About Debra Stites
We are the third owner of Bear Creek Cottage. It was built in 1920's by the Chapman family and remodeled by their son Bob Chapman in 1970's. The home is very special to us and historic to the Mt Baldy Village. We moved to Breckenridge, CO in 1989. I am a CA and CO real estate broker for 30+ years. A large tree fell and smashed the roof in 2016. The roof was replaced and the interior remodeled. We love spending time there as a family and know you will also. It holds a very special place in our hearts.

Why Debra Stites chose Mount Baldy
The sound of the water along with the tranquility pleases everyone. It has a magical element that comes with the age of the home. For many years it has been a place for our family to gather and enjoy the serenity and peacefulness.
What makes this Cottage unique
The detail and art of the thoughtfully placed stones is not to be missed. Every rock is local and placed meticulously by master masons 100 years ago. This home went through the flood of the the 1930's with very little or no damage. All the wood is from the area and meant to last many lifetimes. We worked hard to keep it as original as possible and hope you appreciate its uniqueness as we do. It is an antique and needs to be treated as gently as possible.

Quiet Mt. Baldy Cabin
Beautiful property overall, quiet and comfortable right next to a stream. Highlights are a modern kitchen, gas fireplace, great beds and linens and a get away from it all rustic cabin feel. Really only 20 mins from Claremont up twisty Mt. Baldy road. Only real downside is slow and weak WiFi, and one bedroom is off the living room so not much privacy there. Great overall!
Great property, highly recommend!
We came to Mt Baldy for the weekend to ski. The house was conveniently located and was the perfect retreat from a day on the mountain. Debra was responsive at all times and the house couldn't be more charming. The kitchen has everything you could need and the bathrooms are well stocked with towels, soaps, shampoo, conditioner and even bath salts. The gas fireplace is lovely and the seating area is very welcoming. The beds were very comfortable as well. The only item of note is that the downstairs bedroom does not have any separation from the main room so this is best for the late to bed, early to rise guests (which with 2 kids we happen to be). I would highly recommend the property.
Beautiful, cozy mountain home in lovely wooded setting.
We were welcomed with fresh flowers, snacks and chocolate into this quiet retreat about 20 minutes from Claremont up the Mt. Baldy Rd. The home is in a heavily wooded setting with a creek nearby and lots of birdlife. It is very clean and well taken care of, and nicely furnished. The beds are comfortable (memory foam with pillow tops). Huge stone (gas) fireplace is very pleasant to sit around in leather chairs and couch with comfy blankets as well. Beautiful wood floors, shutters, beams and walls, with stonework and stained glass too. Really a gorgeous home and setting.
Weather was cool and wet for us in mid May, about 10 degrees cooler than Claremont, so we used the heat and fireplace and blankets. There are two bedrooms upstairs and a bed off the living room downstairs that is basically part of the living room.
The kitchen is well provisioned and the appliances may be brand new.
The owner is very flexible and responsive and delightful to work with. We would recommend this home to anyone.
This cottage is located in the Mt. Baldy Village (4000 feet above sea level). The ski area is 10 minutes up the mountain. The nearest towns for groceries, gas and shopping are Claremont and Upland (15 minutes down the hill). The Mt Baldy Lodge is a great fun place to go for food and entertainment (just a couple of blocks up the road). All other restaurants will be located in Claremont and Upland.
