Beautiful home in Flatrock, spectacular ocean view, spacious grounds, magical

Enjoy the best possible site for visiting the St John's area. a
Approximately 20 minutes from the airport, this house has it all, with plenty of outdoor seating, wooded area behind the house, ocean in front. Great for families or couples. Twenty to twenty five minutes to downtown St John's and it's fine restaurants and art galleries as well as its colorful houses. A big attraction here is the close access to the East Coast Trail, just minutes from your front door.

As you enter, you immediately know that you are in a special place. Facing you is the large and extremely well equipped kitchen, a sunny family room and a dining room and living room with a panoramic view of the ocean and the surrounding cliffs. Open the door and step out on the veranda which surrounds three sides of the house. Sit on the colorful Adirondack chairs and take a deep breath. You realize that you have arrived in the vacation home of your dreams! Take a stroll through the garden where you can, in season, pick fresh lettuce, Swiss chard, green onions for your salad plus a variety of herbs.. Enjoy the flowers and trees on all sides. In September there are potatoes, carrots and turnips.

Upstairs has two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The master bedroom with queen mattress is large and bright with windows facing the ocean. You will wake up to the gentle lap of the waves against the shore or maybe the crash of waves against the rocks. The master bath has a walk in shower, plus a free standing tub, perfect for relaxing in after a long day hiking or sight seeing. All the bathrooms are well supplied with soap, shampoo and conditioner and lots of good quality towels.
The second bedroom also has a queen bed and own bathroom . It has an ocean view plus a view of the valley to the west.
The third bedroom is located in a Casita situated next to the main house. This very pretty and spacious room has a queen bed and full bathroom. Two large windows provide excellent light plus a great ocean view.

The laundry room, with detergent supplied, is located on the second floor.

If needed, a fourth sleeping area would be in the family room, where we have a sofa bed to which we add a very comfortable double mattress. As this is not a private space we would recommend it only for children. But many adults have slept there without a problem..

If you like games, we have Bocci and croquet. For indoor fun, card games and scrabble.

Perfectly outfitted house with spectacular views, very good beds, comfortable couches, good kitchen supplies. Eileen and Glenn were very responsive to questions. Eileen gave us freshly baked blueberry cake and garden vegetable for salad. Flatrock is a great location for hiking and quick runs to St. John's. If we return,Mathis is where we will stay.

Absolutely perfect! The view, the house, the host, the whole experience. We arrived late to blueberry buckle on the counter using the wild blueberries in the yard. There were raised beds with produce, lavender bushes by the front door and a wonderful waterfall hike recommended by the host. I would give it ten stars if I could.

Beautiful house at Flatrock exceeded our expectations. Perched on a hill overlooking Flatrock Point and Red Head, it was a perfect location for a quiet respite or a short commute to St. John's. From the wrap-around deck you could watch the fishermen coming in with their catch. Or you can pick wild blueberries behind the house. The home is spacious, well maintained and fully stocked with basic necessities. Eileen and Glenn are excellent hosts and willing to help in any situation. We highly recommend this property and only regret not staying longer.

A slice of paradise

The property is lovely, well maintained and perfectly situated with a stunning view of the ocean. We enjoyed watching lobster fishermen pull up their traps and the seagulls dining on unwanted fish.Eileen and Glenn are great hosts.

My husband and I stayed in Flatrock for three nights at the end of our vacation. The property was very comfortable, extremely clean and well stocked for cooking. We especially enjoyed the fireplace and lovely view. The beds were comfortable and the décor pleasant. I would stay here again.

Perfect Location for Family Visits

This is our second visit to this home, the first being 3 years ago. The location is perfect and the view is phenomenal. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again on our next visit home.

What makes this property unique

The property is set by itself on a hill within a small fishing village , but very close to the St. John's metropolitan area. The wraparound deck is a wonderful place to sit, watch the sun on the ocean and have morning coffee, or to have an evening beverage and barbecue while watching for Icebergs, whales, and the coming and going of fishing boats.
Walk from here to the point of land called The Beamer and look in wonder at the vista around you, truly magical. Red Head Cove and Stiles Cove are also easily reached from Dawnview.
This property appeals to all ages, but it is especially perfect for families because of the outdoor space for exploring on foot. Just ten minutes walk away there is a small river with waterfalls with swimming holes which flows through to a gorgeous river valley to the ocean. The whole area is so pretty that you will want to take lots of pictures!
