About this property

Ty-Gwyn Cottage - Retreat Group

Ty-Gwyn is superbly located in the tranquil area of Capeluchaf, an area of outstanding natural beauty nestled on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park.

The stone-built cottage has been lovingly restored to provide cosy accommodation for up to seven people. Featuring three bedrooms (1 King, 1 Double and 3 Singles) makes Ty Gwyn the perfect location for couples and families alike looking to escape and explore the beautiful surroundings on offer. [Note the 3 singles are a bedroom located off the main king bedroom]

The equipped kitchen features solid worktops, cooker and hob, fridge / freezer, washing machine and microwave. The kitchen window provides great views of the many acres of farmland.

The lounge and dining area feature comfy sofa seating, log burning stove (logs NOT provided), TV and Stereo / Bluetooth speaker. The adjoining dining area features a large table and chairs creating a communal setting between the lounge and dining area.

The family bathroom with shower and separate bath is also on the ground floor. A separate WC is located next to the porch.

Outside is a large unfenced open garden with idyllic views over the Valley, on a clear day you can also make out Glyder Fawr, the highest peak in the Glyderau range. If you are feeling energetic, why not try this strenuous walk & scramble to its rocky 1,001m summit!
At the rear of the property you will find access to our 20 acres of farmland that can be explored by the adventurous (long grass....and its Wales so bring waterproofs!) and is a great place to spot many species of wildlife.

Please note the driveway from the road and up to Ty-Gwyn itself is very narrow and unsuitable for wide vehicles. For cyclists using a road bike, the track leading to the property would be unsuitable for a road bike straight from the house due to the uneven ground. Road bike cyclists would need to drive down to the bottom of the road to then offload bikes. Mountain bikes would be fine to set off straight from the property.

Lovely quiet cottage with everything you need
We had a lovely stay at the stone cottage, it had everything we needed and the log fire was wonderful. The lane to access the property is very tight which we didn't expect and the garden was a bit overgrown but I guess it was rustic! You definitely need a car for getting about to the shops etc but the whole place was lovely and cosy, we enjoyed many evenings in and slept really well after days out exploring!

Truly secluded hidden gem
As a family who has been shielding for the majority of the last 18 months due to the covid pandemic, we had a very specific wishlist for our summer holiday… we dreamed of a pretty little stone cottage, surrounded by nothing but nature, and close to some beautiful deserted beaches. We thought it was too much to hope for, but we were lucky enough to find the listing for Ty-Gwyn and it seemed to tick every single box on our wishlist! Having spent the last week here, it really is every bit as amazing as we’d hoped for - a truly secluded hidden gem. Beautifully renovated by the owners, it’s clear to see how much love and effort was put into breathing new life back into the cottage after it fell into disrepair. My kids have spent many happy hours bug-hunting in the meadows up the hill just behind the cottage and collecting beautiful shells and pebbles on the nearby beaches at Aberdesach and Dinas Dinlle. We hope to return again one day in the near future. Thank you!
