Excellent Cabin with great sledding hill in back!

  • 5 of 5

We just stayed 5 nights over winter break and the cabin was perfect - cozy main room & kitchen and downstairs for kids/teens to hang out. We had a ton of snow and made a fantastic sled/saucer hill just behind the house.

Great spot

  • 5 of 5

We stayed with 6 adults and 5 kids and there was plenty of room! Very convenient to Alpine where we skied for the week. I would rent here again.

Nice House that can accomodate a large family

  • 4 of 5

We had 8 people in this house, which was plenty big enough to give everyone their space. Having the double living spaces made it a lot easier with having kids. The main kitchen was very nice, especially the Wolf Range. We were able to cook most of our meals there. The second kitchen downstairs is nice, but we mainly just used it for the fridge and microwave as it is not stocked w/dishes, silverware, or pots. Beautiful location in Alpine Meadows and just a short drive to Tahoe City. We did a lot of outdoor activities. The deck w/BBQ and hot tub was really nice. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of bathrooms for everyone.

The only reason I am giving 4 stars is that we did have an issue in the game room, which was one of the main reasons we rented this house. The foosball and dart board have been removed. There is a pool table and bar area with a lot of seating. The TV's, stereo, and fridge in their were not working, so we ended up not using the room very much. Also the two master bedrooms do not have any window coverings and when the sun comes up at 5:30 in the morning it shines right in your eyes. I would highly recommend putting up some type of black out curtains, as people like to sleep in on vacation. Overall, it was a very nice house and we had a good stay there. The house was clean upon arrival, lots of linens, the main kitchen was well stocked.

Great property!

  • 5 of 5

When really enjoyed staying at this property. We had a large group and everyone was comfortable and happy with their stay. We cooked meal about every other night and went out to dinner the other nights, Loved having a outdoor grill and full kitchen. We were on the mountain all day Skiing it was awesome to come home and relax our muscles in the jacuzzi. The house is on a great location. Close to the lake, mountain lifts and Truckee. We would come back and stay here again for sure! No complaints at all.

Vacation in the Mountins

  • 5 of 5

We were so excited for early snow and could not wait to get to Tahoe to hit the slopes. We were going up for my Husbands Birthday celebrate with our close friends. The moment we walked in the doors we had the exact feeling of being in Tahoe we wanted for our getaway. The home was spacious and comfortable. It was nice to have the 2 kitchens with such large group.

The downstairs living room with the kitchen worked great for the kids hangout. They also had the game room right there. They could make all the noise they wanted and the adults got to enjoy the upstairs space.

The upstairs living room/dining room/kitchen space has amazing views with a roaring fire. we all were able to sit comfortable on the big couch. I really liked that the dining room and kitchen were right there so we could all be together while I did the cooking. Defiantly can't forget to mention the Hot Tub!!!

The home felt so put together, clean and well designed with all the amenities there was nothing I had to worry about. It was exactly what I was expecting for a Tahoe Vacation and an awesome way to spend my Husbands birthday with our family and friends all together.

A very cold, very beautiful house

  • 1 of 5

Summary: The house is beautiful and can accommodate large groups, but several assumed amenities of the house — including the heat — do not work or work at substandard levels, making the house a poor choice for winter rentals.

We rented the house for a snowy Thanksgiving weekend family gathering. Initially we were struck by the beauty of the house overall and the spacious accommodations. The first night we noticed a few things that were unfortunate but could be overlooked to varying extents — the internet was not working despite several times trying the reset method recommended by the owner, the upstairs refrigerator seemed to shut itself off every several hours suggesting an electrical short, but we could restart it and keep the temperature at relatively safe levels.

The second day, our family sleeping in the downstairs rooms awoke cold in rooms that were 50 degrees despite the thermostat being set to 67. Overnight the downstairs heater had stopped working. We called the owner and he told us to check the propane level, call the propane company, and then to check the pilot light without offering to do any of this himself. Nonetheless we spent a couple hours doing these things but were not able to get the heater working ourselves and let him know. After several conversations that afternoon and evening, he told us he had "sent a text message" to his heating person and could not do anything more. We put several space heaters in the downstairs, but it was still far too cold to be a comfortable space (this being half the house, including the game room), so we focused on making the bedrooms hospitable.

The third day the downstairs remained uncomfortably frigid without working heat, and after several conversations with the owner and many hours, a friend of the owner was able to get the heat turned on for a few hours before it stopped working again. Our guests again woke up with 50 degree bedrooms.

Despite the lack of working heat in sub-freezing temperatures, not to mention the more minor but still frustrating non-functional amenities including fridge and wifi, the owner has made no meaningful apology and has not offered any refund.

In summary, the house is beautiful as long as you only rent in the summer and do not need wifi or a working refrigerator.

Owner's Response: Hello I was contacted by the owners about a heat problem I sent over my maintenance person and when he arrived he said all the renters were in shorts. He addressed the heat issue and he said there was not a problem with the heat and it was in working condition. I also sent over the HVAC company and when they arrived they said the downstairs heater was in the off position. he turned it on and waited to make sure it was working and he said the heat fired up and was working without any issues. there is no problem with either of the heating systems at the house. There are 2 furnaces one for upstairs and one for the downstairs. in the winter time we do not wear shorts in the house , the house is at the 6,400 foot level and it is not normal to wear shorts in the homes at this level in the winter time. Thank you
