Scarborough is a traditional seaside resort with something for all age groups. On the North Bay there’s the Alpamare Waterpark with its water chutes and wave machine, as well as Peasholm Park, with its beautiful gardens and lake. The Marine Drive is nearby and is over 4 miles long making it great for leisurely walks along the seafront. Scarborough Castle, once a Royal fortress and now a popular English Heritage Site, stands proud on the cliff top with its 12th-century tower overlooking the north and south bays. Scarborough also has a great variety of restaurants, bars and tearooms, as well as the Stephen Joseph Theatre, home to most of Alan Ayckbourn’s plays.
Travel north and you will reach the North York Moors National Park, where you will find a variety of woodland trails, great for walking and cycling. The Dalby Forest is also nearby and is home to the World Cup Mountain Bike competition with exhilarating trails, as well as more leisurely tracks for beginners, so why not make the most of the storage at the property for two bikes (situated up a flight of stairs), don your helmet and have a go! The seaside towns of Whitby, Filey and Bridlington are just a short drive away. Further along the coast you will find the RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs, where you can view the migrating sea birds from the viewing platforms. Beach 1 mile.
