Come on home to the "Bike Path Bungalow" and ride the Olympic Discovery Trail!

Bedrooms 2
Space 800 sq ft
Property type bungalow
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

This family friendly home is perfectly located to see all the Peninsula's sites.

The Bike Path Bungalow is new to the vacation rental market as of June 2017. We have recently remodeled and restructured this house, so everything is new, all the way down to the windows, flooring and kitchen cabinets! It shares a 2 acre lot with our home, but you will have plenty of privacy and your own yard.

The exterior features an accessible ramp and a large deck that has plenty of space for outdoor eating (grill available) or for soaking up the famous rain-shadow sunshine. There is yard space for privacy and a fire pit for a special place to gather in the evening for a few s'mores before bedtime.

The interior has a bright, open layout that combines the kitchen, dining and living room areas in one large space. There are skylights that bring in even more light. The new gas fireplace in the living area gives you a place to relax after a hard day of vacationing and recharge yourself for the next day. The well-equipped kitchen has a regular sized refrigerator, an electric range, a microwave hood combination, and a dishwasher as well as plenty of counter space. (Check our Facebook page to see what's in the kitchen cupboards.) We have tried to equip it with everything you might need for cooking, but we also can lend you just about anything you don't find there. The main bedroom is large and airy and has a king sized bed that is actually two extra long twin beds that can be separated if needed (extra setup and bedding fee). There is a small but mighty bunkroom suitable even for adults with sturdy built in bunks that have extra long twin matresses and removable rails. In addition there is also a full sized futon in the main living area that sleeps 2 kids easily or 2 adults cozily. ;) The bicycle themed bathroom has a shower and the vanity has double sinks.

We have a small Pack and Play, a full sized portable crib, and a booster seat with a detachable tray available for you to use, as well as a box of toys and some yard toys if you are traveling with children.

There is a Spacemaker unitized washer and dryer in the bungalow for your use (so you can pack lighter!) and we provide the detergent and dryer sheets.

We think our location on the Olympic Peninsula is a perfect starting spot for your vacation. The Bike Path Bungalow is about half way between Sequim and Port Angeles so day-trips are easily made to Port Townsend or Poulsbo to the east or to the west you can easily visit all the diverse areas of the Olympic National Park (Hurricane Ridge, Lake Crescent, Sol Duc Falls and hot springs, the Hoh Rainforest, and beautiful Rialto and Ruby Beaches on the Pacific Ocean). Our summer days are long here and Victoria, BC with its old world architecture and world famous Butchart Gardens is just a ferry ride (passport necessary) away. You might even spot a whale or two on the ride over!

The feeder bike path on the edge of the property leads directly to the Olympic Discovery Trail, which is a short 1/3 mile away. Bike rentals are available in both Sequim and Port Angeles.

This area is famous for its beautiful lavender farms and two of the best are nearby! Victor's Lavender Farm is less than 1/2 mile away and Washington Lavender is less than 2 miles. The Agnew Grocery and Feed Store, less than a mile away, feels like a wonderful step into the past and is a great stop for basic groceries. They also have a great wine and beer selection, as well as wine tasting on Thursdays!

We have a lot of tourism information in the Bungalow, as well as hiking and sightseeing books for the area. We are always happy to answer any questions you might have when planning your trip.

If you haven't been to the Olympic Peninsula before you are in for a visual treat. Bring your camera and be prepared to use it. From the lavender fields to the mountains, the rainforest to the ocean, the beautiful pastoral scenes to amazing views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and gorgeous Lake Crescent, you will be amazed at the variety of things you can see in a day's drive! Come, enjoy, soak it all in. The only difficult thing about the Olympic Peninsula is having to leave it.

Why Joleen Schultz chose Port Angeles

We purchased this property in 2014, a year before we actually retired and moved here from Iowa. We decided a vacation rental was the perfect way to use the second house that was on our property. We love to travel and have used vacation rentals locally and around the world. We personally love being in a home instead of a hotel because of the extra space, plus we like being able to cook some of our own meals or prepare picnics to take with us.

We did a lot of looking around before we chose the Olympic Peninsula as our retirement destination. We truly think it is a magical place and think you will, too.

Great long weekend stay near the bike path

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time with our family. Their place had so many special touches and they were so helpful with ideas. The beds were great and comfortable, including the bunk beds! I would definitely recommend it!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review! I don't remember if we mentioned it to you, but you were the first guests to use the new built-in bunks. We love how they turned out and the twin xl mattresses make them work for anyone. We hope you will keep us in mind for future getaways, next time bring the bikes! Come back soon! Joleen and Steve

Great hosts and home

  • 5 of 5

The Bikehouse Bungalow was a wonderful home away from home. We had all the amenities that we needed located in a very well thought out home. Everything was clearly labeled and easy to use. Everything was very clean and the decor was super cute. The beds were very comfy and the kitchen was well stocked with helpful items. My family (my husband, son, and mom) thoroughly enjoyed our stay. My son loved the banana bread provided by the thoughtful hosts. Prior to the trip we received several emails with support, directions, places to hike, and much more. It was very helpful. The surrounding area is amazing:) Thank you Joleen and Steve.

A True Vacation

  • 5 of 5

I planned this trip for a short weekend stay in mid-November with my mom and sister. The weather was gorgeous! The owners were very accommodating and very welcoming. We walked in to a clean, spacious home that felt like home. There was plenty of clean linen, the kitchen was well-stocked for any needs we may have had (we ate out, did not cook any meals), and the seating was ample and comfortable for any meals, games, and movies. There was every convenience of home. The fireplace added warmth and comfort. The heat pump worked like a charm for the November chill. There was plenty of warm water for showers. The beds were comfortable and luxurious. All furnishings are up-to-date and modern. All in all, we were very surprised and impressed with how well furnished the apartment was and how much attention to detail the owners had put into preparing it for guests.

There was plenty of parking, and directions were easy to follow (would recommend arriving in daylight, though, as it is dark in the neighborhood at night). it is a very quiet neighborhood. Location is central to the Olympics and downtown; we even made a day trip to Neah Bay.

We hope to stay here again!

Great Property with Great Hosts

  • 5 of 5

A perfect refuge for exploring the beauty and grandeur of the Olympic Peninsula, Olympic National Park, and the Puget Sound. The location couldn't be anymore convenient. It was very comfortable. The amenities are all modern and well thought-out -- making this place a very good value. And an added plus: the hosts were friendly and helpful. We look forward to returning.

Wonderful oasis, close to Olympic National Park

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful home and location! The pictures are lovely, but they don't do this beautiful home justice! The BikePath Bungalow was full of everything you could want for a trip on the Olympic Peninsula. Joleen and Steve were excellent hosts and thought of everything we could have wanted during our stay. Prior to the trip, Joleen collected tips and suggestions for places my husband and I may want to visit and then left us brochures and maps to easily find everything. The kitchen is fully stocked with anything you'd need to make a meal, but the location is close to Port Angeles and Sequim for easy access to shopping and amenities as well as visits to Olympic National Park. We really couldn't recommend this home more and will definitely plan to stay there again in the future! Thank you so much Steve and Joleen!

The Dungeness (as in Dungeness Crab, named for this area) Spit Trail entrance (longest naturally occurring sand spit in the nation) is about 4.5 miles from here.

Lavender loves this climate and the annual Lavender Festival every July draws thousands of people from all over the world. There is music, art, crafts, great food and of course lots and lots of lavender. Many of the lavender farms have their own festivals happening at the same time. It is one of our favorite festivals and 2 of the best farms are very close to us.

Sequim is also known for its Irrigation Festival. Each year in May, we celebrate with a variety of events including a logging show, car show, kids' parade, grand parade, strongman competition, art show, arts & crafts show and more!

The Northwest Colonial Festival is held the second week of August. There are daily battle reenactments. It is a beautiful place to learn about colonial history and ancestry and step back in time for a few days. It takes place less than 2 miles from The Bike Path Bungalow!

The Olympic Peninsula Air Show at the end of August features Airplane Fly-in with Live Music, Biplane Rides, Skydivers, R C & Experimental Airplanes, Hot Air Balloon Rides, Car Show, Music, Vendors and Great Food! It is held at the Sequim Valley Airport, 2.8 miles from here.

Port Angeles has celebrations as well! The Juan de Fuca Music Festival, which occurs over Memorial Day Weekend, is a 4 day music and arts festival that brings in musical talent from many places.

Another of our favorites is the Dungeness Crab & Seafood in early October. It includes food, art, music, Native American

activities, and childrens events into one spectacular 3-day event for everyone! It celebrates the world-famous Dungeness Crab, named after the nearby village of Dungeness, and the bounty of the sea. It features 14 restaurants, cooking demonstrations with celebrity chefs, Chowder Cook-Off, the Grab-a-Crab Derby, local wine and beer, craft and merchant vendors, live music, and many more events. It is held rain or shine and admission is free.
