A fantastic property for extended family

We had a multi-generational group stay at Choo Choo for Christmas and had a wonderful time. The house is spacious and comfortable with everything you could need for an easy stay. The location was convenient and close to the sea front as well as shops and amenities in Dawlish.

We had a wonderful stay at this property! We arrived a little earlier than the official check-in time, and Tony was incredibly accommodating—he kindly let us park and explore the area while the property was being cleaned after the previous guests.The location is absolutely perfect—right next to the beach and just steps away from shops, restaurants, and most importantly, the train station, which made it super easy to get around. It was the ideal base for our holiday, and we really appreciated how convenient everything was.Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable stay in a prime location. Great palce to stay.

Lovely place to stay- enough room to satisfy from 12 to 93 so noone was on top of each other.. Close to town park and beach with the huge bonus of parking at the house. Only thing- it would have been nice to have an arm chair in the loung for the 93 year old as he couldnt get on the sofa Already looking to book next year..

Excellent for large family

We so enjoyed our stay at ChooChoo Mansion! We needed a large place to house our family while we came from the US to a family wedding. This house had plenty of room for our 10 adults to sleep and hang out comfortably and the location couldn't be better. Be sure to check out the black swans, the beach and the pub down the street if you visit!

Dreamy escape

A large group of us stayed at Choo Choo Mansions for a long weekend. We absolutely loved the attention to detail and care taken in furnishing and decorating the property. Tony was a wonderful host and was very responsive. The kitchen is well stocked and can conveniently support cooking for large families. The house is in a great location: near the beach and train station.

Great location to park car up and use the train which is just over road. You do not hear the trains. House is spacious ,comfortable with great decor. The hosts are easy and quick to correspond with.

what a quirky lovely house

Lovely house in a great location, everything you need on your doorstep. Took the kids and grand children away for a cheeky little week, couldn't have been better, if your taking children with you a top tip is Crealy adventure park and Woodlands adventure park were brilliant but pre-book your tickets for a discount, The train station is on your doorstep to explore the near by towns, again if there is 9 or more you can book a group ticket. Definitely book again,

Fab getaway

Wow Wow Wow We stayed at Choo Choo for a family getaway in July and loved it. The children loved the shepherds hut so much we hardly saw them. The house was a dream with spacious quirky rooms and a fun kids bedroom. Everything was a minute away, the town centre, beach, pubs and restaurants. As the train station was next to us so we jumped on the train to explore the local area. Sitting in thee garden at night with a glass of wine with the family was a daily ritual. Thanks guys for the wine and great reception, we will be back again.

Perfect location and a delightful house

Delightful and quirky in the best possible way. There's an old fuel pump in the living room, for goodness sake. It should be overwhelming, but the overall character of the place makes it all work very well. Large bedrooms with individual sitting areas make it easy for large groups to spread out without being on top of one another constantly. Icing on the cake is the perfect location in Dawlish - super-close proximity to main street shops and the train station means there's no need for a car to get supplies or see the sights along the coast. Special shout out to Tony for being amazingly responsive to miscellaneous questions that came up from us Dawlish newbies. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to come back soon!

Quirky house in a great location

Pros - Most of the rooms are a good size for a large group, well equipped kitchen and it’s in a great location. Cons - there isn’t a garden - more of a courtyard that didn’t have enough chairs for everyone . The dining room table was only big enough for 8 to sit. The dishwasher is in an outdoor shed - but there’s a washing machine in the kitchen!? Would make sense to swap them!? There’s a lot of uneven floors and stairs which may be a problem for older people.

Wonderful house in such a perfect location!

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful property, the house is extremely spacious and has plenty of room for everyone to have their own space. Each room is very well decorated and furnished, and the train memorabilia throughout the house gives it so much character. Tony is an amazing host- very helpful, friendly and responsive, quickly answering any questions. The location of the house is perfect being in the heart of Dawlish, it was so nice being able to leave the car on the driveway and just walk round the corner to the shops, arcade, beach etc. The train station is practically on the doorstep if wanting to leave the car behind and visit other towns by train. We enjoyed having a stroll along the water in Dawlish looking at the black swans, and also a visit to Gays Creamery for some lovely pasties, cakes and ice cream! I would 100% recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay in the area, it is perfect for friends and families especially if there’s quite a few people, the photos don't do the house justice as we were amazed at the space when we arrived. It's clear that so much time, thought and effort has been put in to the property, which makes it more special and personal. We will definitely be returning, and can't wait for our next visit.Thanks so much for a lovely stay!

Fantastic location

We stayed here as a family with the ages ranging from 22 to 74 for my 50th Birthday. Communication with Tony was exceptional and he responded quickly to any queries we had. We had booked a 5-night stay from Mon-Fri, but Tony very kindly offered us the house for 7 nights at no extra charge 🙂. The scones/Prosecco and milk were greatly appreciated … thank you! The location of the house is perfect. There are some shops/pubs within walking distance, but if you wanted to go further afield, the train station is right on your door step. although you are not disturbed by the noise. We didn’t move our cars all week and used the train to visit Exeter, Paignton, Torquay and Dawlish Warren. The house has everything you need, making it home from home. The beds are comfortable and I thought with it being an old house that it would be cold, but it was quite the opposite. We would definitely return if visiting the area again and would 100% recommend it.

Lovely Stay

We had a lovely time away with friends & our kids. Tony was great from start to finish even if there was a mishap on our behalf! Only put less on the accuracy as the little hut (presumably for kids) is no longer there which we didn’t know until we got there & couldnt find it. Also the beach view in the top room is only just. Apart from that, really nice location, huge house with great decoration. Bedrooms were amazing & bathroom really nice too. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

A Fun Transport Experience!

As a family we were four different households meeting together and had a great holiday. Quirky property with many interesting transport items on display (but clearly not intended to be playthings for children). Its position at the heart of all that is going on in Dawlish is ideal. Beach and station are just a minute away. Four of the bedrooms were spacious and very comfortably furnished, ideal for couples. We hadn't understood from the website description that the sixth bedroom was a mezzanine of the fifth accessed by a steep ladder staircase making it unsafe for our youngest grandchild. As a result our planned bedroom allocation had to be altered. The welcome from Tony was excellent. The Cream Teas, Prosecco, and Red wine were a lovely touch and much enjoyed. The flexibility of our time of leaving was most appreciated and generous. Great opportunity to explore the area.

A wonderful stay

The property exceeded our expectations. The photos are very good but can't beat the real thing! The house is spacious, well decorated and furnished, with some unusual and quirky pieces. We loved it. Fantastic location, we parked on the drive on arrival and didn't get in the car again for 3 days. Age range of our party was 14 - 83 years and everyone felt comfortable here. Communication with the property manager was easy, prompt and friendly. Definitely a property we would stay in again.

Fun with family and friends

This house had enough facilities to cater for all of our needs. There were so many fascinating ornaments around the house but they sometimes hindered our moment. It would be nice if the small room outside the house was accessible to children to explore with. They were excited to go inside, but unfortunately unable to. The property has a generous supply of heating.

Lovely quirky house .

Plenty of space for a large group.The beds were really comfy and.location is perfect with the train station next door.Our only issue was.parking as we were a family coming from different parts of the country and there's only parking for 3 small cars.We did manage to park at the train station opposite at a cost of £58 for the week. Overall anyone visiting won't be disappointed.Also the cream teas in the fridge were a nice touch 😁

Wonderful family holiday in a stylish house

A lovely, quirky house with plenty of room and great facilities for a large/extended family that caters for all age ranges. Facilities were great and as stated. We were able to park three cars on the drive. Location was central and brilliant for catching the train along the south coast. We really enjoyed the cream tea and Prosecco that was in the fridge on arrival. Communication with the host was excellent. We would definitely recommend this property and would stay again.

Wonderful experience

Absolutely fantastic welcome. We were greeted to a surprise of wine bottles upon arriving and also the next day while we were out sight seeing. We met with Tony who made contact with me to ensure a smooth check in and address little queries we had. Such a nice chap to meet with. Family had a great time. Property is absolutely wonderful and each room has its own quirkiness about it. Hope to return in the future as a great base to explore nearby sights.
