Nestled in peaceful hills of southern Charente with Aubettere, chosen as one of the most beautiful villages in France, just a stone's throw away, La Colline de Tilleul gites are perfect cosy hide away to unplug, slow down and recharge. For a family vocation, romantic getaway, some me-time all by yourself or to work on a creative project.
Relax as you enjoy the views from hilltop down the valley, looking over sunflowers and meadows towards a small lake, distant woods and fields.
Admire the incredibly starry skies we get here, take a dip in the large heated swimming pool (open June-September) or read a book in a swing chair under the glorious linden tree. Other shared facilities include table tennis, croquet, Badmington, a Petange piste, full size pool table and other games.
In your cottage you will find all we feel you need, from the highest quality bedding and towels, handmade soap, to tea, coffee, herbs and spices, so you can enjoy your escape to the country to the fullest. For longer stays you can expect a welcome basket as well.
We are around in case you would need us, but we are respectful if you would like to enjoy your privacy.
You can take a bike to explore the surrounding area, pop in for a coffee or lunch in the square of beautiful Aubeterre, visit its breathtaking, and Europe's largest underground monolithic church, or have fun swimming and canoeing on river Dronne. The nearest supermarket is 10 minutes drive away, in Chalais, with its chateau, shops, bars, restaurants, weekly farmers market and the most delicious almond croissant from the Boulangerie La Petrisane (opposite Lidl).
The cottages are self-catering and you will have an equipped kitchen. Upon request, we offer breakfast and meals which we serve at your cottage. Happy to share more when you are here.
