  • Wonderful city break with friends and family

"Not sure where to begin. Coming from a New England winter, the house was an incredible explosion of color, light, design, culture and comfort. We stayed for a month with another family with young children and would love to go back. There was plenty of room for everyone with extra to spare if anyone wanted a little extra space, in the garden, on the roof (not recommended for kids), or courtyard. Jesus and Juana helped make the place home, with his care for the garden and hers for the house and kitchen. Her food was fabulous - stewed chicken, rice, totopos - and a delight to come home after a day in town to a comforting meal for 8. The house is perfectly located a couple blocks from just about everything - the Jardim, Parque Juarez, the other squares and churches, la biblioteca, good coffee, breakfast, evening drinks... Working with the owner was extremely pleasant and trouble free. Can't wait to return."

  • Truly Wonderful! Why leave?

"We chose Casa de la Luz for an extended family gathering with my parents and children. After arriving, everyone's reaction was: "why leave?" It was perfect for a family gathering - everyone had their own space, with lots of options (eating outdoors, reading, swimming, playing soccer) and lots of space to stretch out. The home was beautiful and well cared for - you can tell the owners have put a lot of thought into making everything appealing and comfortable, and have all the little extras that make a real difference for vacation rentals (extra towels, candles, games, a fully stocked kitchen with nice knives). The pictures on this site don't do it full justice. The house is in a real neighborhood, and near the Market, which we loved. It is a bit of a walk to town, but we did it multiple times a day with no issue (ages 3 to 79). Also, everyone loved having the help of a cook, whose food was wonderful, and made life so much easier for everyone. I would recommend this house to anyone visiting San Miguel."

  • Our Best Vacation Ever!

"We always struggle about where to go on vacation. I love a hot beach and my husband cannot stand heat or sand. What we do agree on is that we both love great food. San Miguel proved to be a perfect match for both of us. Since there was no humidity, 80 degrees was very comfortable for both of us. The evenings were lovely and cool. The town of San Miguel is gorgeous; a riot of colors, music everywhere, epic shopping, street vendors selling the best tacos we've ever had, upscale restaurants everywhere and the surrounding countryside is full of opportunities to hike, go horseback riding and explore hot springs. Even if you don't speak Spanish, the shopkeepers and restaurant staff do, and they are all very friendly and helpful. I'm going to say it again: Don't miss the street food - it is simply the best, freshest way to eat authentic Mexican food. The beautifully furnished house is spectacular! It has a modern open layout which allows for great family time but there are also plenty of places to which you can escape for privacy. Take your pick from 3 terraces: one poolside, and two different rooftops. I recommend cocktails on the uppermost terrace with a perfect view of San Miguel at sunset. The lush garden features a solar heated saline hot tub and swimming pool, so we could bask in the warm water after a fun day exploring/shopping/horseback riding. The beds were all extremely comfortable, which we appreciated as we were happily exhausted at the end of each day. One word of warning, there are real estate offices throughout the town, and we have heard that many people come for a visit and end up buying a house before the week is over!"

  • Best Accomodations so far.....

"We have been visiting SMA yearly for the past 10 years or so.... We have rented everything from Casitas, to full Casa's, to new Condo's all around SMA... Case Monet is by far, one of our most pleasant experiences... Location was ideal, apartment was as advertised, cozy, comfortable, and had all we needed to for a pleasant 5 week stay... Bill Mendenhall the owner and manager of the Cafe Monet lives directly across the foyer and he could not be more pleasant and helpful in making your stay a great visit... We had a chance to meet Kati, the owner of the apartments in one of her visits to SMA and she was also very attentive to our needs and had people in to fix a couple of detail issues as soon as she was aware of them... All in all, we enjoyed our stay very much and are already planning for next years trip... As mentioned, in the past we would look for different places in different areas to get to know the whole city better, however, we will probably try to rent this same apartment next year, if available, for our dates.... I would highly recommend the apartment and the owners to any and all of our friends visiting SMA... Ps....bonus feature....Bill's Dinner and a Movie on Monday Nights.....hope for the Cajun Meatloaf..."
