"I just celebrated my 50th birthday here with a close group of friends. We were smaller than a wedding, but too big of a group for the house. Gen accommodated us perfectly, allowing some to camp by the river and the rest of us to stay in the house. I can't say enough about what a beautiful spot this is. The house is lovely, comfortable and decorated so perfectly for a farm house--it almost feels like a movie set. You will want to live there forever. The grounds are roomy and well-groomed. Dinner in the mini barn with twinkling lights and candles was unforgettable. Above all, the view of the mountain, especially at sunrise and sunset, makes this place super-special. Everyone who came to my party has vowed to come back to Farmgate. I can't imagine not loving it. Thanks to Gen, who was super easy to deal with and helpful."

Beautiful location, very comfortable accommodation -- but the trains
"We stayed at the Riverhouse two nights (5/23 and 5/24/14). The house itself is marvelous, the view unbelievable. There are two coves nearby that we enjoyed. The house is pet friendly, and our golden retriever certainly enjoyed being there, especially getting to swim in the coves. The property is mostly fenced, which helped with the dog. However, if it were my property I would want to let renters know that the railroad is right outside the fenced area, and trains come by several times, day and night (last night there were at least 5 trains), including at least one that appeared to be a train hauling crude oil. I know there's nothing that the owner can do about that, but I do think that it's worth mentioning to a potential renter. The fence does not fully enclose the property, so pets and children need to be monitored. You need to cross two sets of tracks leading to the property, and given the numbers of trains, one needs to be very diligent about crossing the tracks.
There's lots to see and do in the immediate area. Again, it's a beautiful, historical area, but as far as I'm concerned, the train is an issue and a potential renter should be informed. Not sure I would stay there again, only because of the train. Just too loud (and the house even shook)."
