3 Bedroom 2 Bathrooms With Stunning Ocean Views From Every Room
About Robert MacIver
My wife is an artist from the area and loved the unique location and wanted to live there since she was a child. We finally built our home in 2004 but we now live in England. We decided to rent to holiday visitors because we felt it was a waste to have such a beautiful home empty for most of the year.
Robert MacIver purchased this Cottage in 2004
Why Robert MacIver chose Burren
Our house is a traditional stone cottage but is architecturally designed to have all the mod cons including underfloor heating as well as a wood burning stove. It has a top quality kitchen and furnishings. It is on the seafront with a safe walled garden and very short walk to a sandy beach, an art gallery and renowned seafood restaurant/pub.
What makes this Cottage unique
The stunning location overlooking Galway Bay. The house is near some fantastic coastal walks, beaches, prehistoric sites, castles and some of the world's finest golf courses.

Wonderful place to relax and reconnect
Rented for two weeks, to share with family and friends. House is perfectly situated along edge of bay and is perfectly kitted out for cooking and relaxing. Bracing walks along the just-out-front shore road make enjoyment of local ice cream and Guinness all the better. Pre-rental communication with owner and duration messaging with property manager perfect. Car essential: one excellent pub/seafood restaurant about a 15/20 walk away, grocery shopping 20 min by car, Galway 45 min. We did take the once-a-day bus into Galway with good experience. The local beauty of the Burren, walking routes for all levels, artisanal food providers in adventurous drive range, lively farmer’ markets in nearby villages, and County Clare hospitality make this a very special spot.
Great place to call home for five days
We had a wonderful stay at Swallow Cottage. It has wonderful views and everything we needed plus more. I would return in a heartbeat.
Such a lovely review. thanks.
Beauty on the Burren
We are so happy we selected this property on The Burren. The location is very special, right on the shoreline along a popular hiking road. We enjoyed the sounds of the birds, the waves, scenic sunrises and sunsets and the "flaggy shore."
The location is central and all local attractions are handy and well marked. The area offers plenty to fill your days and good options for dinner near the house and in Kinvarra.
The house itself is charming, well appointed, and the manager is accomodating, helpful without intruding on your vacation. Great home in sunny, fresh, green, friendly Ireland.
Many thanks Terri for your review. You are very welcome to return to the our cottage by the sea any time.
It doesn't get any better than this
Best vacation my wife and I have ever been on. Just can't say enough about the house and the surrounding area. We will be back next year for sure. God bless Ireland
So pleased you loved the house and area. We look forward to your return.
I've Left My Heart At Flaggy....
Perfect spot for a family Christmas! The house is lovely, charming, clean, perfectly appointed and was exactly what we needed for some R and R. The area is amazing for walking and beachcombing, and Linnane's up the road has some of the best food we had anywhere in Ireland. We will be back! Thank you so much for all.... Warm regards, The Millers from Brooklyn
We are so pleased you loved the house and area and please do come back whenever you wish
Nice location and house
There are so many things to do in the area. As the house is on the beautiful Flaggy shore and 'Wild Atlantic Way', one of Irelands best coastal walk starts right outside the house. The scenery is spectacular. On one side of the house is Galway Bay and the Altantic Ocean just a few metres from your feet. On the other are fields and limestone mountains, ideal to climb and have a picnic with 360 degrees of stunning views. The house is on the beautiful Flaggy Shore with a beach and rock pools which at low tide you can forage for sea life. If you like fishing just walk 10 metres to the sea, or if you prefer just slip into one of the many small coves for a bracing swim. The local villages of Kinvara and Ballyvaughan have markets selling fresh local produce as well as superb bars and restaurants. Galway City across the bay is full of modern shops as well as old cobble streets with Irish music coming from the many bars. The Aran Islands which are in view from the house can be reached by ferry from Doolin (an hour away). The islands are also great for walking and cycling around. The Doolin ferry also goes to the Cliffs of Moher. The extraordinary Ailwee Caves are well worth a visit and just a 10 minute drive away. The house is in the tiny village of Newquay which in my opinion has one of the world's best seafood bar/ restaurant. The nearby Russell Art gallery a few hundred metres from the house has very good teas, coffee, cakes and snacks.
