Lovely property with lots of perks
This condo is pretty, very clean and well-maintained. The owner has gone out of his way to ensure the comfort and enjoyment of the renter. In addition to the condo itself, renters have access to bikes, kayaks, beach chairs and towels, a yoga mat and block, lots of kitchen devices, a printer, generous supplies of paper products, sharp knives, first aid supplies, hair driers and even Q-tips!
The owner provides information sheets about the condo and the area. He responds quickly to questions. Our arrival was delayed because of the hurricane and he immediately offered to refund the days we missed.
The unit is in a group of 8 buildings. It faces the common area with views of the tennis court and the pond. Very pretty. It's located in what is considered south downtown, a lovely 20 minute walk to the Sarasota Bay park. A large Publix grocery store is just outside the complex which is located on Tamiami Blvd., a major north/south street.
The master bedroom has a king bed and an extra large shower with some kind of steam system which we did not use. We did not use the bed in the 2nd bedroom which looks like some kind of futon but much more solid and elaborate and probably much more comfortable. There is a soaking tub in the bathroom for that room.
Two cautions: First, there are stairs. The entrance to the condo is one floor up. Once inside, the bedrooms are up a set of stairs that seems a little steeper than normal. The owner has thoughtfully installed a very solid hand rail on the stairs.
The second caution has to do with the time of year that you come down. We were there in Sept., one of the hottest months of the year, and Oct., which usually cools off but this year didn't. Our daily highs were 88-90. The two little porches face south and there are no fans in the unit. We were not able to use the porches or turn off the AC until our last day, when the temperature dropped. Then we opened the porch doors and enjoyed the breezes.
We chose the hot months to see if we could survive living in Sarasota all year. We decided we were impressed with all Sarasota has to offer--the cultural events, the restaurants, the beaches--and we bought a house while we were there. The printer in the 2nd bedroom was a godsend in the process.
