About Suzanne Wuhl

My husband and I have been looking for waterfront property for a few years when we came across the Historic Balch Retreat. We fell in love with the property and made the purchase in October 2016. We look forward to many years of our guests enjoying this special place as much as we do!

Suzanne Wuhl purchased this House in 2016

Why Suzanne Wuhl chose Brinnon

When we saw this property for the first time, we were simply in awe. The Historic Balch Retreat lies above an estuary of amazing wildlife. It is truly a photographer's playground. The eagles that soar by, the Roosevelt Elk, the sea lions frolicking.... we were sold! The house itself is truly a step back in time. It has been lovingly preserved. There are so many original items kept throughout the years, the hardwood floors, the original kitchen sink, just to name a few. One step onto this property and we were truly transformed from the daily hustle & bustle of life. Relaxation at its finest.

My family of five stayed at the Historic Balch Retreat for four nights and we loved it! The house had everything we needed to be very comfortable - it was very clean, the kitchen was one of the best stocked ones we've seen in a rental, and the view was incredible. We spent time inside doing puzzles and playing games that were provided in the home and also spent time outside exploring nearby hiking trails and playing on the water in the kayaks.

Suzanne, the property owner, was very friendly and accommodating. In addition to providing a solid list of recommended hikes, waterfalls and restaurants in the area, she went out of her way to have the kayaks brought over for us to use.

We had a great time exploring this beautiful part of the Olympic Peninsula and the Historic Beach Retreat definitely helped to make our time there enjoyable.

                                                                      Don F.

House was great. Suzanne was a great host who responded quickly to all emails. House was well stocked (kitchen, firewood etc.) and was clean and comfortable. Views of the water and wildlife were spectacular, and we made good use of the wood burning fireplace. Recommend making the trip to the local waterfalls. Would have no hesitation staying here again.

                                                                      Really Great House!

                                                                      jg k.Seattle

I really recommend and will stay again. Kitchen is very well stocked, which often isn’t the case with house rentals. Would be nice if tv was in front room so there was an extra bedroom, and more lounging when watching a movie with a large group, but not a big deal. Suzanne is a great host and quick to respond to emails. Definitely one of the most comfy stays in the area.

The house seems both huge and quaint, as there are many rooms and spaces that entice you. Very clean. The view of the water is spectacular and enjoyed by almost every room in the house. The bed was SO comfortable and we enjoyed sleeping with the skylight open to hear the water. We would return in a heartbeat.
