Andra was very hospitable and made sure our stay was comfortable. Perfect for a family of three. We were pleased with the location and abundance of outdoor activities and places to explore.
Just lovely and peaceful
My family and I couldn't be any more pleased with our time here. Andra the owner was such a lovely lady and if we needed anything she was available (we didn't need anything because everything was already well provided). Quiet neighbors and neighborhood. Very comfortable beds. The backyard is nice and shady with a little breeze. I guess if I had to knit pick something (this is not the owners fault by any means) the shower is definitely made for someone 5'5" or shorter I feel like but there is a detachable showerhead to take care of that at least and that's being super knit picky. Also this place is super close to old Colorado City which was super cool for some good local food and shops. Again we just had a lovely time and would come back and rent this place again!!
Ok for singles or a couple, if it’s not hot
First, I want to start by saying that the hostess was extremely friendly and kind. Also, the location is fantastic. It is so close to all the major tourist spots, lots of good restaurants, and a grocery store. The kitchen is well stocked, even with toddler size plates. The fridge is a great size, and she has a mini coffee maker (4 cup, I believe).
However, we ended up leaving two nights early in our 5 night stay to go somewhere more comfortable. Our first and biggest problem were the beds. The pull out bed is very old and extremely uncomfortable (the couch part isn’t comfy either). I wouldn’t recommend that bed to anyone for any reason. The fold out cot is a super thin foam in 3 squares, which can leave the bars in between pressing against the person sleeping on it. It might be good for a child, but definitely not a normal size (or bigger) person. The bed in the bedroom wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t good at all. It definitely seemed old and was very bouncy/shaky. I could move my foot and the whole bed moved.
Our second biggest problem was the ventilation/temperature. The week we went, it was warmer than usual and this place didn’t have the means to keep up. There is a tiny window unit that struggled to cool off the living room, so it certainly didn’t reach the bedroom. This made for very warm nights. In our three nights there we tried a variety of things (which happen to be the same things our hostess suggested later when I told her we were so hot at night we weren’t sleeping), but none of them helped cool the bedroom off. For those two reasons, we had to find another place so we could get some rest.
Other issues, though they didn’t cause our departure, the furniture in the living room wasn’t comfy or cozy at all for evenings relaxing. And there was no real dining table. The one she has is super tall, with two really tall chairs (think taller than bar stools). There was no was my 2 year old, or my mom for that matter, could sit in them.
With another or bigger window A/C unit and new beds, I’d absolutely recommend this place. As it stands, I wouldn’t recommend unless it’s during a cooler time of year, you only need one bed, and you’re not picky about your mattresses.
Due to the unusually warm weather and little rain we've received this summer, I have installed a bedroom window AC. This should help to keep the temperatures a little nicer if the weather continues its trend. The unit is less than 700 square feet so the living room AC in the past has done an admirable job. As for the beds, I was surprised to find that Stephanie was disappointed as the guests just before her and after her visit specifically mentioned how comfortable the beds were. One senior guest the week before spent 8 nights in the property, never used the AC once, and told me she hadn't slept so well away from home before her stay. She mentioned that the mattress and comforter were extremely comfortable (the full bed mattress is only one year old, with a pillow top). The other guests had an older teenage son who said that the pull out sofa bed was "unusually comfortable for a sofa bed", and another guest this month also said he was surprised to find it so comfortable. The ottoman fold out bed is brand new and has approximately 5 inch dense foam base mattress. Regarding the furniture, the pictures on my site accurately portray the setting, and the bar stools are regulation height. There is a small desk and chair that can be utilized for eating, as well as the coffee table. Please see my other reviews for a more accurate portrayal of the property. I have also loaded pictures of written reviews left by some of my past guests. Hope to see you soon!
Clean, Quaint and Comfortable
This place was great! It has everything you need! The kitchen is stocked with many things most other places don't have. It was a very perfect place for us to rest in the evening after the days of hikes and sight seeing. It's close enough to the quaint little town of Old Town Colorado to walk there and enjoy the shops. Andra was a great host and made sure we had everything we need.
Good but not the best.
Had an overall decent experience here. This home was just what we needed, a place to crash and cook while visiting the area. Neighbors minded their business and Andra gave us a courtesy visit to see how our stay was going. The only downsides were no DVD player (the description says video player included but was a vhs player), there was dog hair all over the living room futon and the dustiness of the house irritated my wife's asthma. Other than that it was a good place to stay
I was sorry to see there were problems listed in the review as I did pay the guests a visit 2 days into the stay and specifically asked if there were any concerns. None were given except to say that the bathroom window wouldn't close all the way. Upon inspecting that, I discovered they had the latch in lock position which didn't allow for full closure. Once that was turned back to Open, problem was solved. The property was vacuumed and dusted before their arrival and have never had complaints before about dust (and never any concerns with pet hair as I specifically state No Pets), but I did suspect that they might have brought in a small pet as I also found some pet hair in the unit, which was not there prior to their arrival (along with some scratch marks on the sofa). Although I gave them a high review as I only had suspicions and no pictures, I would advise future hosts to perhaps pay them more regular visits during their stay. Future guests here should review my other guest comments to see how the property is actually maintained.
