By the river is Armathwaite Castle, a four-story Pele Tower with beautiful stained glass windows in the church from the fifteenth century. One of Cumbria's best-kept secrets is the Eden Gorge, which is between Lazonby and Armathwaite and is definitely worth investigating. The neighborhood's train station is a stop on the Settle-to-Carlisle Railway, one of Britain's most picturesque rail routes, where numerous antique steam trains still wind through some of the country's most magnificent landscapes.
