Casa Mateus Suite - Aregos Douro Valley

The Casa Mateus Suite is a 1 bedroom detached house located in the Douro Valley and next to the historical train station of Aregos (Tormes). Due to its location, it is possible to have unique views over the Douro river. The suite has a separate entrance and is equipped with a kitchenette, complete bathroom and bedroom / living room with TV. This is an excellent location for couples who are looking for a good place to relax, wonderful views, hospitality, history, wonderful gastronomy and wines.

The Mateus Suite is equipped with linen and kitchenware to prepare light meals. It is located 100m from the Aregos Train Station from where it is very easy to travel to the center of Porto (1h40 journey) or to Pinhão.

The Casa Mateus Suite is just next to the Douro River. There is a water taxi that stops at the pier just in front of the house and that connects the two river banks. In the other river bank you have a marina, nice bars, a restaurant and a thermal Spa. Next to the house (100 m) there is a very nice Tavern where you can taste the local's wonderful gastronomy and wines. The local tourism office at the train station will also be able to organize small tours and visits to the local vineyards. Taxi service is available at the trains station.

A Spectacular Location

We were met by the host's representative at the village train station and escorted to the property 100 steps away. The little shop at the train station, owned by Sara, was our tour guide, information station and place for coffee and wine. Loved every minute of the stay! The family hosts were super attentive and always promptly answered any questions.

God information og smukke omgivelser

Vi havde en dejlig uge i Casa Mateus og en virkelig god kommunikation omkring vores ophold med forslag til, hvad vi skulle se. Vi var på togtur til Porto, Regua og Pinhao, besøgte Braga, Amarante, Guimaraes og Vila Real samt nød det fantastisk smukke landskab på de forskellige ture. Man skal dog være forberedt på, at det tager lang tid at køre i området. 40 km er ikke kørt på en halv time som på almindelige landeveje. Lejligheden fungerer godt, men køkkenet er meget lille, og det er svært at nå tingene på hylderne. Vi manglede en god kniv til at skære brød med. Et lidt større udendørs bord og lidt mere behagelige stole eller hynder kunne også have været rart. Tak for en god uge! Lars og Ulla-Britt

Petit studio au calme

Appartement bien agencé, équipé, propre, avec super terrasse et BBQ au bord du fleuve. Très jolie vue sur l'eau et les montagnes. Station de train juste derrière mais peu de passage. Malheureusement pour nous, les termes spa sur la rive en face sont fermés pour travaux en ce mois d'avril et pour plusieurs mois. Une voiture est nécessaire car ce sont des routes de montagne sinueuses et abrités. Appartement isolé dans un hameau. Supermarché à 30 minutes. Accueil sympa.

Perfect spot to relax and enjoy the views of the Douro.

A small room with all the modern facilities required to enjoy the area. Beautifull views on the Douro and lots of privacy. But still not to isolated with the village acros the river, boats in the river and once in a while a train. Plenty of room on the patio to relax, eat and drink. You will need a car to get around. And you should not be in a hurry. Ask the owners about the history of the house, very interesting.
