Mas with converted barn, unique pool, paradise found!

Set in just under an acre, Mas Mimosa with 2 separate gites, benefits from being in the rural outskirts of Perpignan but only a 20 min walk through the pretty park to the beautiful & historic city, with all its delightful bars and restaurants to sample. Just a 10 minute drive are the glorious sandy beaches by the safe non-tidal Mediterranean sea.
The Old Barn and Le Cerisier are gites attached to our 150 year old Catalan Mas. They are stone built and have exposed beams & rafters. Open plan lounge/dining room areas with fireplaces, comfy sofas, TV, DVD stereo/cd player. Fully equipped kitchens to cater for your every need.
Why not rent both and bring extended families, total capacity would be 10 plus a baby.
Outside there is private terrace space for each, with hand built traditional Catalan BBQ, table,chairs and parasol.. Beautiful mature gardens with swings/slide/seesaw, & a giant Jenga, safe & secluded from the road. Tables & chairs are provided here & there amid the trees for you to chill out. The terraces and gardens are lit up at night for al fresco dining in the warm evenings.
Shady peaceful summer kitchen with lockable double french doors opening to poolside, with BBQ, fridge, & utility room with sink, shower, toilet & washing machine for use of all guests.
The stunning secluded 13.5m x 6m pool, private for occupants of both gites, is family orientated, with perimeter overflow & roman steps. The segregated toddler pool is only 40cm deep and enables little ones to get in & out on their own, encouraging confidence in the water. Huge relaxing decking area with sunbeds, parasols, tables & chairs , security gate & fence. We use a salt disinfection system, kind to skin and eyes, no chlorine smell or taste. Red squirrels & birds come & drink from the pool. The peaceful secluded gardens are a haven to many species of birds, including exotic Hoopoes from Africa.
We provide toys for the children in the summer kitchen area , and pool toys for the little ones

Mas Mimosa is a wonderful base to explore the Languedoc Roussillon region with all it has to offer. Stunning chateaux with vineyards & wine-tasting. Towns steeped in history with wonderful architecture, Carcassonne, Castelnou, & Ceret to name a few, Ceret has a wonderful market on Saturday morning.

There are markets most days in the numerous squares; we have a flea market every Sunday on the outskirts of Perpignan either a 15 walk or a 2 minute drive. They sell an eclectic mix of clothes, antiques & some wonderful fabrics & curtains. In Canet (ten minute drive ) on Saturday and Sunday is a market; They sell an eclectic mix but this includes food, local wine, herbs & spices, Treat yourself to spit roast chicken or home-made couscous, paella or a local speciality ‘boles du picolat’ (meatballs in sauce). all which smell wonderful.
In July & August Perpignan hosts 'Les Jeudis' free Thursday evening festivals, street theatre , dance & acrobats, whereby the city is filled with people meandering around in the warm night air.
Perpignan is full of shops,restaurants & cafes,
Canet plage 10 mins drive, has many bars & restaurants, & in the summer beach bars are set up.
Many nearby towns were visited and painted by famous artists, such as Picasso, Dali & Matisse. Perpignan, Ceret & Collioure both have museums & art galleries. The Cathar castles are fascinating to visit.
Perpignan was declared ' the centre of the universe' by Dali, after whom the train station is named.
Spain with its border of duty free shops is 25 mins away, La Jonquera has large supermarkets and an outlet centre for some top brands. Figueres with the Dali museum , an hour,
Barcelona with the amazing Sagrada Familia is 2 hours away.
In the peak season Ryanair has flights into Perpignan airport , this changes in mid season and varies year to year. They also serve Carcassonne & Bezier airports.
Ryanair operates from Dublin to Perpignan and Girona
Further airports include Barcelona and Toulouse.
The rail network links Perpignan to Girona , Figueres and Barcelona.
There is a coach station with europe wide links

Nous avons été très bien accueillis par Sue et son mari qui sont très chaleureux. Le gite était parfaitement propre et bien équipé. L'environnement était exceptionnel avec une piscine très agréable. Coin très calme pour se ressourcer en famille. Merci à eux.

Wonderful stay

We really enjoyed our short stay at Mas Mimosa. The Old Barn was beautiful and so much care had been taken with every aspect. The pool is magnificent and we really enjoyed spending time there in the afternoons. Most of all the owners, Sue and Steve, were amazing hosts. Nothing was too much trouble with advice about where to visit and places to eat. We love the oyster shacks at Leucate. We will return!

Would i go back? Most definitely!

I always review a place based on whether i would go again if I had the chance and in this case I definitely would Suited us perfectly. A tranquil haven in a quiet lane surrounded by fruit & veg farming, on the edge of the city, just 10 mins walk to local facilities & a further 10 into centre ville. Would recommend hiring a car for ease of getting around & visiting attractions, supermarket runs, etc but you could manage without A unique property. The friendly & helpful, but not overbearing owners, live in the main farmhouse and there is one holiday property either side of the main house, all accessed from a gated courtyard/ parking. We stayed in the old barn, a fabulously converted, well equipped, comfortable living space with its own outdoor terrace & bbq area. Large & cool open plan living/dining/kitchen area with mezzanine (2 single beds) above. There is a separate family bathroom and 2 enclosed bedrooms with bathroom facilities, ours opened though French windows onto a lovely seating area in the courtyard. Aircon for aiding comfortable sleep was a v nice touch. The gardens & pool are a delight with loads of seating areas so you can find your favourite space in which to relax. The pool is clean & well maintained. Ping pong needs refurb or replacement as it's listed as a feature but not in great state. Would suggest honesty box for washing liquid & d/w tabs as not worth buying full packs for short stays. Great though. Hope to return some time soon. The property & area FAB!!!

Wonderful stay

Susan was extremely helpful leading up to the booking and then very informative concerning the area and activities. The gite was beautiful with an amazing pool which the kids loved. Very close to the historic centre of Perpignan and to the beaches. We went to Canet Plage, rented a umbrella and lounge chairs from a pop up beach club as recommended by Sue and had a fantastic day at the beach. We can’t than Sue and Stephen enough for the wonderful hospitality.

Wow

What can I say, absolutely brilliant. From meeting Sue and Steve from the first moment you where at ease just living the dream with a beautiful home they want to share with you. Sue and Steve cannot do enough for you, whether you require a drink, charcoal for the barbecue or even a brolly for the beach all available for an extremely great price. Would I recommend this place? Without a doubt, beautiful, peaceful and two absolutely wonderful host.

A quiet place to stay.

Sue and Steve were gracious hosts. Our family enjoyed our stay. The gardens are very nice as well as the pool, albeit cool. Our hosts shared their herbs from their garden and have a beautiful lemon tree. You can walk to Perpignan within 20/25 mins. There is a local grocery store within a 10 min walk which we found very helpful. Do not hesitate to stay here.

La propriété est idéalement située au calme, proche de tout.La magnifique grange, spacieuse et confortable est rénovée avec goût. Les espaces extérieurs et jardins sont superbes. Et que dire de la piscine! Sue et Steve sont très sympathiques et aux petits soins pour soins pour leurs hôtes.Un petit coin de paradis en terre catalane!

Séjour en famille de 15 jours pour nous, Susan et Steven sont adorables et très accueillants, aux petits soins; Le logement est conforme a la description, grand, propre, très fonctionnel ... les extérieurs très sympa et jolies, la piscine au top !! Situation géographique idéale pour visiter la région, PLage/Montagne/Espagne .... tout est à 30 minutes environ. Nous les recommandons fortement, et n'hésiterons pas à y retourner si besoin !!

Paradise in Perpignan

The barn was comfortable, well equipped and spacious. The pool area and surroundings were beautiful and restful. Sue & Steve were wonderfully helpful and thoughtful. The location was pretty convenient to explore Perpignan from on foot. All in all a great package for a super relaxing holiday.

A wonderful stay in your lovely barn!

The property was immaculately clean and well equipped. With quality fixtures and fittings throughout, it is tastefully furnished and decorated. And a big plus: the lovely private outdoor area for relaxing, playing and swimming. The perfect location to visit the city of Perpignan, the countryside and the wonderful beaches. We would definitely recommend this accomodation, it is perfect! Hoping to return very soon! Thanks Sue and Steve, you are fabulous hosts - we had a fabulous time.

We stayed in the old Barn this summer and had a wonderful time with our two kids. Sue and Steve were fantastic, very helpful and friendly. Everything is very well organised, clean and tasteful. Pool is huge. Highly recommanded!

Spacious, clean, comfortable accommodation with a fantastic pool

We had a lovely time staying in "The Barn", Sue and Steve have done a brilliant job in making this a real home from home. It's well equipped with 2 large bedrooms and a mezzanine with 2 single beds. The pool is a real highlight - a great place to spend time relaxing. Also try Sue's homemade apricot jam - especially nice with fresh croissants from the local bakery. Sue and Steve are great hosts - nothing is too much trouble.

Beautiful villa that feels like home!

We were absolutely impressed with everything to do with Sue & Steve's lovely home. We stayed there with our 4 children including a 4 month old and Sue went out of her way to provide a lovely cot, bedding, baby bath. There were toys and books for the others which kept the 4 year old very busy and the amazing pool kept the bigger two busy which meant us parents enjoyed a break! The photos don't do the villa justice, the pool is absolutely amazing! The villa is stunning. There are beautiful touches in and around the property which really adds to it and makes it feel so warm and homely. Including some beautiful plants and flowers. And it is so brilliantly clean and well stocked with everything you could possibly need! Sue & Steve are great hosts, even greeting us with a beer and a vino after a long day of travelling and stuck in holiday traffic - I find it's these little touches that go a long way. Sue also makes homemade jam - yum! We would most definitely go back in a heartbeat and couldn't recommend The Old Barn enough! We have stayed in many villas previously and this one has to be at the top of the list, especially for a family. There really was nothing that we came across that the place needed and didn't have and for 6 people it was rather impressive. Thanks Sue & Steve, hopefully we'll see you again one day!

Fantastic holiday at Mas Mimosa!

We stayed at the Old Barn for a week and loved our time there! We stayed as a family of 5, which included a 9 month old baby. Steve and Sue are very welcoming and kind hosts; full of local knowledge. We were greeted on arrival and given a tour of their beautiful home. The pool area is beautiful and clean and the Old Barn is also very clean and spacious. Steve and Sue have thought about everything to ensure you have a relaxing and wonderful holiday. This was our first family holiday with our 9 month old baby and Sue and Steve had thought of everything to make our stay as relaxing as possible. The property is a 10 minute walk to the nearest spar and wonderful bakery. (Tip: Sue makes wonderful homemade jams which you can purchase and is beautiful with a croissant or two from the bakery!) The centre of Perpignan is a further 10 minute walk away. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Old Barn and would recommend to anyone who would wish to enjoy a relaxing holiday at a beautiful location. Thank you very much Sue and Steve!

A wonderful property in a great location

We stayed at the barn over Christmas this year and we couldn't have wished for more. We were so warmly welcomed by Sue and Steve who had decorated the barn for us with Christmas decorations and tree and left a hamper with goodies such as a home made Christmas pudding, home made jam, Christmas crackers and other bits. The fire was lit for our arrival and the whole place was magical. Sue and Steve are extremely easy going and accommodating leaving us to our own devises but quick to help with anything if required. The property is about 15 mins walk to the town centre and Perpignan is well situated to visit many sea side resorts, vineyards and historic villages. We recommend it without hesitation! Thank you Sue and Steve.

A very nice and comfortable holiday

We had a great time staying at the Old Barn. Sue and Steve were extremely accommodating and friendly. Our accommodation was spacious and very clean and the kitchen had everything you need for your stay. It was very close to the main supermarket and to Canet Plage which is a lovely sandy beach. The sea was very clean and shallow which was great for the kids. I would definitely recommend my friends to come here. Thank you Sue & Steve!!

A Fantastic Holiday Location with a great pool

We stayed at the property in the outskirts of Perpignan for the first time this year (2017). As there was a group of ten of us the location was superb with the converted barn and the cottage. The standard of accommodation was excellent and very well equipped. Everywhere was really clean and maintained to a high standard. The site is secure with parking and has been designed with children in mind. The photographs on the website do not quite do it justice, in particular the pool which is absolutely beautiful and even larger in real life! The barn and the cottage have their own BBQ areas, but the one at the side of the barn is large enough to accommodate a group of 10. The owners were friendly and extremely helpful. Although the strength and coverage of the WI-FI would have benefited from a boost, it was good enough to keep us in contact with friends and family back home. The local shop and bakers were just a 10 minute walk away for the morning croissants and supplies. Perpignan center was then another 15 minutes, where there were restaurants and bars. The beaches were just 10 minutes in the car and there was a great number of vineyards in the area to sample the local wine. Within the nearby vicinity there was a lot to see, do and visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely property and would most definitely recommend it to others.

Great place, Great hosts

We returned to stay with Sue & Steve after visiting in 2011, which was just after they had completed the renovation of Mas Mimosa. We wanted to go back to visit them because they are such good hosts and because the property was so comfortable and provided everything we needed for a relaxing holiday. Our welcome was drinks in the summer kitchen and a couple of hours catching up with them. Since our first visit they have made further improvements including completing the second property and the gardens and pool areas were looking even better, it was lovely. We stayed in the Barn which is spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Kitchen provided evrything we needed, in particular a large fridge/freezer for keeping plenty of cools drinks available. Bedrooms were large and comfortable. Good bathrooms and showers. Plenty of space for relaxing. Only downside was the TV ariel reception lost the BBC Channels for part of our stay but Steve will sort this out. Overall we spent a great couple of weeks at Mas Mimosa alternating between relaxing days by the superb pool, walks into Perpignan or days out exploring the coast, the Pyrenees or other historic towns. There is lots to do nearby. The best thing about staying here is Sue & Steve who are the perfect hosts. Sociable if you want them to be, good to chat to and nothing is too much trouble for them. They want to make sure you enjoy your stay and do everything they can to make sure you do.

Paradise in Perpignan

What a wonderful place to spend our family holiday, amazing salt water pool my Daughter learnt to swim without her arm bands here and really enjoyed swimming at night, it was amazing looking up at the stars! Our girls played happily in the pool all day and loved all the toys especially dolly's and pram which are there for the kids to play with, and various swings / seesaw in the garden too. Villa felt very safe and secure so we could let the kids have a bit of freedom playing while we relaxed by the pool. The barn is amazing and furnished to a very high standard very luxurious, spotlessly clean and very spacious we felt totally spoilt. We enjoyed breakfast lunch and dinner on our terrace and enjoyed some lovely bbq's too. A lovely walk into Perpignan for loads of restaurants and bars if you want to eat out. We had our car so drove to beautiful beaches one was Canet plage for good for restaurants/ amazing massive fresh candy floss/ carousel and market stalls at night also Saint cyprien was lovely at night we had mussels and frites for dinner and had fairground rides bouncy castles for kids too. We wished we could have stayed for another week. Thank you to Sue and Steve it is a truly beautiful place to stay and we would love to come back soon.

We chose this area for the variety it has to offer, culture , scenery & beautiful beaches The location of our property is convenient for the airport, the train station, Perpignan city and the beaches. Also Spain is 20 minutes drive away

Our pool is unique, 13m x 6m with a segregated baby/toddler area. Salt water disinfection , beautiful planting surrounding the large decking area, with sunbeds and tables . We have renovated the gites in a comfortable and welcoming way, well equipped as we want you to experience a home from home holiday .
