Located at 409 Shore Road, Nokomis, FL 34275, we have been proudly serving guests since 2003. Our guests return again and again to enjoy our clean, quiet, safe and comfortable accommodations in a great residential beach neighborhood. This charming villa is located in our Seahorse Shores duplex and is thoughtfully outfitted for your maximum vacation enjoyment. The unit is tastefully appointed, non-smoking, and has two bedrooms, one bath, living/dining area, kitchen and a spacious, sunny Florida room. Your villa is just a half mile walk by sidewalk from your front door to Nokomis Beach.

Enjoy one of the Best Beaches in Florida!: Nokomis Beach is thought by many to be the best beach in Florida. Nokomis Beach is located on the barrier island of Casey Key. Casey Key is 'old Florida' in all the best sense. There are no highrises or condos on Casey Key, and no large hotels. A few 1950's motels still remain on the edge of the Gulf of Mexico but the rest of Casey Key is home to beautiful beach front homes. The author Steven King has a home here. Casey Key has the highest concentration of nesting sea turtles anyplace on Gulf of Mexico in the U.S. From May to October the lights are kept from shining on the beach so the hatchlings can safely make their way to the water. The residents of Casey Key value their pristine paradise and it is only a 1/2 mile walk from your villa at Seahorse Shores. The local beaches thoughtfully provide outdoor showers to rinse the sand and salt off. For the more adventurous, Venice offers the best fossil shark tooth diving in the world. Some of our guests have become Scuba certified here.

Great things to do!: Nokomis Beach is 1/2 mile away! We provide a great guest binder in the villa with information about these activities and others and with menus

from the great

local restaurants. Unique and fun things to do in this tropical vacation paradise: Visit the world famous Venice Audubon Rookery where herons, egrets and other birds nest. 8 miles away,

free. Peak Season is Winter/Spring. Scuba Dive off of Venice Beach for fossil sharks' teeth including huge Megalodon teeth and other fossils. You

can go right in from the shore. 4 miles away. Or go out on a Florida West Scuba School charter boat that will

put you right on the best spots. You can also get quickly certified and do your training dives right from the

beach where the sharks' teeth are. Visibility is best in April, May & June but divers go year round. Great Fishing and Golfing is plentiful and well known to those who enjoy those sports. The Venice Jetty Fish Camp (1.5 miles away) sells live bait shrimp before dawn.

More Great things to do!: Enjoy the drum circles at Nokomis Beach every Wednesday and Saturday 1 hour before Sunset. Go Kayaking with any of several local outfitters. Take a tour, a class, rent a kayak or go to a free kayak demo to try paddling many models for free. You can also rent kayaks and canoes at Myakka River State Park and canoes at Oscar Scherer State Park. Visit Myakka River State Park and walk thru the tree tops on one of the world's few canopy walks. They also have tours on the world's largest airboat for up close views of alligators and other wildlife (airboat tour is $10) 20 miles away. Admission to the State Park is $5 per carload. Ride a bicycle or walk along our newly completed trails: the Venetian Waterway Park in Venice (10 miles of paved trail along both sides of the intercoastal waterway) and the 12 Mile Legacy Trail from Venice to Sarasota. A trailhead is less than 2 miles away. Take a unique 90 minute tour of Venice waterways and streets in 'Just Ducky', an amphibious vehicle.

Great Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I came to Florida for a wedding, and staying at the Nelson's house was cheaper than staying in a hotel for a week. The house was clean, and perfect for what we needed for the week.

The house was within walking distance to the beach, which was great for our vacation.

We would gladly stay here again!

Owner's Response: Please accept my personal apology for not knowing your name. With 4 units and short summer stays, it is not always possible to have all guests' names on the tip of my tongue when I am working outside in the summer heat at the properties. I also apologize for any aspects of your stay that were disappointing to you. We strive for guest satisfaction and that is the lifeblood of the business for the last 14 years. If we truly were presenting a substandard property to guests we would not have the business or reviews that we have. I am at somewhat of a loss to respond to your other comments. None of this was brought to our attention during your stay so that we could address it. The sheets are unquestionably washed and clean when you arrive. I personally inspect every unit every time while the cleaning crew is there and it is just not possible that the sheets are not clean. Perhaps you were displeased in some way with the level of cleanliness but I can assure you that they were clean. As far as kitchen utensils and pans we have a checklist and we try to provide everything within reason. If anybody requests any needed item we always obtain it. Likewise, I am not sure exactly what the other comments mean but we have regular pest control. It is however Florida in the summer and the occasional bug will occasionally make its way inside and die. Again, we are deeply sorry that the accommodations did not meet your expectations and wish you would have brought this to our attention when we could have done something about it.

perfect place to stay

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful place to stay for our yearly visit to the area. We have been coming to Nokomis or Venice Beach now for 10 years every Thanksgiving and have now found the perfect place to stay for our family of four. It is located just a short walk to the beach. Comes equipped with so many extras (bikes, beach toys and chairs etc.), is clean and has very comfortable beds. And if by chance you are missing something, Greg will take care of anything right away! Already told Greg we'd be back next year - and probably years to come. Highly recommended!

Very Impressive

  • 5 of 5

Very nice and quiet location. This rental had everything anyone could possibly need and was very clean upon arrival. I met the owner, Greg Nelson, upon my arrival and he was exceptionally nice. I would recommend this property to everyone. I will definitely rent here again in the future. The restaurants I went to was Sharkey's which was on Venice Island and it was great. You also have to try Rosebuds off Hwy 41 because there prime rib was spectacular. If you have children then you need to go to Sarasota Jungle Gardens because we had a blast as well as Disney World of course.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your nice comments. Also thanks for leaving the place insanely clean. That was really not necessary. You do pay a cleaning fee after all. My friend who cleans the place had had surgery on her hand so it was a nice surprise at a good time. She didn't have to kill herself getting it clean. I walked in there and I was confused. Like "has it already been cleaned?" That may have been the cleanest anybody ever left it. It is always nice to have smart respectful appreciative people as guests. The world would run much better if everybody acted that way. It was a pleasure to meet you and thank you.
