Cosy Countryside Retreat with Log Burner & Mountain Views

We offer a quaint and quirky holiday annex on our smallholding, set high on the side of the Betws mountain with gorgeous far-reaching views over the Black mountain and surrounding countryside.
Whether it's mountain's or beaches that you fancy, we are situated perfectly for both. Just an hour away from Pembrokeshire at a fraction of the nighty rates!
There are many local public paths and walkways to explore, as well as the famous Brecon Beacons and many other wonderful sites and towns.
The annex is a cosy space with a large bathroom/wet room, a fully equipped kitchen and bedroom with a king size bed with both memory foam mattress and pillows.
If you wish to stay in and maybe enjoy a glass of wine whilst enjoying a beautiful sunset taking in the mountain views, or taking advantage of Freeview and or Netflix on the TV, the choice is yours.
Or simply curl up on front of the sumptuous log burner, making that evening extra special.
During the summer why not enjoy that glass of wine out on your own private patio, we even provide a BBQ grill with utensils.
If you need to work from home, why not do so here. We have the perfect space along with good Wi-Fi connection.
Just a quick tip, the track up to the property can be a bumpy in places, but take it slow and steady and you should have no trouble.

A spacious farm annexe with a really comfortable bed. We were welcomed by Kaisa and Darren with local farm products. Everything was provided for a comfortable stay and also we had beautiful weather which was a bonus. There’s a field adjacent for dogs to exercise in too. We had a very relaxing weekend.

Wonderful cottage

We absolutely loved our weekend here! The cottage was sparkling clean and equipped with everything we needed (including tea, coffee, fire kindling, etc). We enjoyed the cozy living room and a beautiful fireplace. Our hosts were super friendly and helpful, they welcomed us with some wonderful food that served us as lunch during our hike. They made us feel at home here and we hope to come back very soon!

Beautiful and serene

Directions spot on. Greeted by hosts who were lovely and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Views were fabulous. The only problem for me was the lounge was cold until you lit the wood burner. But once lit, it soon warmed up.

Just perfect

A little gem, away from it all. The peace and quiet was deafening. Darren and Kasia were so friendly and made us so welcome. The log burner was superb with plenty of logs, we were quite happy just to sit there in the warm with our Labrador at our feet just looking at the views. We were allocated a field to exercise Bob, which he loved to chase his ball in. The bed was so comfy. The welcome pack was really special, especially the lamb sausages, we bought a pack from Darren and Kasia to bring home. We couldn't fault the place. The kitchen has everything you need in it just as you would at home so there is no need to go anywhere for meals. Just open a bottle of wine , light the log burner, and cook a gourmet meal and enjoy.

Great stay at Porthdy (gatehouse)

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Porthdy. Everything was perfect, the owners were more than welcoming and showed us around before leaving us to enjoy our valentines getaway. The gatehouse was very cosy and had everything we needed and more. Little touches like hot chocolate and farm treats just made it that extra bit special. Facitilites were sparkly clean and the bed was super comfortable. Located in a nice peaceful area. Great value for money. Would highly recommend.

Daniel and Sophie were delightful guests to host. They were very friendly, polite and great communicators. They were very respectful of the space and left the annex super clean and tidy. We would love to welcome them back to stay with us and would not hesitate to recommend them to other owners. We sincerely hope to see them again.
