Fabulous location, convenient to the beach and the Village, but some issues to be dealt with.

  • 3 of 5

Overall a nice place and a great location. One bathroom has been completely remodeled, the kitchen and sitting area are nice as well. We were a little bit disappointed in the comfort of the beds and the linen quality of the sheets and towels. Although that may sound silly, when paying that money for a place one expects a little better quality and comfort. The kitchen was also lacking in what we considered standard equipment… A large skillet, 9X11 pan, etc. TV in bedroom did not work either . We enjoyed the outdoor patio table… It almost felt like another room! We enjoyed the closet of beach equipment that provided us with chairs, mats, balls and even umbrellas. As mentioned earlier, the location of this property is fabulous. We were able to ride bikes all through the community, right up to the village and everything was within walking distance. Really a great spot...it just needs a little updating and TLC.

Great location, nice house. Could use updating but nice nonetheless

  • 5 of 5

Wasn’t able to book the house we rented last year due to my procrastination so we booked 424 canal. Had mixed reviews, but I must say we had a great week. The house could use some updating, but considering most rentals don’t allow pets and this one did it worked for us. The house is a block from the beach and a block and a half from the town. We enjoyed ourselves all week and would stay again.

New kitchen, generally clean, but had some major plumbing problems. Uncomfortable beds.

  • 2 of 5

We were disappointed. There was one rusty beach chair for six of us. We called and they said that they don't provide them. The kitchen had new appliances and was well stocked. Unfortunitely, the pots and pans were scratched and the Teflon was coming off so we went out and bought a skillet. The kitchen also had tiny ants. The bed in the master bedroom had a piece of foam on it (waffle side up), and the other mattresses were old also. We also called regarding a discusting moldy shower curtain liner in the master bath. They brought us a new one the next day. The toilets in both bathrooms rocked when sat on. (They were not properly installed.) My adult son-in-law complained about the moldy smell in the other bathroom, and had to clean out the sink drain because it wouldn't drain. We found out the last day why it smelled moldy, when the shower floor collapsed while my daughter was showering. All the wood was rotten underneath, and molded. It was lucky no one got hurt. Of course we reported it to the rental company, and they apologized and refunded us some of our money, but this property should never have been rented out with major plumbing problems.

The living room was comfortable. Nice dining area and porch. There was a new washer and dryer. Good location for walking to the beach. It could be a nice place someday.

So much potential but lacking quality

  • 2 of 5

This place has the potential to be awesome. It's in a great location, the porch was nice and the cottage is a nice size but the quality fell short. I thought I was getting a great deal for the price but it turned out that I got what I paid for. Some little improvements could really help improve the quality and some major improvements would really make the place awesome. The linens were dated. The towels weren't matching and had stains on them. We actually went and bought our own towels to use for the week because we were unsure of the cleanliness of the towels. It was a small issue but if the towels were a better quality it would help. The bed linens (comforter, pillows, etc) could stand to be updated. They were dated and it made the place feel less cozy and appealing. Again, not a huge issue but these are small improvements that would make a big impact. The 2nd bathroom was very dated. The shower looked dirty, the towel bar was loose and fell off when we placed a towel on it. There was a towel underneath the sink with long black hair all over it, the toilet wasn't screwed to the floor all the way. This bathroom really needs to be updated. I know this is a major expense but it was really was poor quality. The master bath was better but we were left a bar or dial soap on the sink that looked like it had been crushed and the wrapper was peeling off. We threw it away.

The kitchen had mold mites crawling all over the counters and we never were able to cook in the kitchen because of the infestation. However, the kitchen was decent quality. There was also mice droppings in the cabinet with the glasses and in the laundry room on the dryer. It was gross. There was a dish towel on the shelf with spilled seasoning all over it. I'm not sure what company is used for housekeeping but it didn't look like it was cleaned appropriately.

I also lost a toenail because of about a 2 inch step up from the tile to hardwood. I'm sure there is nothing that can be done about this but after all the other things it really escalated my frustration.

The location is great. We loved hanging out on the porch during the rainy times and the washer and dryer was very convenient. I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately we will be like looking for a new place to stay in the future. Small improvements such as better cleaning and updated linens would make a big impact in the appeal and quality of the place and the 2nd bathroom really needs to be updated.

An older property but overall very cozy and accommodating

  • 5 of 5

Loved the vicinity!!! Everything was walking distance, away from the busy road, friendly people all around. Our dog loved his stay, nice little fenced porch and outdoor area in front of cottage. Beach for dogs about 30 minutes away, in Venice, which was awesome!! Everything was provided and access to washer and dryer was great. Would go there again in a heartbeat.
