Dougie’s Den is a charming stone built mid-terrace town house which has recently undergone complete internal renovation to a beautiful standard featuring sleek and stylish fixtures and fittings. Located on the outskirts of the centre of Alnwick, this cottage is the perfect home from home for those looking to explore the attractions of this historic town such as Barter Books, Alnwick Castle and the Gardens as well as the beautiful Northumbrian coastline and countryside.

2 minute walk to small supermarket. 5 to 10 minute walk to town centre, major supermarkets, and Willowburn Sports Centre and swimming pool, Alnwick Gardens and Alnwick castle entrance, Lilidorei, Barter Books and Alnwick Playhouse.

Living room with comfy seating, TV with Netflix, feature fireplace with electric stove. Dining table with seating for four guests.
Kitchen with electric oven and ceramic hob, under-counter fridge with freezer box, washing machine and microwave. Feature inglenook cove doubles as ‘Doggie’s Den’ an ideal hide out for the four-legged friends after a long walk! Double patio doors lead out onto an enclosed rear yard incorporating small decked area with seating.
Family bathroom, with shower over bath, WC, basin and heated towel rail (please note towels not provided)

Excellent house in convenient location

The house was very nice, great location, short walk to town centre. Co-op one minute away round the corner. Short drive to A1 so easy to get around the area.

Brilliant house, brilliant location

We had a great week in this fabulous house. It is in a perfect location to explore Northumberland with free parking right outside. It is really well equipped, clean and modern. Would thoroughly recommend.

Alnwick short stay

This property has been refurbished to a high standard and is very clean. It is bigger than expected although if 4 adults were staying then small bathroom would be cosy but not an issue for young children.This property is a good base for the area

Dougie’s Den was one of the best stays I have had. Cleanliness was outstanding. All modern conveniences. Superb location for Alnwick and surrounding areas. Super comfy beds and very quiet. Sweet garden was a bonus. Trish was always available and provided helpful local tips.house looks even better in person.

Cosy, comfortable house

Clean ,nicely decorated house. Alnwick is a great place to stay with many beautiful places to visit. So many castles and stunning beaches and countryside. House was very comfortable and the host provided dog bowls, orange juice and milk in the fridge. Lovely place ,would stay again ,as we still have lots to see. Alnwick is a lovely town and the locals very friendly.

Delightful Dougie's Den

Dougie's den is a lovely and most comfortable, well equipped and convenient base from which to explore Alnwick and the surrounding area. The outdoor sitting area to the rear is an afternoon sun trap. The house is less than 10 minutes walk from the pleasant town centre and friendly locals. Our trip was blessed with glorious weather which allowed us to enjoy several beautiful beach and coastal walks as well as a boat trip from Sea Houses to Holy Island followed by seal and sea bird watching around the Farne Islands. Trish is an excellent host - very helpful and quick to respond to any questions. There is lots of useful information in the house and recommendations of places to visit. Northumberland has plenty to offer and we intend to return to Dougie's Den to see more.

Lovely cottage with everything you need. Walking distance to town, very close to a couple of convenience stores. Lots of nearby walks in countryside and by river. Fabulous stay. All the reviews are spot on, this place is a great find. It’s been refurbished to a high standard with good quality furnishings. Spotlessly clean. The location is excellent, in a quiet neighbourhood, just a 5-10 minute walk to the centre of Alnwick and parking right outside the door. The perfect base for exploring further afield and attractions such as Alnwick Castle and the Alnwick Garden are within walking distance. This house ranks among the top places we’ve stayed in over 20 years.
