  • The WOW Factor Explained

"We have traveled extensively through out our working careers for both work and play. Past retirement, we continue to travel as much as possible. One of our favorite destinations is the Waikiki area. First visit for me was in 1959, stationed Navy, Ford Island 60s, honeymooned 70s, and have tried to make it back to the Islands every year since. We have witnessed the areas growth and kept on top of what and where the best locations were to stay. In our opinion, if you are researching the Waikiki area trying to find a great place to stay, just stop looking, you will not find a better condo unit or location than this one. You wake each morning with an un-obstructed view of Diamond Head literally at your feet along with an occasional rainbow. Later you may hear unusual sounds from the Honolulu Zoo, very refreshingly unique. Breathtaking views from the kitchen or about anywhere within the condo. The walls are decorated with uniquely selected art making us feel at home in the Islands. A couple block walk to the beach or park. The building is located in a "not" crowded part of Waikiki and that is unique for Waikiki. A main bus stop is one block away. It happens to be the beginning of the route so always a seat available, very convenient. If any questions came up, the owners response was immediate. Our stay was beautiful. One re-occurring event was noted, found ourselves saying "WOW" over and over so we believe that says it all. Mahalo Richard & Sherrie Santa Barbara, Ca."

"Thank you for sharing your beautiful condo with us. It truly was a home away from home. It has everything you need for a wonderful vacation. The photos were accurate and the owners were very helpful.Lots of nearby restaurants,ABC Stores and a food pantry for your groceries. Beach is a quick 5 min walk as is all the shopping you could want. One plus would be that this place comes with a parking stall. Would definitely recommend this condo to anyone who is looking for a clean and well maintained place to stay while on vacation in Waikiki. Again thank you!"

  • Perfection!

"Perfect location! We've stayed at The Shore before, and this was a very convenient condo. It is on the 3rd floor, so no need to wait for the elevator that sometimes takes a while because it's a 14 floor building. The area is right on the beach. The condo is very clean, newly renovated, all the amenities you need are there. There are spices, and extras such as peanut butter, salt, etc from other people that have been there to cook with if need be, pots, pans, a coffee maker, a blender wine glasses, etc. The bed was comfortable, there is full wifi, full stations on tv as well. I recommend bringing some DVD's if you want to watch movies, but he has a few. There are many bath towels, and linens provided though I recommend bringing beach towels. There are 2 hair dryers too, so no need to bring one. The building is right next to the Outrigger, so you have access to the restaurant and the Shorebird which was our favorite place to hang out at night and watch people karaoke every night, or go and listen to live Hawaiian music by the pool at 7pm. Happy hour at 10pm. The beach area is quieter than the main beach which is great, but all in all, the area is totally central. Maybe a 5 minute walk to shopping district, and there are ABC stores everywhere. I swear you can't get a better deal or a better price! We will be back 100%"

  • Lovely studio, great location!

"We have recently returned from 9 days in Rob’s very comfortable flat. Everything is just as described, quiet, lovely views from the lanai and also from open balconies at two other sides of the building. Rob has thought of everything from the very well equipped kitchen, lots of storage, very comfortable bed and even beach items if you want to use them. If you bring your iPod you can have your own music (we forgot ours) but the free wi-fi was great. The location was perfect too, being bang in the middle of everything. You can walk to shops, beach or Fort DeRussy Park in one direction or along the canal in the other (energetic types can jog there if they feel the urge, it’s so quiet.) Very handy to bus stops if you don’t have a car - or free parking in the building if you do have one. The building itself is very secure and lifts are good with no waiting. We have rented flats in other parts of the world and sometimes they don’t live up to the blurb, however I’d say the photos here are very accurate as is the description. We felt at home here – recommended!"

Things to Do in Waikiki

Diamond Head: As one of Hawaii’s most well-known landmarks, Diamond Head is a volcanic tuft cone with an exciting hiking trail, amazing coastal views and military history. The crater was formed more than 300,000 years ago during an explosive volcanic eruption. The trail was built in 1908 as part of a coastal defense system, and on the summit itself you'll see military bunkers. The top of the hike also provides a postcard-like view of the shoreline.

Waikiki Beach: Waikiki Beach is one of the most famous in the world. You won’t want to miss out on the two-mile stretch of white sandy shores meeting stunning, warm waters. Waikiki Beach is the perfect spot to stretch out that towel and relax in the warm sun with a good book or take to the water for adventures with boogie boards, surfing and swimming. It’s also a great place to try out a catamaran or outrigger canoe ride.

Society of Seven (SoS): For some top-notch Hawaiian entertainment, look no further than the Society of Seven. This group has been headlining shows at the Outrigger Main Showroom since 1969 and still wows crowds to this day. The Hawaiian band puts everything they have into each show, displaying their talent and energy every time they take the stage. Each performance is full of singing, dancing and comedy skits, showing off their hilarious personalities. SoS has released many albums and also has a regular show in Las Vegas. The SoS show in Waikiki is a favorite among locals and visitors alike.

Pearl Harbor: There are a variety of exhibits, memorials, displays and museums within the ground of Pearl Harbor to honor those lost in the attacks and those who served during the second World War.

USS Arizona Memorial: Part of Pearl Harbor is the USS Arizona Memorial. This spot marks the resting place of more than 1,000 sailors and Marines killed during the attack during WWII. The memorial was built in 1962 and is certainly a historic and moving place to visit. The remains of the the battleship were declared a National Historic landmark in 1989.
