Birchlea offers spacious and comfortable holiday accommodation set in the landscaped grounds of a small private group of Norwegian Lodges just a short walk from the shore front in the picturesque seaside village of Kippford. The lodge is finished and furnished to a high standard and has a large unfenced garden together with deck seating area which over looks a small lochan

Kippford is a well-known sailing centre and there are numerous coast and forest walks in the local area including easy access to the near by Dalbeattie woods with way marked walks and more strenuous mountain bike trails which form part ot the 7Stanes Forestry Commission routes. The local area provides outstanding opportunities for exploring South West Scotland including Threave Castle and National Trust for Scotland Threave Gardens, together with slightly further afield Sweetheart Abbey at New Abbey and the Mill on the Fleet at Gatehouse of Fleet. Opportunities for watching wildlife are plentiful either while enjoying beach and cliff top walks around Kippford and adjoining Rockcliffe or further afield at RSPB Mersehead which is a Mecca for winter Wildfowl but is also worth visiting in summer for the beach.
