Une promenade rapide, un demi-mile, jusqu'aux chutes elles-mêmes. Wifi gratuit. Idéalement situé près d'un supermarché et des transports en commun. Niagara Falls Retreat est la moitié d'un duplex. Le Great Gorge Guesthouse est la maison d'hôtes à côté. Il est situé dans le quartier historique de Park Place, en face de l'aquarium de Niagara Falls. La maison est un duplex pour 2 familles et vous séjournerez d'un côté. Nous sommes dans une zone urbaine en cours de revitalisation et à 800 mètres des chutes du Niagara. La maison a été construite en 1910 - elle n'est pas neuve et brillante - elle a de vieux caprices.

À Falls Retreat, vous pouvez:

* Détendez-vous dans le grand espace commun.

* Préparez vos propres repas dans la cuisine bien équipée.

* Accès WI-FI gratuit partout dans la maison.

La maison a trois chambres et deux salles de bain. Le grand salon et salle à manger et la cuisine sont au premier étage. Il est entièrement meublé pour que vous puissiez vous faire comme chez vous. La cuisine est équipée de tous les articles dont vous avez besoin pour préparer vos propres repas si vous le souhaitez. Si vous n'êtes pas amateur de cuisine, il y a des restaurants à un pâté de maisons de Third Street et plus près des chutes.

Le deuxième étage comprend 3 chambres et 1 salle de bain. Le troisième étage a une autre salle de bain complète. Si les étapes sont difficiles pour vous, ce n'est peut-être pas la maison pour vous.

Il y a actuellement un parking gratuit disponible de l'autre côté de la rue. Si ce n'est pas disponible, il y a un parking gratuit sur la 4ème rue au coin de la rue.

It was a good place to stay. The beds were really comfortable. We never ran out of hot water. The temperature was comfortable. The hosts were very efficient to bring us more bowls and an instapot to make our dinners!

Historic charm

Clean, comfortable, spacious, fully equipped home with lots of historic charm. Location was fantatic to walk and see nightly fireworks at the falls. The Ontario side of the falls has better views but we found it to be significantly more crowded. It's totally worth getting passports, though, if you are not Canadian. Go visit Niagara Falls, Ontario!

Very friendly host. The house is really in minutes to aquarium and falls. This is old house, not fancy but good to stay after long walk and cook dinner. In the kitchen, where you can find all the dishes and even different spices and sugar). Thanks

Cute house in great US Niagara Falls Location

This home was clean and well equipped for our stay. We walked to the falls and trolly stops nearby. With the house being historic, the electrical is a little limited (expected). The US side of Niagara has some great local restaurants but entire blocks and downtown strip could use rehab and development.

The pros: Great location. Big space for families. The house was clean. Carroll the host was very quick with communication. Things you should know: I had to plunge the toilet with very little toilet paper use, the bathroom sink drained very slowly (slow enough to leave a ring of soap), the house is stocked with cooking pans but bring your own ziplocks, etc. I could not find a pen or paper (one pencil and two crayons found). The host will provide one towel and wash cloth per week. Neighborhood looks dilapidated but no safety concerns.

Hello We had short trip mid April 24’ (4days) to the Falls me and my friends from Europe, Pros Location location location is everything, place is unbelievable located in the middle of everything, Up to 8-9 min walk to rainbow bridge, us side falls, aquarium, park , restaurants , We couldn’t get better place for our trip than Carroll house, Now about the host Carroll great host , very responsive and patient that’s all what You need from the host If You expect fireworks from Your rental place ( jacuzzi, marbles, golden toilets ect ) don’t rent this place But if all You need is spacious, extremely clean, cozy , warm place to stay , 3 Bd , 2 bth , large living space ? Carroll place is this place Cons Couldn’t find one Jake , Teresa , Pete

Decent house close to Niagara Falls

The only positive I found in this property was it's closeness yo Niagara Falls. Everything else left a lot to be desired. Despite charging a cleaning fee, the entrance to the house had a non-Halloween cobweb. We were expected to remove the bedsheets and pillow covers because of "house rules". None of the bathrooms had any hot water causing us to take a shower in what can best be described as lukewarm water. The thermostat in the house was capped at 72 degrees and I had to reach out to the owner to increase the temperature beyond that! To be clear, none of these issues by themselves were deal breaker for us however all of them combined caused this property to fall below expectations!

We are sorry we did not meet your expectations and that there was a cobweb in the entrance. Sometimes the spiders create a new spider web after we clean and before the next guests arrive. There is plenty of hot water in the house - if you were having a problem with that you should have let us know so we could remedy the situation. Of course, if everyone takes 20 min showers and all in a row, the hot water tank will run out and need to refill. I know you were dismayed by having to follow the house rules which you agreed to upon booking but seem to not have read. We allowed you to checkout later than checkout time so that you could do a few things like take out your trash and strip your beds. We do not ask guests to do a lot. We do limit the range that people can adjust the thermostat but when you asked if we could adjust it, we did it immediately for you. I highly suggest that in the future you fully read listings prior to booking so that expectations are in alignment with what the host has to offer.

Questionable Neighborhood

Carroll was great to work with. The property was very clean and was true to the description. It is clearly a very old home. I know that some people like homes with a lot of history, but I have to say that I really didn't like the fact that the VERY creaky stairs woke up my kids as I climbed them. The air conditioning vents are in peculiar places so the air didn't move around well and it was actually blowing directly on the heads of my daughters as they slept because the vent is located right along the pillows of the low-framed bed, which caused a nose bleed. The water pressure was good and the water was hot, but the kitchen appliances, pots, pans and utensils are clearly old and very used. I do feel that the unit was a bit overpriced for what it is, but it served its purpose. My biggest concern was the neighborhood. We had to walk around at night due to our desire to go see the fireworks and I was quite nervous. During the daytime hours I had seen some suspicious-looking people walking around. There are many abandoned homes and many more that are clearly vacant, for sale and in disrepair. While we walked home we even passed one house that had boards of the windows, but the front door was wide open and there wasn't any light inside. THAT made me nervous! There are a few well-kept homes in the neighborhood, but there are equally as many vacant or run down properties. All in all we enjoyed our visit to Niagara Falls and this property met our needs, but if we ever return I think I would prefer to stay in a hotel.

Thank you for your comments as I think they will help others in the future. We try to be very clear in our description about the City of Niagara Falls as a whole. It is a rust belt city that has lost half its population and for that reason, can look a bit scary with empty homes. Andre and I, and others like us, have been working hard to bring back some of the downtown area and restore the old homes. Most of the homes in the downtown area are 100+ years old. Old homes are not for everyone and they have their quirks. I was surprised about your kitchen comments as the appliances are all fairly new and we just put in a brand new set of pots and pans at the beginning of the season. There are of course some older ones there as well. I will investigate more thoroughly to make sure all are serviceable. Regarding the price, we provide three bedrooms and two bathrooms, living room and kitchen for the same price or only slightly more than a single hotel room downtown and walking distance to the Falls. For most, this is a great deal for a family of 7.

Just As Described

It was very close to the falls and Canada border crossing which was super convenient. The couch was comfy and bed was sufficient. The decor is super retro/old which isn't my vibe at all. It was a big depressing. The shower head in the 2nd floor bathroom was super low. I'm 6' and it hit me at mouth level. The 3rd floor's was better, but I had to be careful so I didn't hit the ceiling since it was slanted. Most of this is more personal taste. Overall, it worked for my friends and I so I'm giving it 5 stars.

Lots of Space Close to the Falls

The duplex was what was advertised. It is very old but well maintained and clean. Lots of stairs. There is no laundry or dishwasher on site. It was a short walk to the Falls. I was glad we arrived during day light to figure out the free parking around the block. Over all it was a nice place for our family to spread out. Thanks.

First Time in Niagara Falls

Found online. Easy 10-15 minute walk to the Falls. Quick drive to Whirlpool and Devils Hole SP to hike the gorge trails. Honestly, at first glance we weren’t sure of neighborhood and the home but as with most things, can’t judge a book by its cover. Comfortable inside, cool despite the uncharacteristic heat advisory in effect, and kitchen was adequately stocked. Beds reasonably comfortable. Floors quaintly squeaky due to the age of the home. Would stay again if we take another trip to the Falls.

Convenient location!

This place is just across from the aquarium as described. It is so close to the state park and main falls area. Descriptions are accurate so we were not expecting glitz and glam, just convenience and everything we needed! We had a great stay.

Niagara historic home

Location could not be better, easy access to all the falls/parks. Walk 1/2 block and view nightly fireworks. Comfortable, but beware the stairs are very steep, would not recommend for non-agile people. My only complaint would be the linens had a strong fragrance that irritated my nose/sinuses. Bath towels and flatware in the kitchen could be updated, but everything you need is provided.

Carroll spent most of her career in Human Resources but gave it all up (darn) to open a hostel in Niagara Falls- leaving the wonderful California weather behind but gaining a wonderful husband. Andre is from Germany and we found each other here! We have since expanded from the hostel and added a couple vacation rentals to our endeavors. We think they are a great alternative to a sterile hotel - more like home away from home.
