Cosy former miner's cottage near Alnwick

Situated just a couple of miles south of Alnwick in Hampeth, Dexter Cottage is in a terrace of former miners’ cottages, originally built for the workers at Whittle Colliery.

Renovated in 2019, it boasts a really tranquil space that we ourselves have loved spending time in; a genuine home from home.

With its location adjacent to the A1, the major road route through Northumberland, Dexter Cottage makes an ideal base for exploring both coast and country, and everything in between.

Return visit and was excellent again. Very clean & tidy, more than enough towels provided. Addition of toiletries in the bathroom was good this time. Kitchen facilities excellent with plenty of hot water. Parking not a problem and key box simple to use. Very enjoyable week and fantastic we could bring the dog with us to enjoy the beaches

Fantastic Cottage in a great location

This cottage was absolutely great and we had an amazing time. The location is superb for exploring the area with easy access just off the A1. The owner was very helpful and always responded to messages. We would definitely stay again.

The property was nicely furnished and spotlessly clean. We found everything we needed in the kitchen - it felt like a home-from-home. It was a perfect base for exploring a beautiful area. Wouldn't hesitate to book again when we're next in the area.

Lovely stay

Nice modern spacious bungalow. Well equipped and comfortable. Good communication with Iain- especially helpful when we had problems with the internet/ tv. Might be useful to have some instruction manuals for the tv, microwave etc. Handy location for the A1 and for accessing the beautiful beaches. Would definitely return.

Great base

Directions were eady to follow. Good parkiing and lovely clean and very comfortable accomodation. Good bakery nearby and supermarket and M&s foodhall within easy reach.

Lovely property

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Northumberland. The property is in a fantastic central location, ideal for exploring the area. The property was spotless, well presented and spacious with everything you need. Owners couldn’t have been more helpful. Definitely highly recommended.

Fab weekend

Great stay there was a slight issue to start with but the owner was fruendly very responsive and sorted things out immediately. The cottage is very comfortable well appointed and homely. The decore is very taseful and it has very good facilities. We will be booking this holiday home again.

Half term get away

This was the perfect location for our family get away. The property was perfectly located and had all the space and facilities that we needed to enjoy our family holiday. Close to Alnwick, the coast, Cragside and Newcastle. The perfect Northumberland get away.
