About this property

Tuscan countryhouse apartment, 10 min by the sea, with AC and large garden.

La Casa Toscana is a beautifully restored 18th century Tuscan country house located on ‘The Wine Road’ between Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri.
The property has two levels:
- the bottom, where my family lives and where I teach my cooking classes.
- the top, where TWO spacious apartments, with independent entrance and equipped with AIR CONDITIONING, are rented for holidays.

APARTMENT TORRE is located on the upper level of La Casa Toscana and it’s great for two couples or families with up to 3 kids, as there are two large bedrooms where is possible to add an extra bed.
The apartment is 90 mq (970 square feet) with a big living room 25 mq (270 square feet), a well equipped kitchen and 2 spacious bed rooms. The apartment is furnished with our family’s antique pieces to give you the same personal feeling that we have in our own home.

The apartment overlooks the medieval tower and the Tuscan countryside ending into the Mediterranean sea.
Air conditioning and wifi connection are provided for free.

THE PROPERTY: The property is dominated by the medieval village of Castagneto Carducci famous for top class vineyards, rolling hills and incredible cycling roads. It’s a perfect position for a holiday: several sandy beaches few minutes drive away, cypress-lined cycling routes, tiny villages nestled between the sea and the hills. Everything is very close even though we are in the countryside and the property is ideal for a family vacation, relaxing or an active holiday!

THE GARDEN: The property is surrounded by one hectare (1/4 acre) garden with an olive orchard, fruit trees, fresh herbs and typical plants of the Mediterranean. The garden is equipped with dining tables and chairs. In several strategic points around the garden, comfortable sitting areas have been arranged, equipped with deckchairs and armchairs, perfect for simply relaxing in complete peace and quiet. It is the ideal place to spend many magic moments with your family or friends. For fun, visit our recreational area where we have a bocce ball court and a foosball table equipped with outdoor lighting. Adults and children alike will enjoy this area and our large back lawn where all can play with our three friendly cats and loving dog. There is a parking place in the shade, very comfortable when it is hot.

THE BEACH: The beach is only 7 km away. It’s also possible to ride your bicycle to the beach through very safe country roads.

THE AREA: The village of Castagneto is reachable in twenty minutes walking from the house or 5 min driving. This quiet and charming village offers all the services (pharmacy, bank with ATM, etc.) and little restaurants to taste a delicious bruschetta served with a glass of wine from a local producer.

Donoratico, 4 km from the property, offers big supermarkets, all kind of shops and the railway station to get to the main cities (Rome, Pisa, Florence, etc.). Siena, Pisa, Florence, Volterra, San Gimignano and many other beautiful destinations are about 1-2 hours away by car, perfect for a day trip. There are few sandy beaches, and our favorite is very safe for children with shallow water for many meters.

Bolgheri, 8 km from the property, is an enchanting hamlet with bars and restaurants, for your morning coffee or special dinners.

THE WINE: We live in a wine region where some of the most famous Super Tuscan wines are produced just few km from our property. We can help you to organize a visit to world-class vineyards and cellars, learn about the prestigious Bolgheri DOC region and enjoy superb wines.

MY FAMILY: We live at the bottom level of the farmhouse and I teach Italian cooking classes. My husband lives between Chamonix and Tuscany, and he is always ready to give you all the informations to enjoy the area. We are passionate cyclists, and this area is famous for cycling. We can help you to find the perfect roads!

COOKING CLASSES: We would love you and your party to join one of our cooking classes. Our classes are completely hands-on, where you will be involved in every stage, making everything from scratch and having a great introduction to Italian culinary traditions and cuisine.

Staying at one of Chicca and Arnaud’s apartments was such a treat! Being situated so close to the Mediterranean Sea and nearby villages makes it a perfect destination! They are wonderful hosts who are happy to share recommendations for restaurants, places nearby to visit, and if you’re able, take advantage of signing up for one of Chicca’s cooking classes! Her love of good food is evident as she leads the class through making pasta, sauce, dessert, or whatever is on the menu. Our days with them went swiftly but gave us wonderful memories!

Beautiful setting, friendly hosts

Highly recommend these apartments! We stayed several weeks and would go back in a heart beat. Well appointed in a beautiful setting, just a small hike up to the tiny hillside village of Castagneto Carducci and easy to walk/bike/drive to olive groves, wineries, and other villages. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen with all the amazing ingredients from the local Coop, which was a nice bike ride away. Wifi is available, signal was weaker in some areas of the house, but usually fine. The hosts are very friendly and laid back. If you want a true cultural experience, try a private cooking class with Chicca in her home kitchen downstairs - a memorable time with lots of amazing food!

Beautiful tuscan stay among vineyards and olive groves

What an incredible place in lovely setting, close to many places for daytrips but also perfect to just relax and cook at home. I traveled with my spouse and two teenagers. Chicca communicated so well with us in advance and while we were there… offering and making some reservations for us and giving excellent suggestions for daytrips. The place itself feels so authentic, furnished with family heirlooms and interesting art, but also a thouroughly stocked kitchen and modern/thougtfully updated bathrooms. The setting is a small farm surrounded by walkable paths through vineyards and olive groves — just rambling the quiet paths after dinner was a delight. We also loved being taught Petanque and playing on the property at sunset. The home is a short distance down the from the mountaintop town of Castegneto Carducci which we enjoyed exploring. My son, a runner, would run up the paths through the groves to the town most days! We also did trips out to Volterra, Lucca and other hilltop medieval towns. We also spent a day on Elba, swimming in some magical rocky coves tucked in among gorgeous cliffs and also enjoyed some sandy beaches. After hot and busy days, the washing machine and air conditioning were both SO appreciated as well. Our only regret was not having a few more days to stay and just relax! We actually didn’t find out about the amazing Bolgheri wines until we arrived! But no regrets… we know what we’ll be doing when we most certainly come back in the future!

Rather old than vintage

Let's start with the positive. The bedrooms are quiete large, each with its own modern bathroom. If you have some early birds and some owls in your family, it might be a problem.The baths are ok, but not very clean.The blankets were also not very clean. Everything was obviously washed, but there were some dirt stains. The beds are rather new. Other furniture is truely vintage. It looks quite nice, but it also smells a little bit.The worst part of the house was the living room with the kitchen. The couch stands to close to the table, so that the fifth chair was difficult to use.You can't really sit on the couch because there is no foam any more.The kitchen has no tea cups, only four espresso pots and four water glasses. In general, it was quiet difficult to use the kitchen, since e.g. also scissors are missing.The house has a washing machine. It is ok, that it is old. But it is quite strange that it is rosty. Furthermore, it is quiet dirty with rests of old washing powder.The garden and the bedrooms have a very nice view.The living room is rather dark, with a view on the garden itself. It might be a nice house for others. It wasn't for us.

It is not a modern apartment, and we make this very clear through both our description and photos. Our home is best suited to those who value charm, authenticity, and a personal, cultural touch. Our apartment has consistently received 5-star reviews, particularly for cleanliness and atmosphere. We take great care to maintain both, and your remarks about the condition of the bathrooms and linens are not in line with the positive feedback we've received from dozens of previous guests. Cleanliness has always been one of our highest priorities, and we are meticulous about hygiene. All linens and towels are washed and disinfected to a professional standard. The bathrooms and kitchen were fully renovated just a few years ago and are maintained with great care. The living room is around 25 square meters, and the kitchen is well-equipped for a self-catering stay. We provide coffee for the first day as a welcome gesture, beyond that, guests are expected to shop for their own needs. Moka pots and coffee powder are always available, in keeping with Italian traditions. That said, we also rely on mutual respect to ensure a pleasant experience for everyone in the house. Leaving garbage behind, and allowing young children to create disruptive early-morning noise that impacts others, reflects a mismatch—not only in expectations, but in basic courtesy. We take great pride in hosting and in maintaining a warm, welcoming home. We understand that our space may not be right for everyone—but for those looking for a stay rooted in authenticity and care, it continues to be a well-loved destination. We wish you all the best in your future travels and hope you find places better aligned with your needs and lifestyle.

Sehr freundliche und jederzeit hilfsbereite Gastgeber. Weitläufiger Garten zum Entspannen. Viele gute Restaurants und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in der Nähe. Es gibt schöne und saubere Strände, die schnell erreichbar sind. In der nächstgelegenen Stadt gibt es Schnellladesäulen für Elektroautos.Very friendly and always helpful hosts. Extensive garden to relax. Many good restaurants and shopping nearby. There are beautiful and clean beaches that are quickly accessible. In the nearest city there are fast charging stations for electric cars.

Eine super Entdeckung

Eine ganz tolle Unterkunft und sehr herzliche Gastgeber! Chicca und ihr Man sind super hilfsbereit und geben tolle Tipps für die Umgebung. Unsere Kinder liebten die Nähe zum Meer, Chiccas Garten, die Spielangebote und vor allem die Hunde und die Katze. Ein toller Ort zum Entspannen und Ausflüge machen. Wir können es nur empfehlen!

Es war ein sehr schöner Aufenthalt, die Gastgeber sind sehr freundlich und die Wohnung ist toll geschnitten, sehr sauber und toll eingerichtet. Die Lage ist sehr ruhig und doch kann man in kurzen Wegen alles erreichen. Der Garten und das Haus sind sehr groß und sehr gepflegt, die beiden Hunde sind sehr kinderlieb und freundlich. Wir haben den Urlaub seh genossen und kommen gerne wieder.

Séjour très agréable

La propriété est grande et magnifique, très bien située au coeur de la Toscane et proche d'une belle plage. Deux chiens adorables, des jeux de plein air, c'était parfait pour les enfants. Plusieurs tables pour prendre les repas en extérieur pour profiter de la vue. Les hôtes sont très accueillants, nous avons pu profiter de leurs conseils pour découvrir les environs et les activités possibles.

Fabulous Hospitality!

Tolle Möglichkeit zum Entspannen

Wir haben uns bei Chicca sehr wohlgefühlt. Das Apartment bietet alles was man für ein paar Urlaubstage benötigt und der riesige Garten mit den vielen Sitzmöglichkeiten, haben uns den fehlenden Balkon sofort vergessen lassen. Bei ihr sind alle willkommen und so wurden auch wir von ihr und ihren zwei Hunden herzlich begrüßt. Wir würden auf jeden Fall wieder hingehen.

Am liebsten wären wir dortgeblieben!

Dieser Urlaub war ein Traum! Die große Wohnung, die zwei Schlafzimmer jeweils mit eigenem Bade, der riesige Garten mit zwei verspielten Hunden und das ganze in Mitte von Olivenheinen! An der geschmackvollen Einrichtung merkt man sofort, dass Chicca ein Händchen dafür hat! Wir fünf, (Eltern + Kinder 10, 9, 4) haben uns vom ersten Moment an Pudelwohl gefühlt. Chicca und Arnauld haben uns mit offenen Armen empfangen! Highlight das superleckere Eis im malerischen Castagneto Carducci und das wunderbare Meer nur ein paar Minuten Auto entfernt… Für Familien mit Kinder sehr zur empfehlen! Wir kommen wieder 😊

1 Woche Toskana bei Chicca

A wonderful house, in the middle of Tuscany, absolutely recommended. Chicca and Iolando are really very nice and helpful hosts who always have a good tip for the questions that you have as a Tuscan tourist. This apartment is very clean and authentic, we felt very comfortable and will be happy to come back.

Erholsame Tage in der Toskana

Für Erwachsene als auch Kinder ideal zum Erholen. Liebevoll eingerichtete Wohnung, grosszügiger Garten mit Pétanque-Feld und Olivenbäumen. Das Meer mit kilometerlangem Sandstrand und das Städtchen auf dem Hügel sind mit dem Auto rasch zu erreichen. Sehr nette Gastgeber mit freundlichem Hund. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder! Vielen Dank für alles. Italien zeigt sich hier von seiner besten Seite.

Grosszügige und gut gelegene Ferienwohnung mit Umschwung und vor allem mit herzlicher Betreuung

Grosszügige Ferienwohnung (v.a. Schlafzimmer, Bäder) mit viel Umschwung und zahlreichen Sitzgelegenheiten im Garten. Stilvoll mit Antiquitäten eingerichtet und trotzdem familientauglich. Voll eingerichtete Küche einschliesslich Backofen, Tiefkühlfach und Mikrowelle. Eigene Waschmaschine in der Wohnung, Wäscheleine im Garten. Etwas ringhörig/schalldurchlässig zur benachbarten zweiten Ferienwohnung. Wohnungen lassen sich gut zusammen mieten / nutzen. Herzlicher Empfang und Betreuung durch die Gastgeber Chicca und Arnaud. Ein verspielter (grosser) Hund, dem die Kinder mit Respekt begegnet sind. Ganz grosser Dank für die vielen schriftlichen und persönlichen Empfehlungen für Dies und Das - es war hilfreich und hat Spass gemacht. Die Lage inmitten der Olivenhaine und Reben und unmittelbar am Fuss des malerischen Städtchens Castagneto ist umwerfend und ruhig; die Küstenstrasse (Autobahn) in 3 Autominuten zu erreichen, schöne, endlose (und im Herbst fast leere) Strände mit klarem Wasser innert weniger Minuten. Unbedingt empfehlenswert - wir kommen sehr gerne wieder!!

Sehr grosse Ferienwohnung. Grosser Aussenbereich. Viele verschiedene Sitzgelegenheiten aussen. Ruhige Lage. 10 km vom Strand entfernt. Alles sehr liebevoll
