Journey's End is located mid island between Espiranza and Isabel II with a short drive to pristine beaches.
Vieques is the Caribbean as it was 50/60 years ago with crystal clear waters, numerous sandy beaches where often you are the only people there. Definitely the place to get away from it all. Vieques is unique in that 70% of the island is in the U. S. Fish and Wild Life Preserve. The island is 22 miles long by 4 miles wide with a population of 10,000.

A real stunner!
2 words: JUST GO!
The entire process was simple form beginning to end. Bob (owner) and Karen (property mgr) answered every question and ensured a perfect, relaxing getaway in an excellently appointed, very spacious island villa. You'll want for nothing during your stay. We prepared meals for 11 with ease both in the kitchen and outdoor patio area. The kids loved the pool while the adults sipped beverages and took in the beautiful view of the Atlantic and the main land. Huge, air conditioned bedrooms, outdoor showers, island breeze, what more could you ask for!
Plenty of beach chairs on site which was a nice addition while enjoying the most private. scenic beaches I've ever seen. Truly an untouched, natural island. Locals are friendly and helpful if you have questions. The two towns, Isabel and Esperanza are a very short drive from the property and worth spending time in to really get a feel for the island's culture.
I could go on and on about this property and island but you just need to experience it for yourself, you won't regret it.

Perfect family vacation!
Journeys End was more then I ever expected.
One worries when you rent a place online, but this home was all its described to be and more.
The pictures are 100% true! The home was very clean and equipped with everything you will need.
The outdoor space is spacious and comfortable.
You will not be disappointed when renting this home.
I would recommend this home 100%.
Always a pleasure
This is our second visit to Vieques and our second stay at Journeys End. We always have a large group and this year we rented 4 homes with a total of about 35 people. This home allows the whole group to have dinner and visit either upstairs or in the outside area next to the pool. We have the best gatherings here at this home. The drive to the beaches is very easy...both the caribbean beaches or the Atlantic side of the island. All the amenities are fantastic and all the bedrooms are spacious and air conditioned. The owners have added upgrades to the kitchen since our last visit and also an outside bath and shower next to the pool.
Highly recommend this home and have had wonderful memories here!!
My wife and I are just back from another trip to Vieques. This trip, we chose Journey's End for our rental. Let me tell you, it was absolutely perfect. The house has everything one could need for a wonderful vacation. We particularly enjoyed the pool area and the upstairs balcony. The house has DirectTV, but who needs or wants TV when you have the Atlantic ocean as your daily view. The kitchen is well-equipped to fix meals at the house and has everything the gourmet cook could need. Centrally located, easy drive to Isabel or Esperanza and the beaches. I have to tell you about the beaches...they are superb! We hit our favorites again (Blue, Red, Secret and Silver) and found a new beach that is opened on the west side--Playa Grande. Our choice for best beach, hands down, is Secret Beach, also known as Playa Prieta. Can't go wrong with any of the beaches!
So, if you are looking for a great vacation, I highly suggest that you check out Journey's End. The owners are great people and have a great house they have so graciously decided to share with the rest of us! Thank you Bob and Pebby.

Comfortable and Elegant? Yes! Quiet...not so much
We have been to Vieques before and stayed in what was described as a quiet retreat on a hillside and it truly was...high up on a hill and tranquil, with just the sound of the trees blowing in the breeze, frogs and geckos, and the occasional dogs barking in the night. That is what we were expecting from this "quiet" location as well. Don't get us wrong; the house was thoroughly enjoyable; beautifully landscaped, spacious, clean and thoughtfully decorated. We had nothing but positive experiences with the house itself. and we love Vieques and plan to keep coming back. We were just completely taken aback by the noise level. We wanted to stay in this house because of the outdoor space, which is beautiful, but the noise level made it unpleasant. The house does indeed sit atop a hill and with a beautifully landscaped yard, but it is far from quiet. We had to change our noise expectations from "Quiet Tropical Retreat" to "Noisy, Suburban Metro". The noise level was louder than our suburban DC location, and I am not even referring to the roosters, barking dogs and frogs, because we found those noises unobtrusive. The house sits very close to a major road and in back of a busy car rental business. The noise from the street is very noticeable including loud trucks, cars, and motorcycles...all playing deafening music that one night shook the house, and awoke us both, at 3:00 a.m. The car rental staff plays loud music from 7 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. although they were nice enough to lower it for a couple of days. The nearest neighbor is a few feet away and his conversations on the cell phone were clearly audible. The last straw was the neighbors leaf blower starting early on a Saturday morning. Not even my neighbors in DC start their leaf blowers that early. Despite all that, we still had a great time and would love to stay at a house like this again...if it were just a few hundred yards further from the street.
In seven years and hundreds of tenants, this is the first time that there has ever been a complaint about noise. We wish that this tenant had contacted us when they experienced this problem rather than wait a month to notify us. All we would have to do is make two phone calls and the majority of their problem would be gone.
I also need to correct a few erronious statements.
The house sits on 1 acre of land and is 500'+ from 201 which is a narrow 2 lane road.
The house is not behind Maritza's car rental which is locate on 201.
The neighbors house is 100' away and also sits on 3/4 acre of land. It is unfortunate that their gardner decide to do clean up so early.
Again, if we knew that there was a problem, we could have corrected it right away.
Journeys End & Journeys Beginnings...
Dear Bob: We have just returned from Vieques and wanted to thank you so much for the use of your beautiful home. It was perfect in every way and we enjoyed ourselves so much. There was not one item overlooked in the house and it truly contained everything one could possible need or use. We just loved it and felt so spoiled sitting outside watching the beautiful view or lazing by the pool...We had a hard time leaving it to do site seeing and looked so forward to returning back home at the end of our day. I would like to add that Karen was wonderful. A water problem developed where the entire Island was shut down for four days and Karen was right on top of the situation, keeping us totally informed and handling the installation of a hose from the house next store so that we would be equipped with water...yes it was a little tough going but it did not damper our vacation in any way. By the way, who ever did the decor is truly an artist, every room was beautiful. We so plan on returning next year so that we may enjoy it again and most certainly will recommend Journeys End to everyone we know! Thank you so much for the perfect vacation. Warm Regards, Dawn and The Maiden Family
Fortunately on Vieques, water is usually not a problem as Vieques is one of the few Caribbean Island with city water. Journey's End has a 10,000 gallon water cistern available to it for when repairs need to be made to the city water system. In 6 years, this is the first time that we have had to use the cistern.
Our guest were great during this problem time and we cannot wait to have them back.
