Notes
- Notes on accommodation: Le Haut Fresnay is a lovely place for family holidays, offering space for children to play, as well as privacy both outdoors and inside for parents. Whilst only La Fresnaie offers accommodation for the disabled and less mobile, La Fermette is spacious and is ideal for families. Also, with its 2 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, La Fermette will appeal to 2 couples holidaying together, or perhaps a 3-generation family. Le Fournil is a cosy cottage, ideal for a couple with, or without, children. For all our guests, we are on hand to offer help and advice about sightseeing, dining or even visiting the doctor if necessary. We can book restaurant tables and check opening hours. For the cooler months of the year, all 3 cottages have wood-burning stoves in the living rooms, with electric radiators as well in all rooms, with the option of central control in La Fermette and La Fresnaie, and individually in Le Fournil

Ask a questionAbout Gp Capt N A and Mrs P S Colman
We have lived, or had a home, in North Yorkshire since 1978, and have grown to love the Yorkshire Dales, especially Swaledale. We have led a nomadic life for many years, which is the nature of being in the RAF. Now, ‘retired’ and in our early 70s, we still have a nomadic lifestyle. In 1993, we purchased and restored a collection of old farm buildings at Le Haut Fresnay in Normandy. This is now our second home, where we spend several months of the year managing our 3 holiday cottages there. In 1996, we acquired Corner House in Grinton, to which we return each year to relax during the winter months. Grinton and Le Haut Fresnay are delightful places, each different, but both homes we love and cherish. We invite you to come and share our enjoyment of them. You will not find a warmer welcome!

Why Gp Capt N A and Mrs P S Colman chose Juvigny-Val-d'Andaine
After many holidays in France, during which we always had an eye open to the possibility of buying a second home, with outbuildings and land, we were drawn inexorably towards Normandy. Not only was it quite close to the UK, enabling us to remain within easy travelling distance of our families, but it was also - to us - a beautiful part of France. So it was that on a cold and damp November day we happened upon Le Haut Fresnay in the Orne region of southern Normandy. We knew what we were looking for, and Le Haut Fresnay fitted the bill. We took early retirement and embarked on our mission to create a nice home for ourselves, using a derelict barn, and at the same time to turn the other farm buildings into holiday cottages. All are well established and have been in operation for some 25 years.
What makes this Cottage unique
Now, after 25 years and with all the hard work behind us, we have our lovely home and 3 holiday cottages, to which many of our guests return year after year. They, like us, enjoy in particular the peace and tranquillity that is a special feature of Le Haut Fresnay. It is a place to relax and shake off the shackles of everyday life, a place to soak up the atmosphere, whether it be on the terrace under a starry summer sky, or in the comfort of the cottage living room with a glass of wine and the woodburning stove for company. Our cottages offer a home from home, with every modern convenience. If you happen to be disabled we can offer you La Fresnaie, which we designed and built expressly for disabled guests. For our part, we offer a warm welcome and we can provide whatever help is needed.
