cette petite terrasse... Il manque peut-être juste un four à la location... mais à part ça, tout est à disposition pour cuisiner. Merci à Nike, qui nous a chaleureusement accueilli... et qui a passé beaucoup de temps à nous recommander des petites tavernes et plages (taverne Tsariki & plage de Vlychada au top !) Akrotiri est un village paisible, loin de la foule de Thira et Oia ! Nous avons énormément apprécié cette tranquilité.. mais nous étions quand même relativement proche de tout (grâce à la location de voiture, pour moi indispensable.. Oia est seulement à 40 min d'Akrotiri.) La red beach, les fouilles archéologiques d'Akrotiri, Vlychada, sont seulement à quelques minutes de l'appartement.. Personnellement, j'ai trouvé l'emplacement parfait ! 8 jours : parfait pour découvrir entièrement l'île tout en de détendant ... alterner visites / randos / musées & plages / détente, ce fut pour nous les vacances idéales ! A faire : une excursion bateau > escalader le volcan, sauter dans les hots springs, et petit dîner devant le coucher de soleil d'Oia ! Le top ! (un peu cher, mais ça vaut le coup !) Bref, je conseille vivement cet appartement pour ceux qui veulent passer un séjour de rêve !
