Ideal for families on vacation or teams with business at Olympia
About Martin Everard
Born in Singapore and evacuated to England a few days before the capitulation to the Japanese, I returned to Malaya aged 6 and for 3 years led a life of childhood bliss on various rubber estates. Sent to boarding school and growing up in England, I eventually as a teenager joined the BBC where I worked for the next 26 years. Now retired, I live in London in Kensington since 1976, now with a partner for the last 25 years. I look after and manage three apartments which are private homes. I am a retired television broadcast executive, with a CV that includes being a BBC television newsreader, a British America's Cup sailor, an owner of a television channel and a volunteer reader helper with Beanstalk. I also created and run an online virtual botanical art gallery for my mother, Barbara Everard. You can find details of all the above on the web. For my own R and R holidays, I like to cruise, preferably on smaller ships such as those with Windstar (Wind Surf, Star Pride) and Oceania (Insignia, Nautica). So far, I have traveled from Singapore to Phuket, several times in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean; South America and Cape Horn, the Falkland Islands and through the Panama Canal to Nicaragua and French Polynesia; South Africa, Namibia and Mozambique tfollowed last year on my first river cruise on the Rhone with Scenic. But, if I were to choose my favourite place to holiday, it would be on the Cote d'Azur near Cannes. The delights of places like Biot, Mougins, LaNapoule etc never fail to disperse my stresses!
What makes this Apartment unique
Walking distance to Kensington Olympia for those exhibiting at events there and great transport links to all those exciting places that visitors yearn to see on a London vacation. The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is home to Princes and Princesses, heirs to the throne, Dukes and Peers of the realm with a High Street on which you might bump into them at any time - well, hopefully not actually 'bump' but you might find yourself at a supermarket checkout beside one!

Very nice apartment
We rented this apartment for a trip with two grandchildren and it was perfect in every way except not as close to the sights of London as I had hoped. The nearest tube stop was a half mile away which wasn't such a problem, but then it took a while to get to the center of the city on the tube. The bus is a pleasant way to go somewhere but it takes a long time too. There are a few nice restaurants near the apartment which we enjoyed.
It was a pleasure to have you come and stay. With apologies for the slight discomfort and thank you for your forbearance! Couldn't help the distances from tube etc., but pleased it seemed not to have been too much of a problem.
Best wishes to you all,
Great flat in a lovely neighborhood
The flat was wonderful, the location was terrific, and Martin was really great to work with. The apartment had everything we needed. The skylights which provided so much natural light and the garden were huge bonuses
Great location and nice property
Really appreciated the host's helpfulness, all the travel hints and places to eat and drink in the welcome packet. Also, the stocking of refrigerator with basic food items was very considerate. We all enjoyed our stay and the closeness to Kensington High Street, felt part of a neighbourhood, liked walking in the area and the squares near by. Quiet and relaxing yet close to high street and buses to get around. Apartment was exactly as described and as shown in photos.
Thank you for expressing your thoughts and opinions about the apartment. I am so pleased that your stay went so well as to encourage others to follow in your footsteps on a visit to London.
your return to this or any of my other places is, of course, welcome any day, now that you know what to expect. And, a discount is always offered to returning guests and their recommended friends and colleagues.
Great place for families.
The property was perfect for our family of 5. Quiet neighborhood and convenient location. Martin was very helpful throughout the entire process...we would definitely recommend this property.

This flat was perfect for our needs. We are a family of six with 4 teens, so greatly appreciated having four single beds. The location -- as others have noted -- is outstanding, being close to lovely Holland Park, around the corner from fantastic restaurants & across the street from Kensington Olympia station. This was our first time at a VRBO, so we were pleased to see all the great resources left by other travelers. Importantly for our group, the apartment had all the right plugs to keep our millions of devices charged up. Martin was wonderful. He checked in with us a couple of times, which was just enough to make us feel well looked after. Clean linens, comfortable beds, everything in good working order. No complaints! Would be happy to return. Many thanks for a lovely stay --
Delighted that everything came up to expectations and more! I hope I haven't spoiled you for other hosts to look up to. And, of course, I have no qualms should you wish to come back one day or friends with your recommendation.
Great apartment in London
This is a great apartment in London and is right next to the Overground (which connects to the Tube and goes into downtown London). Also, it is a short walk from the Tube.
The property manager, Martin, was wonderful and there is literally nothing that was missing from the apartment.
I highly recommend.
Thank you! I am delighted that you had a great stay. See you again one day, I hope and best wishes for this New Year.
The apartment is a short walk to Shepherds Bush (Central Line) underground station, closer to Kensington Olympia (District Line) underground station and London Overground and 5 minutes walk to various bus routes, all making the centre of London, ie the West End less than 30 minutes away. Holland Park, Kensington Gardens and Palace are about 15 minutes away as is Notting Hill Gate for Portobello Road market.
