Bright and cool
We loved staying at this mod house in Wellfleet. It's located at the end of a sandy dirt road, on top of a hill of pine trees. The light poured in every morning from the many windows, ensuring that we didn't have to turn on any lights until late in the evening. The outdoor shower was heavenly. There are some great walks you can take in the surrounding neighborhoods, and we also took advantage of the bikes and road them to Lieutenant Island (highly recommended). This is also the only place I've ever stayed with a DVD collection worth mentioning, a extensive collection of recent critics' favorites. The only downside is that the beds leave something to be desired. The mattresses were thin, but I still got a good night's sleep thanks to the fresh air, peace and quiet.
Light, bright, clean lovely house
This house is light, bright, sparkling clean, and amply stocked with essentials. My stay was very peaceful and restful (especially in the off-season). It was easy to walk the (very old) dog down to the marsh; I had 5 fabulous runs in various nearby neighborhoods; and it was easy to drive to town or nearby stores, restaurants or lovely places. I was only one person but there's plenty of room for many more, and the upstairs rooms are wonderfully warm and sunny and magically perched up high.
Lovely, sunny place- perfect for a late April escape from New Hampshire.
Just what we needed after a long hard winter. The forsythia and spring peepers came out during our stay, and the sun shone the entire time. We enjoyed the interesting contemporary design and the very well equipped kitchen. Our large puppy loved it, too. Not everything was open yet but it didn't matter since we went mainly for our beloved National Seashore. Marconi Beach is being reconstructed from storm ravages so we hung out at Head of the Meadows, and ate at PJ's twice. We came home feeling restored and wishing that the experience had lasted longer.
This home was really great for us, our two small children, and chocolate lab. The owners were extremely accommodating in allowing us to book last minute and were wonderful to work with. The house was extremely clean, uncluttered, and comfortable. The layout of this home was what really made it special. Downstairs, whether you were cooking in the kitchen or lounging in the living area, you didn't feel sealed off. There was excellent flow and it really made it feel extra homey. The beds were all super comfortable and we loved all the light throughout the house from the large windows (even in the bedrooms!). There was a great collection of movies, with plenty for kids. The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans and anything else you might need - it even had a gas range! We also really liked the area. The house is at the end of a small street so there was a lot of privacy. The location in terms of attractions and accessibility was also wonderful. It's very close to Marconi beach and a short walk to the marsh. The marsh has an amazing sunset and Marconi was full of seals swimming when we went on our last night, so both are winning spots for a relaxing beautiful view. We had an amazing time and were sad to go. Thanks John and Dennis for sharing your home!
What a wonderful vacation home!
Our family vacation couldn't have been better, and this home was a huge part of it. With 2 dogs, 5 adults, and one 3-year old child, most homes would feel crowded and tight, but this home was spacious, sunny, clean, and comfortable! The description of the home and its amenities was accurate. However, we were totally pleasantly surprised by how many towels, how many chairs, and how well stocked the kitchen was. It truly felt like a home instead of a vacation rental. The location felt so safe and private. We explored many beaches, biked right from the home to Lieutenant Island, watched the sunset, and had a wonderful time. We highly recommend this rental home to anyone looking for a quiet, somewhat woodsy, location, near Wellfleet. The owners were responsive to any questions I had, which was very helpful. Thank you, Dennis and John.
A great place to stay with every convenience one could wish for. My husband and I and our two dogs were there for 5 days in late May. The weather was a bit cool but the house was nice and warm. We went there to relax and while we did a bit of sightseeing, we spent a lot of time just hanging out in the house and on the deck because it was so pleasant. We found a nice restaurant (The Bookstore on the Bay in Wellfleet) to go out to eat that would allow our dogs to join us. Found great pizza at Rookie's (just as we remembered it from years ago). We're already recommending the place to others and hope to return next year.
Located at the narrowest section of the Outer Cape. Walk to nearby bay and salt marsh (dramatic sunsets), quick drive or bike ride to miles and miles of great ocean beaches. Close to the northern end of the Cape Cod Bike Trail (bikes provided), So. Wellfleet general store, fish market, restaurants, National Seashore, wildlife sanctuary, drive-in theater, flea market, tennis courts. 5 minutes to Wellfleet Center (theater, bookstores, lots of art galleries and restaurants). 15-20 mins to Provincetown (whale watching, shopping, restaurants). Amazing French bakery and restaurant, PB Boulangerie, less than a mile from the house.
