Fell Foot Shepherds hut on traditional Lakeland farm

Welcome to Barkbeth Farm Shepherd's Huts. We are set on a working farm located in Bassenthwaite in the heart of the Lake District. We offer a relaxing glamping experience with stunning views right at your feet.
Set in it's own peaceful compound away from the sounds and smells of the farm is fell foot.
Open plan living/dining/king size bed with 32" TV. Kitchenette with double induction hob, microwave oven and Airfryer.
Our hut has everything you need for an enjoyable stay.
Outdoor fire pit and picnic bench for you to make the most of the amazing views. Bbqs welcome but are not provided.
Grass and gravel outside area.
We are dog friendly but can only accommodate 1 and kindly ask guests to keep them off the bed.

All dog's must be checked in and payed for when you book your stay with us due to security measures against our livestock, failure to do so could result in termination of your stay with us.

Hidden Gem

There are two similar huts, located on a working farm - closest neighbours are the sheep in the adjacent field.The owner, Matt, is nearby and we saw him around the place at various times, although did not have much contact with him other than the initial instructions on checking in.The hut is comfortable, and adequately equipped for its size (ie only a couple of pans, but enough for what we were cooking).Only a couple of minor comments - the sink is pretty small, so was hard to wash dishes without splashing water everywhere, just needed to wipe up afterwards. Great location: fantastic views, around 10 minute drive from Keswick, with hillwalking on Skiddaw straight from the door.

Amazing little cabin in an excellent location, views are the best. Perfect place to relax and unwind or go hiking in the hills.

Lovely place to stay, great view over Bassenthwaite and the field in front of the hut was full of lambs! Well equipped, had everything we needed and was in a great location to easily get places driving. Would highly recommend!

Amazing stay

Was an incredible stay, the views fromThe shepherds hut was remarkable and the hut was lovely and spacious. Super clean and such an amazing weekend stay ! The sunset view from the hut was beautiful. Super quick drive into Keswick town as well! Spent a lot of time so long in the views whilst watching the baby lambs run and jump in the field.

The location is just outstanding. If you like hiking you can start right off your doorstep, on the foot of the great Skiddaw. The sheep greeted me in the morning and the view toward Derwent Water is lovely.

Absolutely fantastic

Our stay here was everything we had hoped for and more. Idyllic setting, relaxing in and out of the hut in the fresh air with outstanding views of Bassenthwaite Lake and surrounding countryside. A fantastic place to unwind totally. Nothing was too much trouble for our host Matt. We would love to come back and will be recommending this hut to our family and friends.

Absolutely Stunning

The stay exceeded all expectations. The hut was surprsingly spacious, and a lovely place to stay. The fact you literally overlooked nothing but fields was beautiful, the little lambs were right outside our door. We stayed so we could walk Skiddaw and we literally set off from the hut straight up through the field. I cant recommend this place enough, Matt was brilliant and nothing was too much of an ask. We will 100% be back again.

Stunning

We arrived a little early (just to park up) so we could go for a walk in the surrounding area and Matthew was only too happy to let us check-in early as the hut was ready - this really helped us make the most of our 3 night stay. The hut was comfy, clean, well equipped and we even managed to make use of the fire pitt one night! Absolutely stunning views from the moment you arrive, from the door step and even through the windows of the hut when you're going to bed and when you wake up! Loads of good walks / footpaths in the area and a nice pub in Bassenthwaite - we'll definitely be returning!!

Gorgeous location, cosy & comfortable accommodation

We were delighted with our stay at Matthew’s wonderfully located shepherd’s hut overlooking beautiful Bassenthwaite lake and at the foot of majestic Skiddaw mountain. The accommodation was easy to access with car parking directly outside and well equipped so we were able to effortlessly whip up an evening meal and eat it outside on our secluded garden area watching the sun set. The large double bed was cosy and comfortable so we slept well after enjoying nearby lake swimming and glorious lakeland walking. Matthew was very helpful and communication was organised and efficient. Thoroughly recommend!

Beautiful area and hut

Couldn’t fault a single thing about our stay here! We were allowed to bring our cat along too, she had the best time! Beautiful scenery around the accommodation, only short drive from lakes etc. would love to stay here again! Matthew the host has been very helpful and kind, very highly recommend!

Weekend get away

Stunning with great views over Bassenthwaite and even a sunset. Fell Foot Is a lovely shepherd’s hut, well thought out design and good decor and facilities. Very quiet and comfortable, perfect for a get away. Matt very welcoming host. Thoroughly recommend

Idyllic and Perfect location

What a beautiful place wonderful host who made us feel very welcome. Ideal location for Keswick, Grasmere which we love. The views from the property are unbeatable. Highly recommended
