Welcome to the Jones Cottage on Kentucky Road; beds will be made upon your arrival. In 1990 the residence was "gutted' and redesigned by a Knoxville architect for both casual and fun living. Located a short walk from The Barn, Lake Susan and the Huckleberry. This residence should be on your "short list" for many reasons, including the beauty of the creek in this back yard! The large deck can host 20 for a meal or is a perfect place for a nap or to cuddle up with a good book. We will let the pictures speak for themselves.

Perfect location, Perfect home, Perfect host=Perfect Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We greatly enjoyed this charming home for our long weekend in Asheville. My in-laws arrived before we did and were concerned the water in the bathrooms weren't working. We called Bill and since he couldn't get a plumber right out that night to check the problem before he called us back he had arranged for us a room at the Inn just down the road so we would have showers that night.

As it turned out, my in-laws were just unfamiliar with how to turn the faucets on. So it was not a problem at all, but I think it's important to know you'll be staying with a host that is very responsive to your every concern.

The home was extremely clean and the decor was charming, warm and cheery! We could hear the water rushing from the creek behind the house as soon as we got out of the car and it's a beautiful sight to see in the morning with coffee in hand. The kitchen was updated with quality appliances and the washer and dryer were new as well.

If there was anything adverse about our stay, it would be the comfort of the beds, but we also practice sleep medicine for a living so I'm not sure anyone else would be as particular, although Bill was even concerned about making everything even more comfortable for future guest.

My family and I would certainly love to return in the future if there's an opening. This was a wonderful find on VRBO, the convenience to area attractions, the local flare of Black Mountain and our few days in a home away from home, will add to the memories of our life. Enjoy your stay too!

Family getaway

The house is adorable. Love all the art and the location was great and easy to find. The house is in need of some deep cleaning. It was pretty dirty! Also, I do not remember seeing on the listing that there was no air conditioning. It was October but very warm and we were all burning up even with windows open. This needs to be mentioned for future guest.

Owner's Response: Sorry your time in Montreat on the creek was not entirely pleasant.. We receive compliments on how clean it is most of the time but it does take chocolate and vanilla to compliment the other.

Loved the outdoor living spaces and the gorgeous creek in the back yard.

My family and friends had a great time here. Montreat is a beautiful, peaceful place. Playing in the creek and enjoying cool evenings on the huge deck and gazebo were the highlights of our trip. The house was comfortable. Would have rated 5 stars if it had been cleaner. Overall, a cool old house in a beautiful, relaxing area.

Owner's Response: Am late.. and somewhat intentionally on responding. We have a super housekeeper and we have huddled more than once to determine if there is a problem or if some have unreasonable expectations. When you were there the housekeeper said she had swept the entire house and moped the downstairs but not the upstairs so we have concluded that your children may have been young enough to have played on the upstairs floor. Of course the outside would have produced dirty hands and clothes but that is always the case.

Cozy charm in the perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

Jones Cottage is the perfect place to stay in Montreat if you enjoy pottery, comfortable walks around Lake Susan, and delightful places to read outside. The large gazebo on the deck provides ample space for family to gather and relax. Our kids were thrilled that the creek ran right through the back of the property! The owners were hospitable and thoughtful. They answered all our questions and made sure our stay was perfect. We will definitely stay here again!

Wonderful serene home

We loved this home. It has fantastic patios and you can hear the creek running behind The house when you open the back door. Wood burning fireplace was great too. So close to hiking trails. Very comfortable for our family of four.
