  • Comfortable and convenient base for the Cote d'Or

"We've stayed here twice in the past couple of years, and look forward to returning. Sarah and Ken have created a comfortable home away from home for people who want to enjoy Semur and the wider experience of Bourgogne. Semur is an amazing example of a well preserved medieval city. It's small enough that you can cover it on foot easily, but big enough to have a selection of restaurants, cafes, bakeries, wine shops and even a supermarket. There is a lot to explore. From this location, it's an easy drive or bus/train to Dijon, Beaune and Paris. There are lots of interesting small towns in the region just a few minutes away by car. The house contains a collection of travel information in several languages. WiFi makes it easy to do internet research as necessary. The house is equipped with everything you need for a short or long stay. It's well located for easy access to town. Having access to the private garden and courtyard is an extra plus in the summer for those who like to dine outside. I recommend it heartily."

  • Spacious, well furnished apartment in Beaune

"Our family of four including our two boys age 13 and 6 stayed in this spacious 2 bedroom apartment for 4 days this April. Joce was a delight to work with, prompt with answers to all of my questions. We were met by Joce and Yan upon arrival and they helped carry our luggage to the first floor apartment and directed us to the secure parking garage nearby (free of charge to guests). The apartment is centrally located in the old city. The Sunday market in the square across from Hotel Dieu is a must do and the rampart walk is highly recommended. Joce has a visitors book filled with recommendations on activities, restaurants, wineries and detailed city maps which we found very helpful. The apartment is lovely and very clean with wooden beams on the ceilings in the living room and one of the bedrooms. The kitchen is large and well equipped and opens out to a covered terrace where we enjoyed our morning tea. Joce and Yan have thought of everything to make their guests feel right at home. There are plenty of good quality dishes, silverware, cooking utensils, spices and condiments in the kitchen. Milk, butter and a bottle of wine were waiting for us in the refrigerator which was very helpful to get us started. We used the washing machine to do some laundry and there was a drying rack to dry out clothes in the kitchen or out on the terrace. Joce went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. We wanted to wash a few pieces of clothing prior to our return and realized that the laundry detergent was out. It was almost 9 PM, shops were closed and I called Joce to find out if there might be some extra detergent somewhere in the apartment. There wasn't, but Joce came over right away and dropped off a couple of detergent pouches so we could get our last minute laundry done. Thank you Joce and Yan, for making our stay in Beaune so comfortable! We loved the area and look forward to returning some day and if we do, we know where we will be staying!"

  • A Beane Christmas

"Our family had the pleasure of staying in Le Relais du Vieux Beaune over Christmas 2014. This charming apartment is welcoming, comfortable, well-equipeed and spacious. The voluminous information provided by Laura and Franck on Beaune and Burgundy was very helpful. The bottle of pinot noir thoughtfully left for us was also appreciated and a good introduction to the wonders of the Beaune cellars! We enjoyed spending time in the cosy apartment and took good advantage of its proximity to the town centre, shops, restaurants and the path along the medieval wall. We frequented both nearby boulangeries for our morning baguettes and croissants. Christmas proved to be a lovely time to visit Beaune. Highlights included a Christmas concert in the Marche aux Vins and Christmas Eve mass in Notre Dame de Beaune. We highly recommend Le Relais and look forward to returning for a summer visit sometime in the future."

  • Burgundy delight!

"La Ferme de la Lochère VRBO #142031 6 Rue de la Lochere Marigny le Cahouet France 21150 Katherine’s five bedroom en suite country estate provides a most comfortable home from which to explore Burgundy. Our group of young seniors enjoyed Katherine’s culinary treats for 5 nights including one of her special menus including terrific wine selections. We shopped for and prepared the other two evening meals. Some of us jumped in the pool after a day of visiting the beautiful countryside. Beaune is a 65-70 minute trip south while Dijon is a bit closer, 35-45 minutes. Better yet are the visits to the beautiful villages of Vezelay, Chateauneuf, Flavigny-sur-Ozerain, Noyers and Semur-en-Brionnais. Enjoy the cuisine at L’Oree du bois in Chateauneuf, the restaurant of Katherine’s brother Stephen. Driving through the villages is exciting since the roads were designed for horse and carriage. Burgundy is beautiful! Katherine only makes it better. Truly a terrific vacation home. Bill & Gail, New Jersey, September, 2014"
