The Cambrian Mountains are one of the few remote areas left in southern Britain, and Tregaron lies close to this open wilderness. Although there are only a few roadways across the mountains they are acknowledged as some of the most scenic routes in Britain, where walkers and cyclists can revel in the peaceful solitude. Historic Tregaron is a ‘Walkers are Welcome’ town, and the annual Walking Festival held in May is a firm favourite on the events calendar. Competitors and visitors come from all over the UK and Ireland for the annual horse trotting and carriage racing too. It is also the home to the Welsh Gold Centre, selling Celtic inspired designs. The town is small and full of independent shops, and on the square, you can find an award-winning pub/restaurant, as well as a wood carving depicting Twm Siôn Cati, the legendary 17th-century ‘Robin Hood of Wales’ who is said to have used his wit and bravery to outsmart gentry and crooks alike. Cors Caron, or ‘Tregaron Bog’ as it is also known, is the largest raised bog in Britain and lies just outside the town. It is a peat bog of international importance and a nature reserve since 1955. It provides a habitat to very rare flora and fauna and is fantastic for wildlife spotting, including buzzards, peregrine falcons, harriers and iconic red kites. The beautiful Ceredigion coastline can be reached within a 30-minute drive and offers lovely beaches and interesting towns and villages to visit. The university town of Aberystwyth has a historic castle, promenade and pier, plus it is home to one of Wales’s most picturesque steam train journeys through the valley over to Devil’s Bridge. Georgian harbour town Aberaeron, and the quaint fishing town of New Quay are also great areas to visit. Beach 14½ miles.
The property has a private secure garden but it is situated on a working sheep farm and is neighbouring other livestock farms. With this in mind, children and dogs must be supervised at all times.

Having just stayed at Yr Hen Beudy last week, we found it excellent place to stay, very clean and had all the bits you would need to do live there very comfortably.Logs, kindling and fire lighters were also provided for the log burner. The house its self was very spacious, and nicely modern. It is a drive if you want to go anywhere, (would suggest filling the cupboards first ) the local supermarket is pretty good and stocks most things even though it only a little one, but if you want a very quiet relaxing time, this ticks every box, the views are amazing and with a hot tub to top it off, which is checked regularly by Karen and we didn’t even hear her open the gate she was that quiet!! The owners were very friendly and approachable. They also can provide you with fresh eggs, home made honey and lamb/sheep products from the rare bread they actually have on the farm, I can personally recommend these!!!!! All in all I would definitely recommend here and will absolutely be booking again.
