Town: Near the Norfolk/Suffolk border, the family-friendly town of Lowestoft sits at Great Britain's most easterly point on the Suffolk Sunrise coast, home to some of the region's finest sandy beaches and a variety of fun things to do with the kids. At Claremont Pier there's a new roller skating rink, and at Pleasurewood Hills Leisure Park, there are thrilling rides and a traditional Victorian Seafront Gardens. There are two theatres, shops, restaurants, cafes, and bars in the town, and its maritime heritage is celebrated at the Lowestoft & East Suffolk Maritime Museum and the floating "Mincarlo" museum on Heritage Quay. The Transport Museum, with its collection of vintage buses, trams, and other modes of transportation, is about a 15-minute drive away. The classic seaside resort of Southwold, with its beach huts, traditional pier, and the nearby Minsmere RSPB nature reserve, can be found along the coast.
