This is our second time staying here. We love the short walk to the beach. The size of the house is roomy enough so that the three generations that stayed had plenty of room to spread out. The only things I would mention is that the outdoor grill needs to have its inside pieces replaced because they are rusting out and the TV remote in the downstairs bedroom turned the TV on but we couldn’t get the channels to change. I would definitely stay there again.

I'm glad to hear you would stay again and the house was large enough for your three generations.
The TV is a new Samsung 65 inch television. To get the spectrum channels, you need to pick the Spectrum app on the homepage. Alternatively, there are lots of apps, like YouTube and others, that you could watch.
I'll check the rusting on the grill burners, under the grill grate. I know the grill grate is fine and the flame pattern is normal.
Thank you for your review.
We loved the easy walk to a private bay beach. The cottage was as described and perfect for a family vacation. The only downside was certain areas were not as clean as I would expect - a quick vacuuming and some laundry took care of it. Would book again!

Thank you for your review. I’m glad the house was perfect for your vacation. I will contact you to find out what area the cleaners did not clean well and I’ll make sure they clean that area.
This is the second time we've stayed here. It's so close to the super quiet, clean, beautiful beach! There is plenty of room for 4 adults and our 1 child. The screened in porch is perfect for big evening meals.

Thanks for your return stay and your review. We look forward to welcoming you back again.
This is our 2nd year staying at this wonderful home. We just rebooked for our 3rd. We very much enjoy the location to the ocean, the size of the home is perfect for my family, and the owners are very easy to get ahold of if need be.
Thank you for a great stay again this year!!!

Andrea,
Thank you thank you for your review. I’m glad that you had a great stay. We look forward to having you stay at our house again.
Home was perfect for our group of four adults and two children over a two week period. It’s less than a five minute walk to the bay and just down the road from a hiking trail to Wiley. Private beach access with stairway just down from Cole. Kitchen was fairly well equipped and a gas grill was available on the deck. Listing and most remarks seemed pretty accurate. Only needed to communicate with the owner on one occasion and he responded immediately and was easy to work with. A great cottage on the bay. I’d definitely rent again.

I'm glad you found the house perfect for your group. We look forward to you returning.
Great location with a very short walk to a private, quiet beach with lots of beach available even at high tide. House on a quiet dirt road.
The owner is very reliable and responsive.

Thank you for your kind words. We love Target View Beach as well. We look forward to your return.
We had two small problems (grill was not usable and tv remote did not work), but otherwise this property was very nice, spacious, with good, quiet location. About a block from the beach. Many nice restaurants in the general area.

Thanks for your feedback. We will check on the remote and Weber gas grill and ensure that they are working properly.
Large, clean, spacious house, one block from beach. We only had 2 small problems, the living room TV remote did not work, and the grill was rusted and unusable. We all enjoyed our stay.

Sandra,
Thank you for your review. We have fixed the remote and the Weber gas grill.
We had a wonderful time at this property. The house is airy and comfortable and stocked with every appliance/dish/pan you could want. We loved having the screened-in porch as an option for when we wanted to sit “outdoors” without the hot sun. The house is just a few minutes’ walk to a beautiful bay beach and only a slightly longer walk to the pond at Wiley Park - great to have both options without needing to get in the car. We hope to be back.

Thank you for your review. I’m glad that you had a wonderful stay. I look forward to having you stay with us again.
Walking distance to our favorites; bayside beach and Wiley park. Nice usable kitchen. We bought local fish and grilled/cooked at home every night (check out Mac's market). Good internet. Comfortable layout for my in-laws who made use of a ground level room with a bathroom close by. It was great for our family with diverse ages; 8-82.

I'm so glad that you found the house to be a comfortable layout. I agree that the ground level room with a bathroom close by is ideal for seniors.
The house had everything we needed. Furniture was comfortable and outside area pleasant. Very short walk to bay beach! The only downside was that one of the bedrooms upstairs was open to the living room and that was problematic for sleeping and privacy for the couple who slept there…did not notice that in the description. Didn’t ruin our fun time though! Family reunion a success!

Some good some not.
The house did not look like it does in the photo. The front door and siding is dirty and there are a lot more trees than expected, which created more bugs. The inside was nice, the furniture is kind of old and worn and not very comfortable. Kitchen was well stocked. Screened in porch was nice. Twin beds were extremely uncomfortable and noisy. Central Air was nice. Beach chairs in basement were nice to have but old. Proximity to the beach was good, you have to walk down the street, through a path then down a bunch of steep steps so not good for people who have ambulation issues but the public beach on Cole Road was perfect. It was a good week with family. Thank you .

Surprise
We were notified three days before arrival to bring our own bedding, towels and table linens. Each bed had a thin comforter- fortunately we brought blankets with us.
What was advertised as a third upstairs bedroom had no door and was open to living room space below. The foldout couch was in that room and there was no way anyone could use it because it was two feet from the bed.
The kitchen had drawers filled with all kinds of utensils and pots and pans were piled haphazardly into a cupboard.
There were at least four vacuum cleaners- but when I tried to clean up. several were not working.
Having said all that I must add that the location is fabulous! We wAlked to the beach, the pond and the playground with a two and a half year old- easily.

Eileen,
Thank you for your review. As you know, there is a queen bed in the room that you described as having a fold out couch. We use the couch as a couch only and don’t advertise that as extra space.
Also, the need for your own bedding, towels and table linens was provided when you booked the week. Please reference the rental agreement for that and other details of the house.
We purchased a new vacuum last year. We find that the extra vacuums we have do indeed work. We will dispose of the extra vacuums that do work, but are not new.
Beautiful house, in great location.
Host accommodated some of our requests, but others still remained unresolved.
Host mailed us new cookware, because we could not use rusted pans ( took few days though)
One bedroom with queen bed on second floor does not have a door. I would suggest that a partition would be useful for privacy.
Grill is not working, even though we were asked to fill the tank and we did.
Screened porch was not usable, due to thick layer of pollen everywhere.
Air conditioning is nice to have, but air ducts were scary looking, probably not cleaned for a while.
Washer and dryer in the basement may have been functional, but the basement had moldy odor, and we did not go down there.
Additionally, we were quite alarmed to find a camera indoors which pointed at the dining room and kitchen area. This is not only disturbing, but upon further research most likely illegal. Not sure if it was turned on. We covered it up.

The house is extremely clean.
In the early months there is yellow dust from the pine trees. That is not the case later in Summer.
We have a workable Weber grill.
There is a half wall in the upstairs second queen bedroom.
The camera is only for off season, it is in the dining room to view all entry doors and is unplugged and not operable.
I believe what you saw was a screen in one of the floor duct vents to collect objects from falling through the ductwork. not debris.

It's not a 4.7
I'll start with the positive things. It was a short walk to the bay side beach, the new living room furniture was very comfortable, the refrigerator was brand new and the outside shower was the best I've seen. However, it was advertised as a 4 bedroom house, one 'bedroom' was actually a bed in the loft, no door for privacy. The gas grill was not functioning after we got a new propane tank to replace the empty one. The inside was all rusted out. There were dirty tissues under one of the beds, we ended up washing most of the cutlery and dishware because they had food residue on them.
I've been renting houses on the Cape for a number of years, this place will be memorable. There were a number of things that did not really affect our stay, but I was surprised to see and I feel are worth mentioning. The white trim on the house was peeling. The screen door on the side entrance was rusted out and patched with pieces of aluminum. We found someone (the previous renters?) had cranked up the hot water heater so the water was scalding, we turned it down.
Bottom Line, I was not happy and will not be returning here.

Steve,
Thank you for your review. We have cleaned the grill and it works fine. We have excellent cleaners and I let them know about the area that they missed. Unfortunately, we can’t control how the previous renters adjust settings during their stay. We are planning on installing AZEK Trim on the home exterior.

Great Time!!
Only issue cutlery was not clean, and someone had put recycles in plastic bag so the trash company did not take them.
Minor problems!!
We had a wonderful time. The house was fantastic. Home owner was quick to get back to us with any questions we had. We already plan on staying next year!! Thank you for sharing your home with us.

I’m glad that you had a wonderful time. We look forward to you staying next year.
The house is very comfortable. It sits on a wooded, quiet, peaceful (all things I was looking for!) piece of property, three houses from a wonderful private beach on the Bay. The kitchen is completely equipped. The house was immaculate when we arrived. We loved the screened porch! Having a bedroom and bath on the first floor is great for folks who have trouble with stairs. One caveat: the third bedroom upstairs is open to the living room and doesn't have a door, but is fine for kids who go to bed at the same time as the adults. Unlike the description, both washer and dryer are free! Yay! The house is very light and bright. There are blinds on all the windows, but you will still wake up early. Great for morning people. Eastham is convenient to lots of restaurants and sights you will want to see. We saw a humpback whale and her baby right next to the boat we took out of Provincetown. The owner was quick to respond to questions I had before we arrived and while we were there. I would certainly recommend this property! (But, please, don't rent it at the same time I want it next year! :) :) )

Thanks for staying at our house and recommending it to others.
We enjoyed our stay very much. The beach access was very convenient and the house was adequately stocked. The house condition was average and could certainly use updating. When we arrived there was a strong odor of mustiness that took a few days to dehumidify. Furnishings are simple but adequate. Although not updated, it was clean. If the beach access wasn't as convenient as it was, I would rate the property 3 stars.
Comfortable access to CC Bay and spectacular tidal variations. Quick trip to ocean and marshes, P-town and Chatham, restaurants and lobster shacks, biking and fishing.

Second time at this location, very nice people and helpful. Post office lost the entrance key, but the owner quickly resolved the problem. House is well maintained and short walk to beach.

About the host
Hosted by Greg Boughey
My wife, Gwyn, has been vacationing in Eastham every year since she was a kid. As a child she loved swimming in Cape Cod Bay, walking the tide flats, and exploring the area. When we had kids we returned to Eastham every year and rented several vacation houses. In 1999 we built our vacation house that incorporates all the things we liked about those rental houses and added those things we wish they had. As past renters of vacation houses we wanted our house to be open, bright, airy and have all the amenities and comforts we know you expect in a vacation house. The house is on a private street so eventhough you are a short walk to Cape Cod Bay you also have a large, quiet yard - the way the Cape used to be. The public Cole Road Beach is just up the beach from your private beach. Wiley Park is a short walk from the house. The park has a sandy beach on Great Pond, one of the many fresh water ponds in the area. The park also has picnic facilities and a playground. Eastham is the headquarters for the Cape Cod Seashore National Park, home to two of the best ocean beaches in America – Coastguard Beach and Nauset Beach. Besides beach activities you may want to go biking on the Cape Cod Rail Trail, go fishing from your private beach or charter a boat, go shopping, or just explore the quaint Cape Cod towns. Nearby are the towns of Hyannis and Provincetown - where there is much to see and do. You may want to take a boat excursion to one of the outer islands of Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard or perhaps go whale watching. Whatever your plans we have made every effort to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Greg and Gwyn, Eastham, MA
Why they chose this property
We chose this location because it has its own private bay beach and is centrally located for Cape activities - bay, ocean, and pond beaches; fishing; riding bikes; jogging; walking; or exploring nearby towns.
What makes this property unique
Walking distance to bay beaches and fresh water pond beaches are quite unique. It is also unique to find a new, clean, bright, and airy house so close to the beach. This is not a musty cottage, but a house where you will feel very comfortable.
