  • Sun In The Morning And The Moon At Night

"This is a home for beach lovers Early morning coffee on the front deck. So very quiet and peaceful. Birds calling to each other, Pelicans dive bombing for breakfast..and Dolphins making a splash. Walk across the sand and wiggle your toes in the gulf wates...find sea glass and shells. After a glorious sunset wait for the moon and stars. If you ever need any help call Carlos. (he lives next door)...he has been the caretaker for many years. The owners are just an e-mail away. Miss Kitty (my older cat) and I have loved being here for 2 years. We hope to return after visiting our family in the states. Come and enjoy! We think you will love it too!"

  • Our Home Away from Home!!

"This beach house was great for our one month vacation by the ocean. It had all the amenities that we required. The WiFi was a great asset for us to keep in touch with our family and friends. When we arrived the house was clean and inviting with a few supplies and a large jug of water. The ocean view from the veranda was spectacular and there were chairs and a nice eating area for us to have a early morning coffee or siesta. Carlos the caretaker - a phone call away was fantastic - and very helpful in ensuring that we were comfortable. Any repairs, maintainance or removing our weekly garbage was done immediately!! The owner of this home was the most wonderful person, not only very accommodating and very helpful in any questions we had... and believe me...I had many to answer!!! The new microwave, toaster and gas BBQ were delivered within days of contacting the owner by email. The description and photos of the house was accurate, and 3 days after arriving we contacted the owner to book 2 months next year, that's how much we loved it!! We took a cambio into Progreso for 20 peso each, which drooped us in the centre of town, where we shopped at local markets and two large grocery stores - San Francisco and the Bodega, which is similar to Costco. The cab ride back cost us 115 pesos - door to door! We found no need for a car, because the local cambio and cab service is very efficient and really reasonable! The local folks are wonderful people, even with OUR lack of Spanish they helped us out in the market, on the streets and even taking the rides to and from town...very kind, patient, friendly, loving people. We enjoyed our time here...and will be back for more sun, sand, ocean & cocktails next year!!"

  • Perfect Honeymoon Getaway

"We celebrated our honeymoon in June and this vacation site was perfect for us; peaceful, beautiful, quiet, and romantic. Almost every evening, we would take lawn chairs down to the beach and watch the sun set. The colors are spectacular and set the stage for several photo opts. In addition to the sunsets, we found ourselves enjoying the beach and pool every day. Having direct beach access is a highlight of this home. Many hours were spent seashell hunting along the beach or sitting in the sand and letting the waves splash against us. We appreciated that we could walk out far into the water and only be waist deep. The pool was refreshing and we spent a lot of time on the back porch in the shade playing cards and reading. Several of our meals were cooked at the house and we tried many food items that are not available in our supermarkets back in Minnesota. In addition to the above, we really enjoyed the local attractions and talking with the friendly people living in Chuburna and Chelem. We picked up a copy of Yucatan Today in Merida and found it a great resource to plan our day trips and learn more about the culture. We vacationed during off peak time and used ChelemEvents on Facebook to help plan some of our lunch and dinner outings. This home and location exceeded our expectations and we look forward to bringing family back someday to experience this beautiful site."

  • just what we were looking for

"Great time in small town Chelem. Seriously, people getting around on horseback! The house itself looks exactly as it does in the pictures. There were 6 of us(2 couples and 2 singles), and everybody had plenty of room and comfort in their own rooms. Enough glasses, dishes, pots and pans etc. for any need you would have. Kitchen appliances were all in good working order. House was clean and maybe it was the time of the year, but we didn't see many of the bugs we were warned about. However, bring some bug spray cause at dusk the mosquitos come out with a vengeance! Water in the 2 big jugs provided lasted for the week. The owners were good communicators, and the caretaker Joan was easily summoned if needed. Only had two problems while there… AC in the master conked out for the last day we were there(luckily the temp had dropped that night!) and we did go a day w/o showers due to a faulty water pump. However, even after some confusion with keys, the water was fixed and running by the time we got back from day long activities. Good hot water in the showers, best water pressure in the downstairs one (of course). Very secure property if you follow all the instructions to make it that way. Tacomaya right near the house was really good. The other expat places were good for a drink at night, but we opted for the more authentic places in town for eating. Take the combis to Progreso for only 8 pesos one way. They drop you off at a grocery store there, and there are way more places to eat in Progreso. We would recommend EL Toro for fried fish. If you stay out late in Progreso or get there after a late night in Merida, a taxi only cost us 100 pesos no matter how many people were in the car. Pool was awesome and well maintained. Maybe they could spring for some more chaise lounges or a few pool noodles(hint, hint). We wanted to stay in an owner occupied home , and were not disappointed! Security was returned within a day or so. We would recommend this home very highly!"

Progreso Travel Tips

Fair Weather and Fairer Days: Progreso Vacation Rentals

Just beyond the capital of Merida, cradled between emerald waters and golden sands, is the city of Progreso. It is a haven for the weary, offering quiet streets and local charm. Its centralized location makes it perfect for those seeking diversity (with many offerings of popular beaches and shops). Its innate atmosphere makes it perfect for those who simply need to relax. It stands as the answer for any who want peace. And with Progreso vacation rentals that peace is sure to last.

Surround Yourself With the sea With Progreso Resorts

It's the cliché you've always wanted: a hammock swung between two palms, the waves lazily stirring, a secluded day with only the sun for company. You think that exists only in a fantasy. Well think again. Progreso is the definition of easy breezes. Your time will be spent admiring the spectacular scenery, the picturesque town. Stroll through the shops and revel in the lack of hustling crowds. And then, if you hunger for a faster pace, you can simply drive to the neighboring areas, like Merida and its many attractions, or Chelem with its wild coast. You can have it all.

Find True Luxury With Yucatan Condos

Progreso allows you the freedom to be truly lazy, to tempt yourself away from the perils of work. But laziness doesn't have to be kept to a hotel, where all that lounging will seem monotonous in one room. Treat yourself to a more efficient, more stylish, alternative: rental homes. Think of them as investments toward your good intentions. You want the best vacation, after all. That's not going to happen if you're stuck in a hotel. Progreso is for the family who needs a break from their obligations. Why leave one hectic schedule for another? Why not instead just relax?
