Great home for the value!

We have stayed in far fancier houses but this cabin is truly epic. The main floor has an old cottage type feel with beautiful windows in the living room looking out to the forest. We sat by the fire with cocktails taking in the coziness of the setting.

There is a sled hill about 20 steps across from the house. We were not able to use it due to lack of snow but the kids spent all day on the hill playing and exploring all within our sight.

There is a very large backyard with a beautiful view of the mountains off in the distance. The deck off the dining area was very pleasant to have coffee on in the morning to take in the view.

It's a 3 min walk to the slopes! The moms carried cocktails over and enjoyed watching the kids in snowboard class while the dads snowboarded all day.

Will for sure save $$ on food as the cabin is so close to go back and eat at.

The owner is amazing! The cleaning lady amazing! Would recommend for summer mountain biking at Snow Summit or winter play.

The downstairs playroom kept 5 kids busy for 3 days while the adults enjoyed the upstairs.

Kitchen fully stocked. If your a chef bring your own knives but we had pleanty of dishes and cookware.

Very very nice stay.

Very relaxing with all the conveniences of home.

Enjoyed our stay with three

Generations of family. We were out and about during daylight

Hours then enjoyed quiet evenings in front of the fireplace. Activity was limited due to the lift being closed

But we hiked elsewhere. There's plenty to do closeby. The home is very roomy with all the comforts of home in a very

Quiet setting.

This property was great for our family!

We had a great time at Steps 2 Summit! It is a large house with space to spread out as well as a large gathering space to eat meals & play games together. The house is in a great location with easy access to the village as well as the grocery stores. We enjoyed our hike to the village via the Town Trail that starts right across the street. If there was one thing that we could have done without it was the speaker playing bird noises every 10 minutes starting at 8:30am, but we figured the sounds of woodpeckers pecking the side of the house may have been worse (only guessing that's what the speaker was for). Other than that, the kitchen was well-stocked with plates, pots, pans, etc..., there were lots of games/activities to keep everyone occupied, and we can't wait to test out all those hills in the snow! You won't be disappointed with this cabin.

Could have made it 5 generations however my 105 year old Grandmother could not make it! From 2.5 months old to 89. Such a lovely and spacious cabin with all of the amenities and the feel of home. Super super clean and cozy! We only had to bring ourselves and our eats! Played games, enjoyed the nature walks, sat by the fire....all of the wonderful things big families love to do. We will most definitely be back! <3

Great time, very comfortable home

  • 5 of 5

We had 3 generations (ages 19 to 77), 8 people total for a family get together. There was plenty of room for everybody to have their space. One of the reasons I chose this home is because there is a big dining room table with enough room for all of us to have our meals and play games together. We also enjoyed playing pool and sitting on the balcony. I highly recommend this home and would stay again.

About Mary Ellen

We have rented cabins in Big Bear for many years for our family. We had the opportunity to buy our own cabin and were so fortunate to find Steps-2-Summit. It is a perfect family cabin where we have enjoyed many special moments and happy family gatherings. We can walk to the ski area, have lots of fun sledding and playing in the snow all around the cabin during the winter months. We also enjoy many great summer activities such as nearby hiking/bicycling trails, Alpine bobsleds, water slide, boating, nearby lake activities - water skiing, wake boarding and fishing. We hope you enjoy Big Bear Lake and our cabin as much as we do!

Mary Ellen purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Mary Ellen chose Big Bear Lake

Summit Estates is a great area - you can walk to the Snow Summit ski area, and the cabin is located just a few minutes drive to Bear Mountain (or shuttle from Snow Summit), markets, Big Bear Lake, and Big Bear Village. We are very close to hiking/biking trails and many fun activities during summer months. Located on a private, cul-de-sac road, we maintain the 'mountain hideaway' location which offers a great escape for year-round fun and relaxation. It is a perfect cabin for our family and is very special to us.

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin is on a secluded, peaceful private road - it is a great escape to enjoy many year-round mountain activities or just relax and enjoy! It is a great cabin for family get-togethers, celebrations, and reunions.
