Town: The community of Bardsea is perched atop a hill with views of Morecambe Bay. This isolated region developed from a tiny fishing community and farming region into a crucial transportation route for coal, iron ore, and corn. Although Bardsea is no longer a significant port, it still has a strong fishing history and a bar with excellent food and outstanding beer. The historic market town of Ulverston is only 2 miles from the village and still hosts a street market every Thursday and Saturday. Ulverston also hosts numerous festivals throughout the year, including an amazing lantern procession in September and a fantastic Dickensian weekend in early December.
