Best value in Vail!
Park you car, walk inside, and enjoy your time in the Rockies. My home is your "home away from home". Everything is there for you! Enjoy all the comforts of home for less than the cost of a single slope side hotel room.
My well appointed 2 bed/loft, 2 bath townhouse has a superior location which is situated in a quiet neighborhood minutes from the excitement of downtown Vail Village.
Here is what to expect: the updated kitchen has granite counter-tops, maple cabinets, and top-of-the-line appliances. The stove top is gas and the oven is electric! It is equipped with everything that you need. Additionally, there is a private internet service with Blue-tooth accessibility and a full size washer and dryer.
You have stunning views of Gore Creek from the dining room and living room! The dining table seats up to 8 people. Step down from the dining room to the family room and relax in front of a wood burning fireplace and flat screen TV. There are a variety of family games and puzzles for your enjoyment.
Step out onto the deck and enjoy the sounds of the Gore Creek. The gas grill on the deck is great for barbeques all year round.
Sleeping accommodations are upstairs, with 2 bedrooms, a den and a loft - sleeps 4-6 comfortably (maximum capacity of 6). The master has a beautiful brass, king size bed. There is a flat screen TV for your viewing enjoyment. The second bedroom has a cherry, sleigh bed with a quality queen size mattress. This bedroom has a private, full size bathroom. It also has a flat screen TV. The den has 2- single twin beds; the den is open so it is not considered a private bedroom. A step ladder goes to the loft where there is extra sleeping room with 2 mattresses. Kids love this space.
I am a '(comfy) bed snob' - and, I'm told, the beds are 'oh so comfortable'!
This 40 townhouse complex has a hot-tub in the common area - it is always very clean and professionally managed and never crowded.
Need something - the grocery stores (Safeway and City Market), liquor store, ski rental shops, restaurants are 3 minutes away via bus or car.
Have a wonderful, relaxing time - make memories in Vail and at BearPaw.

Keywords: Ptarmigan, West Vail, sleeps 4-6. hot tub, pool, wood burning fireplace, on free bus line, 3 bathrooms
Ptarmigan has been my 2nd home since 1998. I'm originally from Pittsburgh, lived in Denver for over 30 years but, most recently, moved to South Carolina. I manage the guest rentals but advertise thru VRBO. My family, husband and 4 daughters - ages 21 through 29, grew up skiing, hiking, and loving the outdoors. We enjoy our home in the mountains but, also love to share it with others.
Maureen O'Hare purchased this townhome in 1998
West Vail was the perfect location for my family. Close to everything but with the privacy and quiteness of a get-away. Plus, we love the amenities of the bus at our door step and hot tub - after a great day on the mountain. Can't beat the location - right on Gore Creek.
Gore Creek provides not only a scenic delight but also a listening joy and privelege - visible from every room in the down stairs and master bedroom.
Getting to spend a week with my three children, family and friends was just "what I needed". Your condo was well-stocked, cozy, affordable and over-all perfect. Hopefully, because we all had soooo much fun, this will become a tradition. Thankyou once again for a wonderful vacation and such fabulous accomodations.
We had a great weekend in Vail and loved staying at Maureen's home!
The home was very clean and exactly as described. It's was perfect for three couples and cozy without feeling cramped. Note that one couple will have limited privacy since they're either in the loft or den - this was well advertised though. It is fully stocked with everything you'll need - we cooked breakfast each day and one dinner at home.
In terms of location, this home is amazing with a 25 yard walk to the bus stop and quick free shuttle to Vail. There's also parking right in front of the unit (the unit is also on the ground floor which makes it easy).
The thing that stood out the most from our trip is Maureen's attention to detail. We never had to contact her because she's thought of everything - from having the bus schedule on the fridge to a label on the oven for high altitude cooking temperatures adjustments. From my experience using HomeAway it's these small things are what make a great host. She was also extremely responsive when booking which is always appreciated.
We can't wait to return!
Bear Paw was perfect and centrally located to everything we needed! We spent Thanksgiving there this year and had a wonderful time! It snowed on and off most of the day, what a wonderful treat. The townhouse was just as pictured, very comfortable and well appointed and was was perfect for relaxing after the "feast". Maureen was a so helpful and gave excellent instructions for the operations of her home. We would definitely recommend to friends and family. Thanks Maureen for sharing your piece of paradise!
After surviving one of the worst winter storms this area has seen in years, we finally arrived at Maureen's little piece of paradise! Our plane was the last one to arrive at the Denver Airport before closing it down for a couple days. The snow was perfect and so was this condo. Great location and very easy to catch the bus right outside your door. Looking out the back doorwall at a beautiful river was just another bonus. This unit is stocked with everything you need. Just walk in, start a fire, and relax!
Maureen was very responsive and great to work with in this last-minute getaway. The pictures were accurate and the beds were comfortable. There were instructions on just about everything in the house so it was easy to figure out how to use appliances and entertainment systems. My kids liked playing with a lot of the games on site. The kitchen is a little small so I wouldn't recommend this to someone where multiple people will be preparing food at the same time. Other than that, the place was very comfortable for 4 adults and two kids.
We thoroughly enjoyed our recent 5 night stay at Bear Paw, and Maureen was wonderful to work with! We were able to literally wait until the last minute to leave the home and make the bus to Vail Village as you can see the stop only steps away. The ride was about 5 minutes and so convenient. The home itself is exactly as described; comfortable, cozy, and beautiful setting with Gore Creek right outside. The 3 bathrooms, wood burning fireplace, and super comfortable beds were much appreciated. The Safeway and City Market are a 2 minute drive.
I highly recommend the City Market. We had all we needed to cook. We did purchase a new non-stick skillet and left it for future guests to enjoy. We had a great time and have wonderful memories from our stay at Ptarmigan, and would definitely rent Maureen's home again.
We had the privilege of staying for almost three weeks. We could practically wait for the bus indoors, leave the house when it arrived and still make the bus into the Village. It is a six minute ride to Lionshead, and a one minute walk to the Little Diner for breakfast should you not wish to cook at home. The unit was perfect for my wife and I, a married child with two kids. The kids loved sleeping in the loft. The owners were very responsive to minor issues which arose (not being able to connect to the internet at first; replacing a knife set when we recommended the old one needed replacing). The 3 bathrooms, wood burning fireplace and roar of the creek were added pluses. We look forward to returning.
My home is in a small townhome division in West Vail; it is on the south side of I-70. However, due to the Gore Creek and huge pine trees along side the Creek, there is little to none highway noise. The FREE Town of Vail bus is seconds away from my door step. Town of Vail Sales Account #4376
