A superb and spacious 3 bed cottage designed for families and Friends

3 bedrooms, with 3 fabulous en suite shower rooms...feel the 5 star hotel quality!
Delightful gardens, wood burner and great place to discover Normandy from.

The interior decoration has been carried out with love and a touch of theatre by the owner Mr Daniel Parker, a BAFTA award winning and oscar nominated make-up artist for the film industry. The result are a delightful cottage full of personality and wonderful attention to detail.

A solid oak front door opens into a large open plan room with a rare example of a perfectly preserved ancient Norman inglenook fireplace as centre piece. Complete with fireside snug, farmhouse style dining table and chairs and a fully equipped thoroughly modern kitchen cleverly harmonised with the original architectural elements of the building, this room truly feels like the heart of the home and combines the living and dining area with fully equipped kitchen (dishwasher, hob & microwave oven), TV/DVD.

The second ground floor room provides a flexible bedroom space depending on your group requirements, and can be configured as a double or twin en suite bedroom with a very high quality zip together bed base and mattresses. The room has a charming rustic atmosphere, with exposed stonework and timbers. The doors to this room have been widened for wheelchair access if necessary.

A wooden staircase from the main living area takes you to a small galleried landing leading to two further bedrooms.

The “Blue Bedroom “ is the largest upstairs room with a double bed and luxurious en suite shower room.

The “Green Bedroom” has a double bed and luxurious en suite shower room.

The peaceful atmosphere of the bedrooms is accentuated by high ceilings with exposed beams, a combination of natural stone and Farrow & Ball painted walls, the play of light from large south facing dormer windows, with views towards ornamental cherry trees and a traditional apple orchard in the distance.

Outside and downstairs at the rear of the cottage there is a sun terrace with picnic table and BBQ area and a beautiful well-maintained flower garden and lawn area

The cottage is equipped with Wi-Fi and has thermostatic heaters throughout, along with good quality insulation and windows for all year round letting.

There is plenty of parking space outside and a shared laundry facility in a separate outbuilding adjoining the cottage.

Fantastic property in a great location. A quintessential French cottage. Plenty of room for 3 adults and two kids. Every room had an en-suite. Beds were comfortable and the accommodation was very clean. Outside space was peaceful and beautifully maintained. Ample parking. Close to the coast line and close to lots of WW2 historical locations. The host Daniel was extremely knowledgeable on the local and wider area and could not have been more welcoming and willing to make my family’s stay the best it could be.

Nie wieder!

Das Haus machte von außen einen schönen Eindruck und entsprach den Fotos. Auch die Willkommensgeschenke waren sehr nett. Allerdings hat das Haus einen extrem modrigen Geruch und eine sehr hohe Luftfeuchtigkeit. Alles im Haus ist klamm. Der eingebaute Lüfter zeugt davon, dass dem Vermieter das Problem bekannt ist, nur leider schafft der Lüfter keine Abhilfe.In der Dusche (oben) befindet sich schwarzer Schimmel. Es war aufgrund des Geruchs unmöglich, in der unteren Etage zu schlafen. Die Küche war nicht sauber, Krümel im Ofen und eine verklebte Abzugshaube. Die Nachbarin beschwerte sich über spielende Kinder im (ebenfalls ungepflegten) Garten, obwohl das Haus als kinderfreundlich angepriesen wurde. Aufgrund der Renovierung des Hauses nebenan wurde ohne Ankündigung das Wasser abgestellt. Wir haben das Haus vorzeitig verlassen, ein weiterer Aufenthalt hätte unsere Gesundheit gefährdet. Der Vermieter reagierte über einen Mittelsmann nur einmalig auf unsere Beschwerde, es gab keinerlei Bemühungen, sich um die Probleme zu kümmern. Danach herrschte Schweigen. Wir werden hier nie wieder buchen und können nur dringend davon abraten, auf die schönen Fotos hereinzufallen.

das Haus ist nicht feucht, es ist ein Steinhaus auf dem Land, vielleicht nicht das, was Sie gewohnt sind. Sie haben das Anwesen nach 2 Tagen verlassen, ohne vorher meinen Buchungsmanager wegen Ihrer Probleme zu kontaktieren oder mit unserer Haushälterin zu sprechen, die Sie beim Gehen beobachtet hat. Mein Nachbar hat sich in 5 Jahren bis zu Ihrer Buchung nie über den Lärm meiner Gäste beschwert. Ihre Kinder rannten bis spät in die Nacht auf dem gesamten Anwesen, einschließlich meinem eigenen Haus, herum und schrien ununterbrochen, was anderen Gästen und Nachbarn gegenüber nicht respektvoll ist. Sie erfinden Probleme, nachdem Sie gegangen sind, ohne sie zuerst anzusprechen. Der Garten und die Anwesen werden von meinem Team in einem hohen Standard gepflegt. Ermutigen Sie andere Gäste, sich meine anderen Bewertungen anzusehen.

Leider wenig Sommerwetter

Wir hatten leider Pech mit dem Wetter. Aber da kann die Unterkunft nichts dafür. Es ist ein sehr schönes altes Haus. So wie man es sich in der Gefrbd vorstellt. Der Garten war sehr gepflegt und durch das Wetter musste dich auch keine Pflamze Sorgen machen. Alles hat wunderschön geblüht. Wir hatten sogar das Vergnügen Daniel kennenzulernen. Ein sehr herzlicher und lustiger Zeitgenosse. Wir werden dieses Haus sicher nochmal versuchen zu buchen.

Großartiges Anwesen

Mit einem Wort: paradiesisch! Ein wunderbares Haus inmitten eines von Daniel liebevoll gepflegten Rosen-und Staudengartens. Stilgerechte Einrichtung mit sehr guten Betten! Die Lage zwischen Saint Vaast-La-Hougue und Barneville-Carteret ist ideal, um sowohl die nördliche, als auch die südliche Küste der Cotentin kennenzulernen. Daniel gab uns viele gute Tipps, auch für den folgenden Teil unserer Reise. Wir bedanken uns für die sehr freundliche Begrüßung und die Gespräche inbetween. Thank you and all the best!

surprise à l'arrivée

gite confortable, propre , bien situé dans le Cotentin mais nous avons eu la surprise à l'arrivée par le fait qu'il y a deux gites dans la maison qui apparait sur l'annonce et que cette mitoyenneté n'était pas indiquée dans l'annonce. Par ailleurs un TER passe à 200m environ à l'arrière de la maison.

Dommage !

Bel écrin de verdure, plein de charme et de calme (le T.E.R. passe dans le fond du jardin, Dieu merci pas souvent). Malheureusement la propreté n'est pas au rendez-vous ! Vaisselle sale (surtout les casseroles et faitouts), pleins d'insectes morts alors que le ménage semble avoir été fait une ou deux heures avant notre arrivée (traces de détergent dans l'évier). Nous avons bougé un lit du rez-de-chaussée (pour éviter une fuite venant de la douche du 1er étage !) et avons découvert sous le lit un tas de saletés et moutons, prouvant que le ménage est fait d'une façon très partielle (en temps de Covid !). Notre hôte, anglais, ne veut qu'une clientèle internationale ne parlant qu'anglais, résultat : chaînes de TV anglaises exclusivement, consignes en anglais aussi. A déconseiller à toute clientèle non internationale ayant pas peur de la saleté ! Pour 135 € / nuit à trois adultes, un peu cher pour une telle prestation ... Beautiful green setting, full of charm and calm (the train passes in the back of the garden, thank God not often). Unfortunately the cleanliness is not there! (especially the pots and pans), full of dead insects while the cleaning seems to have been done an hour or two before our arrival (traces of detergent in the sink). We moved a bed on the ground floor (to avoid a leak from the shower on the 1st floor!) And discovered a pile of dirt and sheep under the bed, proving that the cleaning was done in a very partial way. (in times of Covid!). Our host, English, only wants international customers who speak only English, result: English TV channels exclusively, instructions in English too. Not recommended for any non-international clientele not afraid of dirt! For 135 € / night for three adults, a bit expensive for such a service ...

Authentic Norman hamlet with an artistic atmosphere

We had found the wonderfully quiet and peaceful place of La Baubet for a week. The house is very lovingly renovated and furnished. The service was very good and easy with lots of recommendations. Even though Normandy showed us every day what varied weather it has in store, we were able to make the most of the days and get to know the Cotentin peninsula from Utah beach in the east to Granville in the west. The location is very special, short distances, untouristic for the real Norman life also in the next towns Briquebec and Vagnoles. Thank you for the welcome with the goodies, we enjoyed it. A beautiful cottage in a lovely location!

The cottage is well decorated and it was so nice that each room had an en suite! Normandy is such a lovely region with so much to do and see. The cottage is well located for many sights including Le Mont Saint-Michel and the D Day landing beaches. There are two good restaurants a short drive away. Out only regret about booking this cottage, is that we didn't book it for longer! We hope to return!

3 golfs à proximité (max 20km) dont 2 links. Gite très agréable (soyez anglophone cela dit :-)), Daniel Parker très accueillant et très sympathique !!!. Pour les hyper-connectés : wifi erratique par contre... c'est l'occasion de débrancher du coup!)

Charmant cottage, bien tenu et accueillant

L'endroit est calme et bien tenu (intérieur et extérieur). Le cottage que nous avons occupé est correctement équipé et peut recevoir 3 couples, chaque chambre ayant une salle de bain. M. Parker, était présent et très attentionné. Beaucoup d'étrangers réservent ce cottage (UK, Allemagne, Hollande), et toutes les consignes sont en anglais, ce qui peut déconcerter certains de nos compatriotes. Nous avons beaucoup aimé notre séjour, et profité du beau temps pour visiter Valognes, Cherbourg, le Cap de la Hague, les plages du débarquement, Réville et Barfleur, Saint Vaast la Hougue...de belles découvertes, de bonnes tables et des ballades agréables. Nous recommandons vivement cette destination.

Daniel fell in love with the area whilst working on the HBO Band of Brothers series in 2000, part of which describes the D-day landings on nearby Utah beach and the subsequent battle for the peninsular which is now my home. The peacefulness of the countryside and the emptiness of the local beaches combined with a way of life that has changed little over the last few hundred years makes it ideal retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Because of Daniels' work in film production, his work schedule can be quite hectic and unpredictable and Manuela works as an Ayurvedic doctor in her Berlin based clinic and is a top and acupuncturist also takes her around the world as an international specialist. It is usually with a huge sigh of relief that both he and Manuela return to my peaceful haven to unwind! We hope you will enjoy the farm and the surroundings as much as we do, & whilst we live on site, rest assured your cottage have their own private spaces.

The area being so beautiful and the potential of the property and grounds was too good an opportunity to pass up, it has taken a long time, but it has been worth it, I hope you enjoy the place as much as we do!

The property is tucked away in a tiny hamlet of its own, extremely private and off the beaten track, although close to the local network of cycleways and a short drive to local shops/bakery and restaurants. And the beaches are fantastic, again just a short drive, and then of course the whole area is steeped in history from the Vikings to WWII and the D-day landings. Please remember that we also accept dogs (up to 2 per booking) to share your relaxing walks with... with the entire family ; )
