About Lee Penland
Natives of Atlanta, lovers of Northeast Georgia , we escaped Atlanta and now live in Rabun County full time. We renovated this cabin two years ago as our weekend retreat. Shortly after, we decided to move here full time. We lived in the cabin while we built our new home. Now this cabin is available as a vacation rental. Come experience what we experience every day! A little piece of Heaven!
We stayed here for the weekend and were blown away by the house. Every detail of it is gorgeous. We loved being on the front porch. It’s so quiet and private. It is in a perfect location. Close to several lakes, hiking, shopping and restaurants. Lee and Katie were wonderful to check in on us to make sure we had everything we needed and since no one was checking in after us they offered to let us take our time checking out. This will definitely not be the last time we visit!
Most Beautiful View Ever while Playing Cornhole
I completely agree with all of the wonderful reviews from other guests. What can I add? Well, playing the game cornhole (provided by the owners) was wonderful fun, especially with the most beautiful view in the background. We loved our stay!! Thank you!
Beautiful home and surrounding
Really nice view of the valley below. We loved the neighbors. Everyone was so kind and polite. They allowed us to go down to their pond, and hike through their pasture to get to the winery.
Gorgeous views and top-notch hospitality!!
This was our first VRBO experience and we could not be more pleased!! We had superb communication with the owners prearrival to the day we left! Mr Penland even personally delivered lighter sticks within 5 min for the grill when we realized there were none in the cabin! The home was amazing!! The decor was beautiful, yet homey!! I took some
pics so that I could decorate my own house very similar! Ha! The porch bed swing was my teen daughter’s favorite reading nook. The views were GORGEOUS and the pics do NOT do it justice!! The beds were extremely comfy and the kitchen had everything we could have ever needed/wanted!! Lots to do fairly close by, we went to Helen for the day, Tallulah Gorge State Park, Downtown Clayton, and Cleveland! We cannot say enough wonderful things about this place!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! We will definitely be back!!
Fantastic! View is beautiful! Fire pit awesome, owners great, beds comfy, clean and updated! Lovely
We had a wonderful time at this beautiful home. The owners are very nice. The house was updated, clean and very comfortable. The view is fantastic and everyone loved the outdoor fire pit. We will definitely be back!
Thank you for your gracious review! We look forward to hosting your vacation again in the future!

Overall an amazing stay.
This was a very last minute trip that we decided to take to celebrate my birthday. We decided to drive up 12+ hours from south Florida to enjoy some beautiful north Georgia fall weather. We requested the home late at night for check in on the next day (I don't recommend doing this because it's a gamble) but luckily for us, Lee was amazing and responded quickly the next morning and accepted our request. I am so thankful for that! The home was clean, organized, and exactly as described on here. We had no surprises - well yes, the view was a surprise because even though you see it in pictures nothing compares to seeing it in real life. The view from the front porch was amazing - we wanted to sit on the rocking chairs all day and just stare. :) I also think it was peak weekend and so the fall foliage was mesmerizing - hues of yellows, and oranges, and reds throughout! The house is easily accessible, nearby to most parks. You have Tallulah Gorge State Park and Black Rock Mountain State Park very close that offer several hikes. We also enjoyed hiking Panther Creek Falls which was nearby. Helen, the scenic byway, and Brasstown Bald are within 45 minutes drive which is not bad at all. We had a great time hiking all day and then getting "home" to unwind, do some cooking and watch some football. It was amazing and we had a fabulous time. Neighborhood is quiet and there is privacy. Internet worked great. Metro PCS cell reception was great too. Thanks again for opening up your home to us! <3
