About Kathy Reynolds

Hello, thanks for viewing our property! We bought this home in 2016 because we loved the location and the fact it is always 10 degrees cooler here than in downtown Franklin! We live a large part of the time in Georgia where summertime heat is inescapable and the Fall leaves are never quite as spectacular. We decided in June of 2017 to share what we think is a wonderful mountain retreat with others. We hope you love it as much as we do!

Kathy and Chris

Beautiful Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The setting is beautiful! The home has a warm and cozy feel but it's plenty spacious for 6 people. The owners are very personable and responsive. My sons loved the creek and that the forest starts in the backyard! Great view of the creek from the sitting room and master bedroom. Lots of windows for natural light and a cool breeze. Nicely furnished. It's the best of both worlds....a quiet home in the forest, about 30 minutes away from the lake and just a short drive to restaurants, shops and and retail stores.

Spectacular retreat tucked away in a private cove * Bearly There *

  • 5 of 5

While I was not personally able to visit, I gave my reservation to my brother who had not too far to travel and timing was perfect for a week off. His first impression was 'just lovely' from the charming appointments of the cabin to the lulling sounds of the rushing creek to the quiet surround of beautiful lush green trees. It was an instant realization of total relaxation away from the stresses and demands of normal life.

He took a hike from the cabin and saw spectacular mountain vistas with little waterfalls trickling along the way. The glories of all fill the soul!

Franklin was conveniently just the right distance away for grocery shopping and other attractions. About half an hour away is the Cherokee Indian Reservation and a little farther you can take a 4 hour train trip through the Nantahala Gorge from Bryson City. ...or you can just stay close to Bearly There and explore all to see nearby and just 'be'.

The owners, Kathy and Chris are marvelous and have been very amenable. They are in the throes of building a bridge over the creek to the other bank where the firepit sits. My communications have been with Kathy, and I have found her highly responsive.

My brother was so pleased with all Bearly There afforded, I gave him two more nights! It's my turn next, and I am looking forward to knowing this entrancing haven.

Wonderful, peaceful time. Can't wait to go back!!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time. The creek was beautiful and very peaceful. Cell service and wifi didn't work and not a working fireplace. Besides that everything was perfect. Very cozy and comfortable. It was actually nice without the wifi or internet. It gave us more family time to play cards and hang out with our teenagers. It was nice being able to hear the creek from our bedroom. Loved it!!! We will definitely stay there again!!!!

Owner's Response: I’m so glad you all had a wonderful time! I didn’t realize the Internet wasn’t working during your stay - I thought your WiFi calling was the issue. I’m so sorry! It was working the morning of your arrival - I do apologize but very glad you enjoyed being “unplugged”! We pride ourselves in having the fastest internet available in the area.... Thank you for your review - we look forward to hosting you again!

Great place!

  • 5 of 5

Loved our stay. It was a very clean and cozy home. A great location and I recommend driving up about 8.5 miles to Wayah Bald. We saw a few flurries! The beds were comfortable and cozy. The stream was so relaxing. The only thing I would have enjoyed more was the area across the stream. The access across is not for the elderly. It would be nice to have a safe little bridge to cross the stream and enjoy the fire. I recommend this rental!!!! We hope to go back again soon!

Plan on staying again

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed the creek that runs behind the house. You can sleep in the back bedroom with the windows open listen to it flowing to fall asleep. The living room furniture is so much more comfortable than any other cabin we have stayed in. Looks like the owner is working on modernising it, the decking and windows seem new. Overall a comfortable quite place to stay with grocery stores and restaurants approximately 15 miles away.

Owner's Response: We're glad you enjoyed your time at Bearly There and happy you found the furniture comfy! We want it to feel like home for everyone :-) I wanted to clarify, both the new Ingles Supermarket and WalMart are a 15 minute drive, rather than 15 miles from the cabin. Thank you for your comments and come back anytime!

Incredible Property with the peaceful sound of the creek right outside.

  • 5 of 5

The house was clean and had everything we needed. The outside decks offered incredible views of the creek right outside. Nothing better than having the doors open listening to the water. Will definitely rent here again.
