REALLY luxurious new shepherd's hut, overlooking our alpacas!

This hut was specially built for us, and is now being offered for the first time. It is BIG at 18' x 8' and has a SEPARATE shower room/loo hut which is 12' x 7'6"...the size of most people's bathrooms! It is stylish, luxuriously and fully equipped, and has a large outside deck overlooking our fields with 18 alpacas and Capability Brown open parkland beyond that. The hut has satellite WiFi and a Smart TV, offering Netflix, BBC i Player, All 4, You Tube etc.

Situated in an idyllic part of west Dorset, and just a short drive from the Jurassic Coast, this location and setting has everything you could possibly want for a few nights quiet and peaceful Glamping....without the hardships (the loo, for example, is a normal flush loo...!) An induction hob, fridge/freezer and microwave, together with mini log burner make this a cosy home away from home, and the separate shower/bath hut just a few paces away (for exclusive use of the one two person shepherd's hut) makes this a luxurious and spacious choice without the usual glamping compromises! There is also a small BBQ just to the side of the deck.

Our in tact breeding male alpaca (Dandi, by name!) is often just outside your window, and the spectacular views over parkland are just idyllic. If you want the best...then these two new stylish huts are it! For longer stays, we also have a washing machine available.

What a fantastic stay. The hut was spotless and included everything we needed for our stay. The view overlooking the Alpacas was a delight as was the log fire which made the hut warm and cosy.

The hut was nice and clean when we got there, beautiful surroundings with 1 alpaca in the field next to the hut but shame he/she wasn’t very friendly as in it wouldn’t come near us for strokes/cuddles lolSo peaceful and relaxing, I would 100% recommend.

Fabulous getaway!

We stayed two nights at this lovely hut and it was exactly what we needed. The property is pristine and the views (especially the alpacas!) just gorgeous. We had everything we needed and just enjoyed the quiet after two days of sightseeing. Thank you again for providing a great stay!!

Wonderful spot for a short break

We loved our time in the little shepherds hut. Really conveniently located and a quirky little place just right for a couple of nights. Plenty of space and really nice bathroom hut. Lovely and private and so nice watching the alpacas with a morning coffee or evening glass of wine.

Gorgeous restful two days in the hut!

My husband and I had a two night break away and loved our stay at the shepherds hut, Paul and Ljnda were ever so welcoming and we had such a restful time there. Beautiful surroundings, perfect for walks around Dorset. The hut is so cosy with many lovely touches and decor, the alpacas outside really add to the outdoor experience and fun to watch!

The accommodation was different to what we would normally stay in but enjoyed the experience. All we required were available in the hut and in good condition. Great to see the Alpaca's in the adjacent field.

The best!

I highly recommend the Alpaca Hut. It’s a great size, cosy, spotlessly clean, eco-friendly and has everything you could need. The location is stunning and we loved the alpacas. Paul and Fiona are the perfect hosts and we’d love to stay with them again. I only wish we could have spent longer here!

Weekend break

Peaceful, private and with nice walks from the doorstep. The shepherds hut was roomy and had a comfortable sleeping area and nice views over the fields. We felt well rested after our stay and will definitely return soon. Thank you so much.

Peaceful break

Went to the alpaca shepherds hut for a weekend break with the wife . the hut has been decorated to a high quality along with the bathroom hut next door which again has been finished to a high standard. This is a great place to stay to relax and recharge. Such a peaceful and quiet location with a lovely view over fields and of course the Alpacas

A slice of heaven

The most gorgeous Shepards hut in a beautiful location with generous and thoughtful hosts. I loved every second of my stay-the huts are perfectly equipped and very luxurious. The alpacas are a joy to watch and it is extremely tranquil. Great folder of things to do and places to eat etc so everything was easy. Cannot recommend the Shepherds hut highly enough.

ok for a short stay

Cute and a bit of a novelty, though lack of floor space means suitcases are a nuisance. There is plenty of drawer space under the bed if you want to unpack your stuff. The bathroom hut is lovely inside but the novelty of going from the living hut to the bathroom hut wears off fairly quickly. The charcoal fire/bbq was unusable. The owners were very friendly and it is a beautiful property.

Thanks for your review Neil and Kaye I would suggest that as you were likely to have a lot of luggage because of your extended trip, a shepherd's hut would not be the best choice under these circumstances. Most guests in this situation keep what they need in the hut, and have the suitcases in the car. For a shepherd's hut, ours is pretty big, because of the separate shower hut, but it's not very practical if you have a lot of luggage. If you had mentioned to Fiona or me that you would like to use the firepit, we would have set it up for you. We have the firelighters, charcoal etc. Most guests don't use it, and you can't leave all of that out for long periods. Hope that you enjoy the rest of your trip. Best Paul and Fiona

Easter getaway break

Had a lovely little two night stay over bank holiday weekend! Was a perfect place to visit the Jurassic coast. We love a shepherds hut stay and this was definitely on the larger side then ones we’ve stayed in before, didn’t bother us that the facilities were separate. Everything was as described comfy bed, plenty of kitchen space to cook and a little table to watch the Alpacas as you eat! We had breakfast on the deck next to ‘Dandi’ and watch a hen party attempt to corral them for a walk. A lovely all round stay - thank you!

Weekend experiance

OMG!!! Amazing scenery all around in a very quiet location far away from any road noises which made a very peaceful experience. Everything in the hut was top quality and very clean. The place was perfect for activitys for example hikeing and renting bikes and just a short drive to the beach. The alpacas made for perfect neighbours and even the host was very warm and welcoming. Strongly recomend for the perfect weekend getaway. Thank you to the hosts Paul and Fiona for the perfect experince and hospitality.

Comfy, cozy, modern - perfect!!

Wake up, gaze out of the windows onto open farmland and plenty of alpacas. Brew a cup of tea, take one of the freshly prepared biscuits and just live the slow life for a while. The stay here was beyond grounding and we loved every minute of it. The attention to detail is immense and it's the little things that make it - a friendly chat, a handbook full of tips and some freshly baked easter muffins. I would always come back here if I need time in nature. Truly recommend it to everyone looking for a weekend away. The alpaca walk is a massive highlight and from here, you can brilliantly explore dorchester and the jurrasic coast. All in all PERFECT!

Exactly as advertised

The hut was charming overlooking the Alpaca's fields. It is compact but has everything you need, cooking equipment, cutlery, TV, even a log burner. The host wasn't there when we stayed but his Sister was and she was extremely accommodating, talking to us about the local area and places to visit. The only downside for us was the weather, it was wet. The shower and toilet facilities are in another hut, only a short walk from the main hut, but not great in the dark when it's raining. We knew this situation when we booked and can't hold our hosts responsible for the weather ;-) If the weather is dry, highly recommend.

March visit

My friend and I spent Mother's Day weekend in the shepherd's hut, and what a treat it was! The area is blissfully calm and quiet, it was the perfect base to visit Durdle Door, and Sculptures by the Lake from. The hut is beatifully decorated and has everything you might need, including a folder containing recommendations for local walks, grocery shopping, etc. Not only does it have a log burner (logs were provided), it also has a small electric heater- it was enough in March! The bathroom hut is a few steps away from the main hut, also beautifully decorated, and the heated towel rail provided enough warmth. The view from the huts is stunning, overlooking the alpacas' fields and surrounded by woods. Both huts are far enough from the main house to offer privacy. Paul and Fiona were very friendly and helpful. Looking forward to visiting again!

Fiona and Paul Abadjian have 5 properties listed with VRBO. 2 in Dorset, Alpaca Shepherd's Hut and Alpaca Cottage, 1 in Battersea, London, and 2 in Marbella, southern Spain. They have been hosting most of these for 5+ years, apart from the brand new Shepherd's Hut!
Fiona is a corporate travel agent, and Paul buys and sells classic Jaguars, as well as managing the rental properties. They live in west Dorset most of the time, with 2 cocker Spaniels, 18 alpacas and 3 rescue chickens. All their properties are lavishly and stylishly specified as homes, rather than just rental properties.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

If you want the BEST in terms of Glamping without the compromises, this is it. The 2 huts (one living/sleeping, one showering/loo) are generously sized, and work in the same way as all the facilities in your home would. No primitive facilities for OUR guests!! Many thousands of pounds have been spent establishing the infrastructure, and specifying and detailing these two huts, in order to make them to stylish, attractive and user friendly. The location is stunning, with gorgeous alpacas RIGHT OUTSIDE YOUR WINDOW!! There is a lovely spacious deck on which to relax, eat, drink and take in the spectacular open views. Located just off the National Cycle Path #26....which is a private lane at our location, there are loads of great walks, country pubs and wonderful places to visit on your door step. Bikes are available for hire @£10 each per half day.
There is also decent WiFi courtesy of it's own satellite dish!
