LA COSTA ROSSA (Gallura)
We are in the north, between Santa Teresa di Gallura and Castelsardo, to understand each other, and the adjective the Red Coast can only come from the shades of pink and red of the beaches, one more beautiful than the other. The erosion that created them, together with the bizarre rock formations of some cliffs, has as its protagonist a subject that can sometimes become annoying: his majesty the Mistral. But, unless you want a plastic vacation, under a bell jar, accepting the conditioning of nature and, indeed, observing and adapting to it is part of the beauty of the journey.
the choice is really vast and always dominated by shades of blue. Some names: Li Feruli, Spiaggia-Longa, Cala Sarraina, Li Femini. Some are connected by fascinating coastal paths that can be the goal of a day trip.
The main centers to refer to for services of any kind, are Trinita d'Agultu and Vignola, Costa Paradiso and Isola Rossa, with the basic tourist port for diving excursions in the splendid seabeds of the area. The interior with rural churches is also of great interest, with the center of Tempio Pausania and the famous Valle della Luna with its suggestive granite rocks. The beautiful village of Aggius, with its ethnographic museums, deserves a separate discussion.
Among the curiosities of the area, the Alburu di li Banderi and the Cupole. The first is an age-old juniper that on the beach of Li Feruli recalls the victims of the Tripoli steamer, the post sunk during the First World War off Capo Figari. The latter are private residences built in the 1960s by the architect Dante Bini. Private property can only be admired from the outside.
