“If you read a lot, nothing is as great as you’ve imagined. Venice is—Venice is better.”

~ Fran Lebowitz

After a long day of exploring in Venice, imagine what a pleasure it will be to return home to your own apartment in Castello, La Serenissima’s most authentic neighborhood. You’ll get a taste of the real Venice while enjoying a can’t-miss location. Our comfortable apartment provides the perfect home base for exploring the city, and a welcome respite from the crowds. It’s well stocked with everything you need for a relaxing holiday.

Our quiet, light-filled apartment has a comfortable and efficient floor plan. The apartment is about 600 square feet. The spacious “matrimoniale” bedroom features a romantic canopy bed, a desk, and lots of storage for your clothes. There’s a small room that can be used as an office or a small single bedroom, and a little loft, accessed by a spiral staircase, with a desk, some games, and bookshelves full of guidebooks and novels… a perfect nook to hide out and read.

The apartment is one building back from the Riva dei Sette Martiri, a wide, sunny walkway that runs along the waterfront all the way to St. Mark’s Square, just 10 minutes from your door, but a world away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist track. It's a short, picturesque walk to Venice’s major sights, as well as some of the city’s lesser-known charms, and close to both the Arsenale and Giardini vaporetto stops.

The airy open kitchen and living room area are perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine while your dinner simmers on the stove. The kitchen has good pans and knives, a four-burner stove, refrigerator and freezer, microwave, and a dishwasher. Everything you need to prepare meals is at hand, once you're done shopping for fresh fish and produce, either at the famous Rialto market or the local markets on nearby Via Garibaldi, where you'll find all the local shops and services you need. The living room couch also folds out to a double bed, so the apartment can sleep four. There is one bathroom with a shower over the tub.

There's no elevator to this top-floor flat, but your reward for climbing the 58 steps is lovely views and fresh breezes.

We have wifi and a land line.

Please note that we have a three-night minimum stay requirement and we do not make exceptions.

Marcel Proust wrote “When I went to Venice, my dream became my address.” So why not find yourself at home in Venice?

But don't just take our word for it. Here are some comments from recent guests:

“Thank you so much for providing us with a perfectly wonderful place to stay!”

“Our stay was amazing! The flat was wonderfully cozy, and in a wonderful location.”

“We enjoyed staying here tremendously! The location could not be better.”

“Thank you for all your help and advice. It is lovely to feel so at home when in fact we are on the other side of the world.”

About Linda

We fell in love with Venice many years ago, and long dreamed of living here.

Linda purchased this apartment in 2006

Why Linda chose Venice

Charles Dickens summed it up well: 'Nothing in the world that you ever heard of Venice is equal to the magnificent and stupendous reality.' Owning a home here was the realization of our dream.

What makes this apartment unique

Our neighborhood is non-touristy, so you can sample Venetian life. Walk along the waterfront, stroll through the gardens, or stop at one of the terrific local stores for fresh product, handmade pasta, or some of the best gelato in town -- all without battling crowds. We consistently hear from people who have stayed in our apartment how much they love the neighborhood.

Very inviting, great natural light, beautiful view & so comfortable. It felt like being at home.

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was up dated nicely. It had the conveniences of home. Kitchen had coffee, teas, sugar, spices if you want to cook. Fully stocked with dishes, utencils etc.Bed is very comfortable. Clothes washer a plus. We used dryer rack & outside side clothes line, just like the neighbors! The bathroom updated with a nice tub to soak after much walking & site seeing. Shower head also if shower is preferable, careful not to splash water on floor as the shower curtain did not go all the way around.

(There is a mop though to mop the floor.)

Hair dryer another plus, with the adapter to 220Volt included. Before we signed on for this beautiful apartment the owner did let us know there are 56 steps from first floor to apartment.

With all the delicious food, wine we enjoyed, the steps were not an issue for us. Behind apartment there is a park to sit & enjoy the sights & sounds of daily living in Venice. The shops are great too. St. Mark's Square a short walk, maybe 15 minute walk or less. One evening we listened to Vivaldi's Four Seasons performed by stringed, quintet of college students at an auditorium not far from the apartment. It was only 25 euro per person. Their performance was superb! In the evenings about 9 or 10 pm. we strolled the streets & found a couple of local bars to enjoy a glass of wine & take it all in---live in the moment. Awesome experience! Owner has site seeing books to borrow & also instructions on everything in apartment that you need to know.

We totally enjoyed our stay & recommend if climbing stairs up to apt is not an issue.

Beautiful stay in Venezia

  • 5 of 5

Castello flat is superbly located and extremely comfortable. Amenities were as advertised but larger than we expected from the photos. We enjoyed full days of sightseeing from our base and then peace and relaxation in the evenings. We loved buying provisions in the nearly Via Garibaldi and cooked up some great vegan meals in the well-appointed kitchen. The soaker tub was a bonus after our lengthy walks through this amazing city. Truly a home away from home. Owner was very helpful and accessible. Mille grazie!!!

Wonderful place in Venice near Girabaldi St. and St. Mark's

  • 5 of 5

I loved that the apartment was just far enough away from the St. Mark's to make it easy to get there but still be able to visit the streets inhabited by locals. When you head out of the apartment and turn toward your right there is a lovely street at the end of the alley which we adored visiting. Linda was so easy to work with as far as the rental and offered many many inside tips to help us navigate the sites we wanted to visit. Lovely experience! Highly recommend!

What a wonderful home!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved Linda's home, and Linda was the BEST! She provided so much helpful information - before the trip and in her home. My 23-year-old daughter stayed up in the loft and fell in love with it. My friends and I absolutely felt like we were in the best location - so close to everything but far from the crowds. We loved wandering the roads and just getting "lost". Linda also left some great tips regarding Venice in her home, and we really appreciated that. This was one of our favorite homes that we stayed in, and I would highly recommend it. Thank you for everything, Linda! Please thank your friend, David, also!

Perfect apartment

  • 5 of 5

We had a great three-night stay here in Venice. The apartment is quiet, clean, perfectly furnished. We were a short walk to Plaza San Marco and to some attractive parks as well. Overall, the location was close enough for easy touring but remote enough to not feel overwhelmed. Linda is a great hostess--replied to emails promptly; provided many concise pertinent details about the apartment, the area, arrivals/departures, etc. The stairs weren't nearly as bad we had anticipated from reading the reviews; our 3 and 4 year-old children managed them several times a day. Cute little loft with a view/ user-friendly kitchen/ comfy couch that doubles as a bed. After perusing through several ads and sites, we opted for this apartment and couldn't have been happier. Finding the right spot is tiresome--no need to look further... if this one is available, book it!!

Beautiful, convenient Venice apartment!

  • 5 of 5

Linda was wonderful to work with. She mailed me the key in plenty of time and left detailed instructions...even hints on local cafes and restaurants. The apartment is on a mini "street" in between the large promenade right on the lagoon and another residential street. If we went to the promenade at the lagoon, we could walk to all tourist sites immediately! When turning the other way, we had immediate access to restaurants and small shops. So convenient but still felt like we were Venetians living in a residential neighborhood. View from bedroom of lagoon is lovely. Perfect space for husband and two teens. We enjoyed stairs to apartment...helped us work off the lovely meals there! :)
