  • Charming and Lovely Casa

"My friend and I stayed at Casa Amarillo in early November 2014 and I can't imagine staying anywhere else. I visited SMA last year and enjoyed it, and while there, saw this charming enclave of townhouses through the gates, so it was wonderful to discover this was the same place. The photos do not do it justice---very spacious, light, and comfortable, with any amenity you could want (except the dishwasher which isn't needed). Maria, the housekeeper, comes 3 times a week, and is so nice, friendly and goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. The roof terrace has fabulous views, and the patios make it feel open and spacious. The two bedrooms with ensuite baths are both upstairs with a TV area in between. Both are very comfortable with those delightful boveda brick ceilings. There is also a powder room on the first floor. The location is excellent too---around the corner from the Rosewood Hotel which is a must do for the first night. Have a drink on their roof terrace---fabulous. Also on Saturday, the casa is a short walk from the farmer's market. Filtered water is abundant. The town of SMA is safe, and this is particularly safe and only about a 10 minute walk from the main square. A car is not needed at all. Thank you Peter, Gwen, and Maria!"

  • Fantastic experience all around

"I can't say enough positive things both about the house, and the owners as well. As a VRBO owner ourselves, we sometimes have our expectations set too high, but we were very happy from our first communication, to our arrival , right through to our final day. The house exceeded our expectations, we loved living among the local families, loved the fabulous views, and loved that the house had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It's an easy walk to town , and we discovered it's also an easy walk to the botanical gardens from the house, which shouldn't be missed. The owners are great to deal with, very responsive and helpful. Thank you again for opening your lovely home to us, we hope to return again soon!"

  • Best Rental in San Miguel

"My wife and grown children stayed here for 2 weeks. We have used VRBO for something like 20 years now and this rental property rates at the top for beauty and value. Everything about the interior is just great. The owner has done a fabulous job with great artwork and my wife and I enjoyed it every day. There are many things to do in San Miguel. This house is located on a hill as is most of the town and so at 6500 ft elevation make sure you take a few days to adjust to the altitude. Up the street is a neighborhood called the Balconies. Great exercise and a beautiful walk. All taxis are 40 pesos anywhere in town. 50 pesos if you call them. So cheap and everyone is so nice wherever you go The botanical gardens are a 20 min walk up the hill and make sure to eat breakfast there one day if you can. Tuesday is the market, (Tianguis market). If you really want to see the locals and how they live, This is the place. Great place to buy produce. Right of the farm. The place is huge. Very safe. Also, It is right next to Soriana market and so an easy walk to the supermarket and you can take a taxi home. There are so many great restaurants in San Miguel. Just a few not to miss. Luna is great, They do not serve till 2:00 but the view is amazing and the food is 5 star. Also A little trick is that in the 5 star hotels if you eat lunch or have drinks you can hang out by the pool all day for free. Muro Cafe is not to be missed. Breakfast and lunch only. Closed Wed. Really great food. Mostly expats. Seems most eat there all the time, I can see why. Cupanios bakery just off the Jardin is excellent. Do not miss this one. The Restaurant is also 5 star and said to be very expensive but considering the quality of the food. Very reasonable. Via Organica is really great breakfast and lunch. Try a margarita there, The best ever. One last place The taco truck off the Jardin, there on the weekends. Best taco ever. If you rent this property you will not be disappointed. We will be back for sure."
